Fulham manager Marco Silva said Fulham midfielder Harrison Reed was a fitting scorer of Fulham’s last-gasp equaliser against Liverpool.

Reed’s rocket deep into stoppage-time earned Fulham a dramatic point at Craven Cottage.

It was only the midfielder’s fourth goal in Fulham colours – and his first since April 2023.

“If you ask me right now if I put him on to score that goal, I was not saying he was going to score that goal!” joked Silva. “It’s something he’s capable of doing. The goal is total inspiration from him.

“He’s spent nearly five years with me, been at the club six years. What a professional he is. It’s been tough for him. Last season, he didn’t play enough minutes compared to the seasons before and this season has been very tough for him.

“He’s a proven Premier League player, but the competition in that position is good in our team.

We have quality there with Harrison, Saša (Lukic), Sander (Berge), Tom Cairney and Alex Iwobi in some moments.

“I know he’s not pleased with the gametime he’s had so far, but he’s a top professional and one of the biggest leaders in our group.

He’s one of the most vocal guys, always pushing everybody forward and he’s working hard to play more. What an incredible moment.”

While a 90+7’ equaliser may suggest that Fulham stole a point, that couldn’t be further from the truth.

A point was the least Silva’s side deserved for their efforts, and it could have been more, with Harry Wilson seeing an audacious lofted effort bounce off the bar at 1-1.

“If we happened to lose that game, then it would have been completely unfair for us,” said Silva. “Looking at everything throughout the game, 2-1 would have been completely unfair for us.

“Our first goal was a brilliant one. The combinations, the opposite runs from Harry and Raúl (Jiménez) were top level, and what a finish from Harry again.

Every time he touches the ball now, he’s capable of doing something magical for us – and he did it again.

“The first-half was good for us in terms of organisation, not many chances for Liverpool.

We broke up everything and to be leading the score at half-time was completely deserved for us.

“After the equaliser, Liverpool were better and it boosted their confidence.

They pushed us more back and made it difficult for us, but we reacted well again and showed composure.

One of the biggest chances was Harry Wilson at 1-1 off the crossbar.

“In the end, it’s a fair result because it was not a game for us to lose at all.
