Fulham have made an audacious bid to prise Frederic Kanoute away from
West Ham.
The Cottagers lodged an offer, understood to be around £8 million, this
morning. (June 28) and are now awaiting a response from the Hammers' board.
Frederic Kanoute has admitted he
would like to join Fulham after the club. Kanoute told SkySports:
"I have to admit I'd like to play for them (Fulham), because it is
a club that I like, I like how they play.
"I know the coach Jean Tigana very well, because he used to train
Lyon when I was younger, so I know him and how he works. And I know it
is a club were I would feel good.
"I have spent a very good time here, and it is not that something
is wrong it is just that things have changed now and during the season
the coach (Harry Redknapp) has gone and a few players, like Rio (Ferdinand)
and Frank Lampard, have gone too.
"So things are not the same, and I think I have to do something else
too, because it is not the same when I joined the club.
"So I think I would feel better in Fulham now."
West Ham manager Glenn Roeder has already
warned off Aston Villa about the £10m-rated former Lyon ace, and insisted
at the weekend that the player was not for sale.
He said: "I can emphasise right from the outset that Freddie is not available.
"Freddie is bound to attract interest because he proved last season what
a good player he is.
"Now I am relishing the chance to help improve him even more and perhaps
find someone to play up the middle with him, from either within the club
or outside."
