Coleman remarked on Friday on the irony of Louis Saha being handed his France debut just three weeks after making his £12.8million move to Manchester United.

The striker had been in great form for the Cottagers throughout the first half of this season but it was only after the 25-year-old made his controversial switch to Old Trafford that he was handed his full international debut.

Saha started against Belgium in Brussels on Wednesday night and scored his country's second goal eight minutes from time to clinch their 2-0 victory.

Coleman, who again voiced his frustration that the player abandoned Fulham halfway through the season, said: "Louis was banging in the goals for us left, right and centre but didn't get a sniff.

"Then he joined Manchester United for a massive fee and he gets in.

"I am pleased for Louis though, as it was always his dream to play for France."
