The Arsenal injury list grows as The Gunners prepare for a must win game at Fulham on the weekend
Defender Ashley Cole faces up to three more weeks out after picking up an ankle injury on his latest return to action on Monday. The England left-back limped out of Arsenal's reserve team clash with Tottenham after only seven minutes.
Cole, 25, has played just over one hour of competitive football since October as he has struggled with a fractured right foot and thigh injuries.
His latest injury is described by Arsenal as "a sprained ankle". Cole sustained a thigh injury in January on his return from a three-month spell on the sidelines after breaking a bone in his foot.
"It is not a recurrence of the old injury. But there is no telling at this stage as to how long he will be out for."
Arsenal will now go to Fulham in the Premiership on Saturday without a recognised left-back as Gael Clichy is also out with a broken bone in his foot.
Midfielder Freddie Ljungberg is certain to miss Sweden's World Cup warm-up friendly against Steve Staunton's Republic of Ireland because of a calf injury, Sweden's national team doctor Magnus Forssblad said on Monday.
"It's impossible. He's got a bleeding in the calf and it hurts when he walks," Forssblad told Swedish news agency TT. "Fredrik will probably be out for another week."
