AUSTRALIAN goalkeeper Travis
Glen is to spend the next month on trial in West London with both Fulham
and Chelsea.
The 19-year-old is the current incumbent for Australian side MSC Liverpool,
although he only broke into the first-team of the New South Wales Super
League side last month.
Glen will fly to England on August 15 to pursue his chance of glory, after
he has finished the domestic season with MSC.
"It did come from nowhere," the young Aussie revealed. "My
dad's a scout for a Fifa agent and he set things up for me over there. "I
was set to go to Blackburn at the start but that fell through. Then I was
told that I had trials with Fulham and Chelsea. It was great news. "I
want to keep doing a good job for MSC, stay in the first-team and do the
best possible thing by the team. Then, at the end of the season, I can think
about other things. "You have to believe you are good enough or you
wouldn't apply for these types of chances."
Glen is desperate to fulfil his dream of moving to England and hopes he
will learn from his trip. "I head off to fulfil an ambition that I've
had since I was eight-years-old," enthused Glen. "To train with
world-class players such as Mark Bosnich, Edwin Van der Sar and Jimmy Floyd
Hasselbaink is the chance of a lifetime." |
