Fulham had an 84th-minute penalty from Luis Boa Morte to thank for a share of the spoils at Cottage Road where they were presented with the Division One championship trophy after their clash with Wimbledon.
Boa Morte's spot kick cancelled out Jason Euell's penalty in the 73rd minute and Fulham skipper Andy Melville said: "The lads all enjoyed the presentation of the trophy and the celebrations at the end.
"But they're disappointed that we didn't win. The manager wanted us to set a new record for the number of points and we wanted to do it for him."
Asked about Fulham's prospects for next season in the top flight Melville said: "I went up with Sunderland and it's a totally different style that Fulham play.
"We've all enjoyed the season, the manager gives us licence so there's no fear at all. We've played several Premier sides in the past two years and done well.
"But this will be different because we'll be playing them every week. Everyone thinks it's going to be easy, but it will take a lot of hard work."
Melville added with a grin that the manager might even allow the players to have a drink on the way back from the final match of the season at Grimsby next Sunday.
