Hull City boss Nigel Pearson is keen to hand on-trial defender Liam Rosenior a contract at the KC Stadium.

The former Fulham and Reading defender is available as a free agent following his release by the Royals in the summer following a loan spell at Ipswich.

The versatile 24-year-old has been on trial with the Tigers and impressed during a reserve outing in the week as Hull's second string saw off Scunthorpe 3-0.

And Pearson is now eager to secure the services of the former England Under-21 international, who he knows from his time working as a coach for the Young Lions.

"He would add a different style of play to our squad. He can play at right-back or left-back," Pearson told the Hull Daily Mail.

"I've worked with him before at the European Championships in 2007. I know what he's all about.

"It's a surprise to me that he's actually available so if we can do something then great.

"We're not able to spend much money on players so we'll see if we can come to some sort of agreement with him."

Pearson is eager to get Rosenior on board in time for Saturday's Championship clash with Barnsley, adding when asked if the player could feature this weekend: "I would hope so, it would be nice." .
