Another Jimmy Bullard transfer rumour
This item was in the London Times today:
Jimmy Bullard has not been offered a new Fulham contract because his manager is concerned that he does not pull his weight in midfield.
Bullard was the man of the match during his team’s 1-0 victory over Arsenal on Saturday, but he could leave Craven Cottage this week if Bolton Wanderers increase their offer for the player by £1 million, to £4 million.
“You can’t have midfield players who go missing when there is defending to be done,” Roy Hodgson, the Fulham manager, said. “We have worked hard on this. He is not a born defender.”
While in The Mirror this appears:
Roy Hodgson's men staged a remarkable transformation in fortunes after last week's defeat at Hull, with the manager agreeing that Bullard and Murphy had proved decisive.
He said: "We didn't give them time to settle and you can't have central midfield players who are not prepared to bring their straw to the water when it comes to defending.
"Jimmy is not a born defender but when we lose the ball he has to get in the shape and know how to defend.
"He has never had any problems with that. Him and Danny won quite a few challenges. Their decisions over when to challenge and when to control people was very good."
