Fulham to beat Blackburn by 7 points

last updated Monday 02nd April 2001, 12:05 PM
Three wins on the trot, two of them away from home, show that the wobble we experienced in early February is now well behind us. The team's performance during the Tranmere game showed that the Mighty White Machine was nearly back to the standard set at the start of the season. A real joy to behold.

The Division One automatic promotion places look as if they are already booked by ourselves and Blackburn as both Bolton and Birmingham are sliding down the path to the playoff zone. In fact Birmingham look as if they could follow Watford right out of the race for promotion.

The Whites can win a maximum of 112 points while Blackburn can win a maximum of 102 but of course as we play each other on the 11th April the loser's maximum is reduced by three. If we win, which we can even if recent form indicates that Blackburn will be the winner, Blackburn's maximum point total becomes 99 and we could be Champions on Easter Monday. Fortunately even if we lose at Blackburn all current form lines indicate that we will be Champions by 7 points.

With the recent wins our form line is improving again and as can be seen below, in the detailed match forecasts, the only games we now have a concern over are the away fixture with Blackburn and our last home game of the season against Wimbledon. The Blackburn/Fulham form lines indicate that Blackburn , with home advantage, should beat us while Wimbledon with a continuing run of good results look as if they could snatch a draw as they did in the dying moments of their weekend game at Bolton.

As can be seen below Birmingham's recent poor form indicates that they could miss out on promotion completely although Bolton can now be fairly certain of a playoff place
