Referee Lewis Smith began refereeing in 2009. When he joined PGMO’s Development Group in 2022, he had just started to oversee matches in the fifth tier of the English game

Mr Smith moved up to the National League five seasons ago in 2019/2020 and is now in his second full season as an EFL referee having been promoted in the summer, he did have some experience of refereeing in the Championship, League One and League Two. Mr Smith made his Championship debut during the 2022/23 season and his Premier League debut in 2024.

The last time Ref Smith bossed a Fulham game was in the FA Cup home game against Middlesbrough in January 2026 which Fulham came from behind to win 3-1. Mr Smith yellow carded three players including one Fulham player Jorge Cuenca, for a foul. Fulham's goal scorers were Harry Wilson, Emile Smith Rowe and Kevin.

Earlier in the season Mr Smith refed Fulham in a League Cup game against Bristol City at The Cottage in August 2025 which we won 2-0. Only one player was booked and that was Timothy Castagne of Fulham for a foul and Raul Jimenez was Fulham's goal scorer.

Ref Smith's previous visit was in August 2024 when Fulham draw 1-1 away at Ipswich Town He booked five players including Sasa Lukic, Antonee Robinson and Adama Traore, all for fouls. Adama Traore was our goal scorer.

Before the game at Ipswich Town he refed our home 2-1 defeat by Aston Villa in February 1924. He booked five Fulham players and two Villa players.

The first time Mr Smith refed a Fulham game was the League Cup game, in November 2023, away at Ipswich which we won 3-1. He booked five players including Sasa Lukic, Raul Jimenez and Harrison Reed.

The last time Mr Smith refed an Ipswich Town Game was in August 2026 when they beat Leicester City 3-1 in a League Cup game. He booked 5 players three of which were Ipswich players.

Last season, 25/26, he refed 50 games and dished out 156 yellows and four reds, so an average of 3.9 yellows per game

His busiest game in recent times was the Scunthorpe vrs Harrogate game, in September 2026, when he booked four Scunthorpe playeres and two Harrogate players.
