Player description
Fulham signed midfielder Scott Parker from Tottenham Hotspur for an undisclosed fee on 19th August 2013.

Born in Lambeth, London, Parker made his name at Charlton Atheltic as a youngster and was famously filmed for a McDonald's advert doing keep-ups at the age of 13. Making his debut for Charlton as a 16-year-old in 1997, he quickly signed his first professional contract but didn't establish himself in the first team until 1999/2000 when he made 18 appearances and scored one goal as Charlton returned to the top flight.

Graduating to the England Under-21 setup, he chose a loan move to Norwich City to get more experience and impressed enough upon his return to dislodge Mark Kinsella from the Addicks midfield. He became a fixture in the side, made his debut for the senior England team and proved he could play at the highest level with a number of eye-catching displays until he left for Chelsea in January 2004.

Staying only 18 months in West London, he was named PFA Young Player of the Year at the end of the 2003/04 campaign but didn't get a chance to play in his favoured position in 2004/05 and, despite claiming a Premier League winners' medal, he moved from Stamford Bridge to Newcastle United that summer.

During two seasons at St James' Park, his tough tackling and never-say-die attitude saw him become a fans' favourite and he rose to captain the side, leading them to UEFA Intertoto Cup glory before heading back to London again to take on a new challenge with West Ham United in June 2007.

Named West Ham's Player of the Year for three consecutive seasons, he continued to impress in midfield and made 129 appearances - taking the honour of Football Writers' Association Footballer of the Year in 2011 and captaining England the following year.

On the final day of the summer transfer window in 2011, Parker signed for Tottenham and made 62 appearances for the side before choosing another London club, Fulham, to take his career onwards.

Parker's contract at Craven Cottage was set to expire on 30 June, but he had been in talks with the Championship club over an extension but before June was out Scott Parker retired as a player and said.

"I believe now is the right time to move on to the next chapter in my life and career," he said in a statement.

"I feel incredibly honoured and proud to have enjoyed the career that I have and I've loved every moment of it."

He then returned to Tottenham to take up a coaching role with the Spurs Under 18's

Scott Parker played 101 times for Fulham, scoring 27 goals, and providing an excellent example to all other professionals. One of the greats
