1. Shambles, Man Utd goal should have been disallowed. 2. Great to see AP is leaving and we actually have decent corners now. 3. Sessesgnon looked very poor and off the pace. 4. Muniz is not good enough to lead the line from the start. 5. We never really troubled United and played in front of them until the subs were made, we didn’t get behind United and we need players who can do this. 5. Leno does not command his penalty box and definitely not his 6 yard box. 6. United are a poor team. 7. We need at least four first team additions to increase the strength of the squad. 8. Bassey and Mbeumo battle was fantastic to watch, Bassey always prone for an error but has become a real fan’s favourite. 9. We need Robinson back fit, Robinson, Tete, Bassey, Andersen is a decent back four. 10. Lukic and Berge were decent yesterday, although we will need a little more creativity at home in some matches.

11. Neither Man Utd penalty nor their goal should have been allowed. Two points dropped down to VAR and ref. All things considered two points from those opening fixtures is ok. I agree we need a couple of wingers and more depth at 6 and 8. Striker would be nice but a goal scoring 10 would also please me.

Match of the Day pointed to clear fouls committed by Man U during the corners that led to their goal, and the play that led to the penalty. For example, Bassey was merely shoving off a player who was deliberately running full tilt at him. This type of play is premeditated and organised, and if mainstream programs like MOTD can analyse it for what it is, then the Premier League should be calling out their manager. (There may be an argument that VAR should spot it too, but they only have so much time during play for that. But it’s all clearly premeditated.)

Mr Angry, you are so wrong about Leno, and I almost made him my MOTM, as without him we would have been a goal down early in the game, and how different that would have been. Leno's biggest fault, is that he is just not tall enough, and that is a fact of nature, and there is nothing we can do about that. If that penalty had been on target, he would never have reached it, but then again neither would any other keeper in the league. Like all keepers he will have a bad game, but they are few and far between. West Ham have bigger problems in this area.

There’s more than just West Ham with question marks over their goalkeeper. A lot of criticism seems to come down to asking the keepers to maintain possession and play short passes around the back line. Leno is good at this, though many other keepers less so.

I agree Craven, Leno is just too small to be a top prem keeper playing against strikers and defenders over 6ft 3 ….this is why he can’t he command his 6 yard box, there is much to admire about his keeper skills but the very elite clubs wouldn’t look at him and was one of the reasons Arsenal were happy to see him leave. In a season he will cost us goals especially from set plays

We would have lost the game yesterday if Leno had not made some brilliant saves. What are you talking about.

Leno is 6 foot 2 inches tall. , Banks and Shilton both 6 foot .

Ridiculous to compare Banks and Shilton to today’s game as players are on average vastly taller. That said, Shilton’s lack of height was always his Achilles heel, think World Cup 1990 semi final a taller keeper would have saved Brehme’s deflected free kick. Shilton good shot stopper and had a presence in his penalty box not just 6 yard box, same applied to Clemence; Leno doesn’t have that presence.

Wasn’t comparing, but you said Leno is too short to command the six yard box , how wrong you are .

Bassey clearly grabbed a man and threw him down. No Man U player appealed because the players see it as normal behavior, The refs have been told quite rightly to eliminate it. If you did that in a pub you would be done for assault and sent prison. This assault in the box at free kicks and corners never used to happen and it must stop as impressional people will see it as normal behaviour.

Jim you haven’t understood the game has changed since Banks and Shilton because of the height of players, but as mentioned Banks and Shilton were better keepers because they did command the box using their presence (organising, positioning etc) Leno does not have this allied with his lack in height means he does not command his penalty box, yes no doubt he is a good shot stopper but isn’t that the least you would expect! There is some interesting reports on why Arsenal let him go and that was his biggest criticism and watching him live with us it is clearly apparent it is a massive flaw to his game.

For United’s goal the corner landed just on the edge of the 6 yard box, Donnaruma would have cleared everybody that close to goal, Leno totally incapable of doing this. This will be a continued problem for us this season.
