Eddie Lewis's international career
in jeopardy

Eddie Lewis's hopes of going out on loan have been hit by an ankle injury,
denting his chances of regaining his place with the US national team.
The former San Jose winger was hoping he could revive his international
career by getting regular football outside of Craven Cottage.
At least two clubs made enquiries about him last month and Fulham were keen
for him to go.
But now the left-sided midfielder has injured his ankle in training and
will be out for at least a couple of weeks.
"It's very frustrating. I was definitely up for going somewhere on
loan. I need to be playing regular football if I want to play for my country,"
he said. "The (US) manager (Bruce Arena) has made it very clear he
will only pick players who are playing for their clubs, and he's right.
As soon as I'm fit I'll be hoping to find a loan deal because I know it's
going to be difficult to get a place in the Fulham team."
Lewis's chances at Craven Cottage have been hampered by the fact that manager
Jean Tigana does not use wingers. The American star has been outstanding
in the reserves week-in, week-out but has not played a single first-team
game this season.
