Fulham back on track - Standard

Frenchman Louis Saha ended his mini-goal drought to give Fulham the half-time lead over Nottingham Forest at Craven Cottage.

The 22-year-old striker had gone three games without a goal as Fulham's march towards the First Division title stuttered in recent weeks.

But he rediscovered his goalscoring touch by combining well with strike partner Luis Boa Morte to give his side a 20th-minute lead.

Boa Morte, on loan from Southampton, has been the subject of transfer speculation this week with Portuguese giants Benfica reported to be interested in taking the Lisbon-born 23-year-old back his to homeland.

However, he put that to one side by neatly setting up Saha, who beat goalkeeper Dave Beasant from six yards.

David Johnson had a chance to fire Forest level within three minutes, but the former Ipswich forward was denied from close range by Maik Taylor.

Boa Morte, looking to add to his 16-goal tally, forced Beasant into a smart save on the half hour, while at the other end Johnson shot wide.

Captain John Collins had earlier twice gone close to giving the Cottagers, who have not beaten Forest at home since 1974, an early lead on his return.

The veteran midfielder, out since the 3-1 win at West Brom on December 9, struck a third-minute free-kick wide after Boa Morte had been fouled by Gary Jones.

One minute later, the former Scotland international tried his luck from the edge of the box, but again failed to force Beasant into a save.
