John Collins says Burnley stopped us passing it around
John Collins had no complaints after Fulham suffered only their fourth league defeat of the season at Burnley.

The runaway leaders went down 2-1 at Turf Moor, a ground where they have not won for 50 years.

Barry Hayles put them ahead early in the second half but two goals in the last 15 minutes from Ian Moore and Glen Little gave the Clarets the points.

"It was one of our toughest games of the season and you could see right from the kick-off they were up for it," said the Cottagers coach.

"But we took the lead and the disappointing thing is that having taken the lead we lost the game.

"The pitch was bumpy but we had a lot of possession and passed it about well.

"Burnley defended well and deep - they marked our front two very tightly and never gave them space.

"We didn't create that many chances ."

Collins said: "All credit to Burnley because they were obviously up for it from the start. We tried to pass it around but were prevented from doing so by the Burnley players."

Burnley manager Stan Ternent was delighted with his side's comeback victory. After a run of only 1 win in 12 games, Burnley needed something to get their play-off bid back on track.

Ternent said that his side had finally gained reward after some good performances. "I think the lads had got fed up with playing well and losing. I am delighted to have beaten the best team in the league," said Ternent.

"The crowd tonight reminded me of the crowd here in the '60s. But people - players - have to give them something to shout about and we haven't been doing that recently," Ternent candidly admitted.
