Fulham have at last completed the signing of Swedish full-back Fredrik Stoor after talks lasting a number of weeks.
The Cottagers stated:
Fulham Football Club is pleased to announce the signing of Fredrik Stoor from Norwegian side Rosenborg BK. The four-year-deal will see the player at the Club until the summer of 2012.
The 24-year-old Swedish right-back has recently broken into the international scene having made eight appearances for his national side, three of which were made during Sweden’s group stage matches at this summer’s Euro 2008 tournament.
Stoor was born in Stockholm and joined local side Hammarby at the age of 12 where he progressed through the ranks at youth level before making his first senior appearance in 2003. He moved to Rosenborg BK in 2007 having helped Hammarby to a third place finish in the league.
Stoor made four Champions League appearances for Rosenborg last season which included a memorable 2-0 away victory against Valencia.
Speaking at Fulham’s training ground this morning Roy Hodgson said:
“I am delighted that Fredrik has joined us officially today. He is a player I have followed for some time through my contacts with the Swedish national team. I watched him closely with his club side and we did a lot of research on him.
“Of course I had the opportunity to see him at close hand in the three matches that Sweden played in Euro 2008. and we decided that this was the player for us at right back. Certainly with John Pantsil and Fredrik Stoor we have excellent cover for that position for the coming season.”
