Paul Peschisolido of Fulham starred in the
0-0 draw between Canada and Brazil in the Confederations Cup taking place
in Japan.
Brazil were unable to break down a spirited Canadian side who defended in
depth with Peschi playing a lonely role up front for much of the match
Paul, a reserve at Fulham, troubled the Brazilian defence a number of times
with his quick feet and speed of thought.
One such occasion in the second half saw Brazil's AC Milan keeper
Dida produce a superb diving save to keep out the diminutive striker's goalbound
25-yard effort.
Again in the 75th minute Peschi gave Canada
had a great opportunity to create what would have been the upset of all
time. Peschi collected the ball on the right wing jinked past the Brazil
defenders to reach the by line before cutting the ball back to two Canadian
attackers but they were unable to convert a good chance.
