Fulham defender Steve Finnan, hoping to return tonight after a month out with a rib injury, is pleased that managerial situation at the Club is finally out in the open.

He said: "It has been a bit of a strange season. We have been waiting on news about the future of the manager all season, to see if he would be staying or not.

"So it has been a bit weird, especially the second half of the season. We knew when he first came he was here for three years with an option for longer, so we knew this year something would have to happen. But the longer it goes on the more you want to know who you are going to be playing for next season.

"We are all disappointed that Jean is not going to be here because he got us promoted and has given a lot to the players.

"It is probably going to be the summer before we know who the new manager is going to be and before then we have to try to get as many points as possible to give Jean a good send off."

The defender said: "It will be an interesting summer. It is inevitable that sometimes managers and players move on. No one stays for really long periods.

"There have been a few managers at Fulham since I joined and lot of players have come and gone. Football moves on.

"I still think there is still a lot going for this place. There are decent players and we are in the Premiership.

"The fans may not think so, with not knowing who is coming in as manager or what ground we will be playing at in the long term. But the players just have to get on with their jobs."
