Cookie Coleman asks for a transfer

last updated Saturday 15th July 2000, 8:30 AM
Chris Coleman has stunned Fulham by handing in a transfer request. The Fulham captain has told the club he wants to leave after getting nowhere in discussions about a new contract.

Coleman is being linked with moves to Manchester City and Blackburn Rovers and he wants a big pay rise to stay at the club.

Unfortunately, it seems Fulham aren't playing ball. Reports suggest the club are reluctant to up his wages in mid-contract, and that has upset the player.

His transfer request has not been granted so far, so it does not necessarily mean he will leave Craven Cottage. But there is clearly some serious talking to do.
