Fulham returned to winning ways with an emphatic 3-0 win over Wolverhampton Wanderers at the Cottage on Saturday.
Ryan Sessegnon has enjoyed scoring against this opponent in both spells with the Club, and he was at it again as early as the ninth minute, slotting home after being found by an excellent Raúl Jiménez pass.
The next big talking point was a red card for Wolves defender Emmanuel Agbadou, who was dismissed after taking out Josh King when through on goal, giving Fulham further control going into half-time.
And it was all us after the break, deservedly adding to the scoreline through Harry Wilson’s pearler, and a Yerson Mosquera own goal.
Marco Silva rang four changes from the last gasp defeat in Newcastle a week earlier, with Joachim Andersen and Wilson returning from injury to take the places of Issa Diop and Adama Traoré, while King was restored to the starting XI after his goal scoring heroics in the Carabao Cup in midweek, and Kevin was handed a first Premier League start. Emile Smith Rowe and Saša Lukic were the two to drop to the bench, where they were joined by the fit again Samuel Chukwueze and Rodrigo Muniz – a most welcome sight indeed.
Wolves actually started fairly brightly but it was first blood to Fulham when Sessegnon struck early on. The left-back had ventured up to be our furthest player forward, a tactic which paid off richly when Raúl’s perfect pass slipped him through one-on-one, and the Academy graduate made no mistake with his finish.
The Whites were controlling proceedings but without creating a plethora of chances, though Wilson wasn’t far wide with his low shot as he looked to catch goalkeeper Sam Johnstone out at his near post.
Wilson then showed brilliant anticipation and pace to intercept the ball, pop it 30 yards down the flank, and still reach it ahead of Toti who had a decent headstart. The winger sent it in-field to Kevin who was about to get in on goal, until a vital tackle from last man Santiago Bueno.
Wolves’ task was made all the harder when Agbadou was given his marching orders in the 36th minute. After beating him to the ball, King cleverly poked it towards goal, meaning that when Agbadou wiped him out, it was denial of a clear goal scoring opportunity.

The foul on Josh King that leads to the red card
The visitors had rarely threatened but had two gilt-edged chances at the end of the first half. First, Jorgen Strand Larsen missed Ki-Jana Hoever’s delivery across the face by a hair’s breadth for what would have been a tap-in, with Wolves recycling that ball and working a cross to Ladislav Krejci, who drew a save from Bernd Leno.
Seven minutes into the second half, the crowd enticed Kenny Tete to shoot when it opened up for him 25 yards out. He duly obliged, catching his effort sweetly and requiring a sprawling stop from Johnstone.
Tete was getting forward as often as possible, and after sending another long ranger over, drew a save from Johnstone after playing a one-two with Raúl.
He then had another chance from the subsequent corner, but couldn’t get a firm enough contact on Andersen’s knockback and Johnstone was able to claim.
Fulham were turning the screw and soon grabbed the decisive second goal. After Sander Berge’s shot was blocked, you couldn’t have wished for it to drop onto anyone else’s left foot, with Wilson sweeping home emphatically first time from 20 yards.
King looked to put the game to bed once and for all when he let fly from distance with an effort that deflected over, with a huge touch off a Wolves defender that somehow no official spotted.
Wolves knew what Wilson was planning when he cut inside on 70 minutes, but stopping him was another thing entirely, and they were grateful to Johnstone for turning away his curler at full stretch.
Silva made a hat-trick of changes soon after, with Kevin and King going off to fine ovations as they made way for Smith Rowe and Tom Cairney, but the biggest cheer was reserved for the return of Muniz, who replaced Raúl.
With quarter of an hour to play, Fulham had a third. Alex Iwobi slipped Sessegnon in to his left, Smith Rowe couldn’t connect with his cross but did enough to put Mosquera off, who diverted it beyond Johnstone.
Chukwueze, recently on for Wilson, almost made it four when he rattled the post after excellent work from Iwobi, with Cairney seeing an effort deflect over on the follow-up.
Chukwueze had the crowd on their feet again a minute later, bedazzling three Wolves defenders to skip into the box, before bending in a sumptuous shot towards the far post that required a fine fingertip stop from Johnstone.
That would have been a perfect end to the afternoon, but three goals and three points will do more than nicely.

"Very important for us, definitely. All the conversations with the players in the build-up were about what a big game it was for us after a bad run.
"We have been strong at home, completely different results so far at home and away.
"But the number of clean sheets have not been good enough for us so far this season and it was very important for us to do it. I have to be pleased and congratulate the players."
