Fulham have been named as one of two Barclays Premiership clubs keeping an eye on the progress of Real Betis defender Fernando Varela.
Varela is off contract in the summer and admits he is unhappy with the new contract offer he has recieved from Betis.
He said: "I would like to reach an agreement and continue many years here, although that does not depend on me.
"It would not matter to me to finish my career here, but that is in the hands of the president.
"I've waited six years and believe I have asked for my right price. Let's hope the club sees it that way also."
Spanish journalist Ivan Modia said: "There is a chance of a move to England as the player has a couple of offers from Fulham and Manchester City and he is available on a free transfer.
"I think he will listen to offers from Spanish clubs first because he is settled in Spain and there are also a couple of clubs in La Liga who are interested in him as he is a good, powerful right-back.
"Fulham and City have approached but there is no official offer yet and he will wait to see what offers come from Spain."
