Fulham striker
Luis Boa Morte was at the centre of another controversy after it was claimed
that referee Phil Dowd sent him off when he saw the Portuguese international
allegedly bite Everton captain David Weir.
The Cottagers' two-goal hero Barry Hayles told PA Sport that Dowd gave his
team-mate a straight red card because he claimed to have witnessed the 24-year-old
allegedly attack Weir. The clash sparked a shameful 22-man brawl that could
lead to a Football Association charge against both clubs.
The comments by Hayles added to the furore surrounding Saturday's Craven
Cottage fixture, in which visiting fans hurled a bottle at Fulham's Steed
Malbranque and Toffees boss Walter Smith also risked FA censure with a ferocious
verbal assault on Dowd's performance
