Fulham get away draw in the Cup

last updated Monday 10th January 2005, 10:41 PM

If Fulham win their F.A. Cup replay, which takes place on Wednesday the 19th January against Watford, they will be travelling away to Derby in the 4th Round.

Fulham have only met Derby in the F.A. Cup once which was back in 1936 and Fulham won 3-0 at the Cottage. Derby are currently plying their trade in the Football League Championship and ly eighth in the table, 3 points outside the playoff zone. They have lost just 2 games in their last 10 interestingly both of which were home games.

Another interesting tie is a South Coast derby between Southampton and Portsmouth.

The game will see Harry Redknapp face his former club just two months after quitting Fratton Park in acrimonious circumstances.

Non-league Exeter City will face another Premiership side if they manage to overcome Manchester United in their replay, with Middlesbrough drawn against them - although Steve McClaren is likely to be thinking that another clash against his former boss Sir Alex Ferguson is in the offing.

The top giantkillers from the last round - Oldham - have been handed a mouthwatering home tie against yet more North West opposition with Bolton looking to avoid similar treatment to that which Manchester City received at Boundary Park

Premiership leaders Chelsea and Arsenal will be happy to have been handed home draws, with Birmingham and Wolves the respective visitors.

Should Liverpool overcome Burnley in their postponed third round tie, then they will entertain Bournemouth of League One.

Newcastle, Everton and Charlton all face lower league opposition at home after being drawn against Coventry, Sunderland and Yeovil respectively.

There will be at least four non-top flight sides in the last 16.
