Fulham are eyeing a £400,000 summer swoop that would end Stephen Crainey's fruitless fight for a football future at Celtic.
The Scotland left back - 22 this week - is on the way out of Parkhead after just 26 first team starts.
He is sick of his battle to break through under Martin O'Neill and is determined to try and kickstart his career elsewhere.
Now Fulham boss Chris Coleman - desperate to land a left back for the new Premiership campaign - is mulling over a move for the promising defender.
The young Scot has been strongly recommended to him, and that could see the side bankrolled by Mohammed Al Fayed moving in ahead of Premiership rivals Aston Villa.
Weekend reports of a £350,000 bid for Crainey from new Villa boss David O'Leary are off the mark.
O'Leary's No2 Roy Aitken is an admirer of the player but that is as far as it has progressed.
Relegated Sunderland also rate Crainey highly but Black Cats manager Mick McCarthy must move players on before he buys.
