Fulham get home draw in League cup

last updated Monday 03rd September 2007, 10:35 AM

Fulham moved into the Third Round of the Carling League Cup with an away win at Shrewsbury.

The draw for the Third Round took place on the weekend and Fulham were drawn at home against fellow Premiership contenders Bolton.

Bolton last beat The Cottagers at Craven Cottage in 1992.

Elsewhere Carling Cup holders Chelsea face a tricky trip to Coca-Cola Championship club Hull in the third round of the competition.

While last season's beaten finalists Arsenal face Newcastle in one of several all-Premier League ties.

Blackburn play Birmingham, Reading are at home to Liverpool and Tottenham face Middlesbrough in other all top-flight ties, while Manchester United are at home to Championship leaders Coventry, West Ham face Plymouth at Upton Park and Manchester City have home advantage against Norwich.

Premier League clubs on their travels include Everton at Sheffield Wednesday and Portsmouth at Burnley.

Giantkillers Morecambe's reward for knocking out Preston and Wolves is another trip to face Championship opposition, Sheffield United, while the winners of the abandoned tie between Nottingham Forest and Leicester will visit Aston Villa, whose boss Martin O'Neill played for the former and managed the latter.

The east midlands rivals will replay their game on September 18 after Foxes defender Clive Clarke collapsed during the original game at the City Ground.

Luton's reward for beating Sunderland, meanwhile, is a home tie against Charlton.
