Man City have been dealt another injury setback with the news that Andrew Cole is likely to miss the rest of the season.
The striker has had another operation on the knee ligament he damaged against Charlton in February, and after making slow progress in his recovery more surgery was deemed necessary.
"Andy had another operation on his knee yesterday and we believe he will be out for the rest of the season," manager Stuart Pearce stated on Thursday morning.
"He had an operation a number of weeks ago, it was not settling down as we would have liked so they removed a floating body in there yesterday. It was a minor operation, but with the season running down we think it will be very doubtful that will get him back on the pitch this season."
The striker had impressed since his arrival from Fulham in the summer, bagging 10 goals from 22 starts.
