F.A. Cup 4th round details and results

last updated Sunday 27th January 2002, 9:15 PM

Fulham did just enough at York to make the 5th round draw of the 2002 F.A. Cup. With a goal from Steed Malbranque and Steve Marley in each half Fulham head home to London 2-0 winners waiting to see if we can get a soft home draw in the next round. The draw for the Fifth Round will be made at Soho Square on Sunday evening at approximately 8.55pm by Rio Ferdinand and Bobby Zamora and will be televised live on BBC1 and Sky Sports and broadcast live on 5 live and Talksport.

The York survival fight got a big boost, off the pitch, by Chairman al Fayed donating Fulham's share of the gate receipts to the campaign and hopefully it will help the Minstermen's campaign to overcome their current problems as we did when we faced a similar situation.

Today's game was quite open with plenty of chances being created at both ends of the park and with just 19 fouls in the whole game, 10 by York and 9 by Fulham. Steve Marlet got a bit upset during the game when penalised and was yellow carded for punching the ball away. It must have done him some good as 20 minutes later he burst through and blasted Fulham's second goal into the back of the net showing more of the talent Jean Tigana believes in. Once again Steed Malbranque had a good game crowning it with a fine goal after being put through after brilliant bit of football by Louis Saha. Steve Finnan, as usual, and Alain Goma both had good games.

A good job done by Jean Tigana's Black and White Army in circumstances more than a little foreign to some of our super stars. It is good to see that Boss Tigana has purchased quality players that are also prepared to do the business despite the mud and poor weather. Well done everyone

Other Cup games
Biggest surprise of Rnd 4 is the 2-0 defeat of Man Utd by Middlesbrough. West Ham were able to get a draw at Fulham Broadway so have a good chance of putting the blues out in the replay while Charlton lost 2-1 at home against Walsall. On Sunday Arsenal beat Liverpool 1-0 after 3 players were sent off and so called Arsenal supporters were throwing coins at Liverpool players..

COME ON YOU WHITES
