Fulham have failed with an approach for Aston Villa's out-of-favour defender Alpay Ozalan.
The Turkish centre back was one of the stars of the World Cup but has fallen out with Villa boss Graham Taylor, and has been looking for a new club for some time.
Fulham are the latest club to enquire about signing Alpay, but Taylor has rebuffed the bid, despite previous suggestions that he would let the player leave for nothing.
"We have had an enquiry from Fulham but it was unacceptable," stated Taylor.
Reports that the Londoners offered a loan deal are wide of the mark as temporary transfers are not permitted betwenn Premiership clubs
