Fulham want to make ex-Manchester United coach Rene Meulensteen their assistant manager.
Rene Meulensteen Fulham want Rene Meulensteen as their assistant manager
Under-fire boss Martin Jol hopes to recruit his fellow Dutchman after the 49-year-old was sacked by Anzhi Makhachkala.
Meulensteen spent 12 years working under Sir Alex Ferguson at Old Trafford before being dismissed after the arrival of David Moyes.
He became Anzhi's head coach during the summer but the Russian club axed him after just 16 days as part of cost-cutting plans.
Meulensteen's agent Fons van den Brande said: "Clubs in the Middle East are interested in him, but there are also a few clubs in Germany - and one big club in London.
"The London team want him as a coach alongside the manager. He has to make the right decision after his time in Russia."
UAE champions Al Ain are also keen on Meulensteen, who spent eight years coaching in Qatar before moving to Old Trafford in 2001.
Hailed by Robin van Persie as "truly one of the best in the world", the 49-year-old has already talked to several clubs.
But it is thought a return to the Premier League with the Cottagers would appeal to him.
