Crewe v Fulham - team news

last updated Friday 22nd December 2000, 12:52 PM
Frenchman Nicolas Sahnoun is expected to retain his place in the Fulham side to face struggling Crewe at Gresty Road.

The forward, on-loan from French First Division outfit Bordeaux, came off at half-time after picking up a knock during the 3-1 home victory over Tranmere.

But he confirmed his fitness by coming through a reserve game against Reading, when he played the full 90 minutes.

Former Germany international striker Karlheinz Riedle, who has yet to feature in the first team this season, again came through unscathed as he continues his recovery from a long-term back injury.

Fulham, 10 points clear at the top, will be putting their unbeaten away league record on the line against Dario Gradi's side, having won six of their 10 games away from Craven Cottage this season.

Crewe face a tough task to move themselves clear of the relegation zone when they take on the league leaders.

Boss Dario Gradi was encouraged by last Saturday's performance against Crystal Palace, despite conceding a late goal to miss out on all three points, and is confident his side will pull themselves out of the relegation places.

Despite initially blasting his men for not claiming the win last week, Gradi later praised the teams' "fighting spirit".

Striker Rodney Jack may be in line for a recall, depending on his problems with back spasms. Rob Hulse will continue to deputise if Jack fails to recover.

And Steve MacAuley may return despite suffering concussion in the Palace clash, with Sean Smith on standby.

Gradi was also boosted by the signing, on a non-contract basis, of former Stockport veteran Jim Gannon, who will add some experience to Alex's young outfit.
