Abdeslam Ouaddou is progressing well following his freak training injury.
After receiving a ball full in the face, he suffered some damage to his
eye that has needed surgery to correct.
"The ball hit my right eye during training," he said. "It
was very painful and there was some bleeding inside so I had to have an
operation. Afterwards the doctor has said that I have to rest for a month.
Fortunately, the operation was very quick and straightforward, using lasers.
They can do things now that they couldn't do before, so I shouldn't be out
for two long."
Although very upbeat, the Moroccan international was obviously frustrated
at being hampered in his fight to establish himself in the first team, He
spoke of his eagerness to get back:
"I'm very keen to get going again. For two weeks I'm not allowed to
do anything, but then I can start to do some running and basic exercises.
Fulham is a good club, there is a good spirit in the team, good fans, and
it's very ambitious. I think that in the next two or three years it will
be at the very top level. It's very important to me that I play a part in
that."
Abdes watched the Chelsea game with interest. "I enjoyed Sunday's match
very much. It was a hard game because it was a derby, and these matches
are always very rough. Each team had a half, so I think a draw was a fair
result. But we need the points from the next games, that's all that matters
now."
