Few players make media headlines before their league debuts, but that is exactly what happened to Fulham's Keanu Marsh-Brown.
In November, the highly-rated 18-year-old was linked with a £500,000 move to either Tottenham or Manchester City, who were both rumoured to be interested in signing him this summer.
Despite the transfer speculation, he has since pledged his future to Fulham, even though he has not made a single appearance for the Cottagers.
It may not be long delayed, however, with Marsh-Brown underlining his potential with some excellent performance while on loan at Milton Keynes Dons.
Marsh-Brown, who has born in Hammersmith, started his career with Arsenal and played in the same youth team as Jack Wilshere before being shown the door by the Gunners.
Marsh-Brown has since recalled: "Arsenal released me because they said I was too small, but then [Fulham's chief youth scout Adrian McElligott] invited me here for a day's trial and Fulham signed me the next day."
The full-back who has also played as a winger has found it hard to break into Mark Hughes's first-team squad with players such as Carlos Salcido, Chris Baird, Stephen Kelly and Matthew Briggs ahead of him,
So instead of allowing Marsh-Brown to spend more time in the reserves, Fulham have loaned him to ambitious League One side MK Dons to give him some valuable first-team experience.
His football education has gone well at Stadium:MK as he builds on his knowledge from Fulham's successful academy and he even scored in their 1-1 draw with Brentford when he converted Luke Chadwick's cross.
His performances have pleased manager Karl Robinson, who has persuaded Fulham to extend his stay with the club until the end of the season.
Robinson said: "I'm absolutely thrilled. He's a wonderful player with tremendous ability and talent, and he gives us a great pace and threat in the final third.
"The positive thing is it has been agreed the deal will include the play-offs as well, so if we get to where we want to get to we've got him available for those games.
"Keanu has done really well in a number of games and we have him here until the end of the season which I'm more than happy with."
