WEST HAM UNITED have confirmed that Fulham
have lodged a bid for Frederic Kanoute, but the East London club emphasised
that this has been rejected.
Both Fulham and Aston Villa have been monitoring the situation over the
last few weeks and Kanoute himself increased speculation last week when
he said he wanted to move to Craven Cottage and team up with his former
Lyon boss Jean Tigana.
However, Hammers managing director Paul Aldridge has underlined the club`s
commitment to keep the Frenchman.
"Yes, its true, Fulham have made an official approach for Fredi
but their offer has been declined," said Aldridge.
"Villa have been asked to be kept informed of any possible developments
but I really want to draw a line under the Fredi issue now.
"We chatted to him and his agent again last week and were looking
forward to seeing Fredi back for the start of pre-season training next
week."
The 23-year-old was unsettled by the departure of Harry Redknapp at the
end of last season and the appointment of Glenn Roeder seems to have done
little to appease the situation.
