Koller too expensive for Fulham?

FULHAM have made an ambitious £6million bid for giant Czech striker Jan Koller.

The Division One side, backed by chairman Mohamed Al Fayed's riches, want the targetman to bolster their Premiership promotion campaign.

Jan Koller may not be for Fulham
But Anderlecht general manager Michel Verschueren insists he will not sell the 6ft 7ins forward so cheaply - and while the Belgians are still in the Champions League.

Verschueren said: "Fulham aren’t valuing Jan Koller at his true worth - we’ll never let him go for so little.

"Apart from that, our Czech international deserves better than to develop in that division. Of course Fulham are right up at the top of the league, but all the same...

"Finally, we need him. Anderlecht are on the point of qualifying for the next stage of the Champions League. It would be suicide to weaken ourselves by selling him."

Anderlecht are in Group G of the Champions League with former European Cup winners Manchester United.

They lost the first game against the Red Devils 5-1 but beat them 2-1 in Belgium two weeks ago.

Koller, 27, who has hit nine goals in 11 league games this season, admits he is a fan of English football - and Liverpool would be his first choice.

He said: "Some people say the Premiership is not as good as Spain or Italy, but I disagree.

"I would rather go to England - and Anfield is the place for me to go because I have two friends there already in Patrik Berger and Vladimir Smicer."

Anderlecht coach Aime Anthuenis said: "I'm sure he would do well in several leagues."

Manchester City targeted Koller over the summer, but were frightened off by the asking price
