Unfortunately in recent years the Worthington Cup has come close to losing
any prestige it might have had with many teams, Man Utd in particular, showing
open contempt for the competition. The common policy, pursued by clubs focusing
on European commitment or important league issues, of fielding weakened
squads makes the Worthington a difficult proposition from the betting point
of view.
However the weakened team syndrome helps mid-table Premiership squads and
they tend to take the competition more seriously because of their real chance
of getting into Europe.
From Fulham's point of view the club is still very much focussed on the
mission to establish itself as a Premiership club so the Worthington may
still not be a huge priority. However winning or losing against other Premiership
