Can Louis Saha beat the
Fulham all time scoring record set by Frank Newton?
Frank "Bonzo" Newton, who was signed from Stockport in 1931 for £575,
scored a total of 88 goals during his time with Fulham. His claim to fame is
the 43 league goals he scored in the 1931-32 season which culminated in Fulham
being promoted as Champions of the Third Division South. In that Championship
season Frank scored four hat-tricks and set the record for most league goals
scored by any Fulham player in one season.
Louis Saha is one of the few Fulham player to look like beating Bonzo's record
and after the first 20 games Louis has scored 15 goals while Frank Newton had
scored 21 goals. The current trend indicates that Louis is going to miss the
record by seven goals unless he can get a few more hat tricks.
