Fulham boss Roy Hodgson today revealed that he was close to signing new deal with the club.
Hodgson said he had verbally agreed with Fulham owner Mohamed Al Fayed to stay beyond the end of the season, when his current deal expires, after the 3-0 win over Blackburn last night which lifted Fulham into the top 10 in the Premier League.
"It wasn't a difficult discussion," said Hodgson.
"We are basically in agreement and I've got to say it was very easy to come to that agreement.
"It seems that everyone is keen for me to stay and I've always made it perfectly clear that I'm happy to stay. I've never made any secret of the fact that I'm happy at Fulham and I'm enjoying the job here.
"It is just a matter now of putting the contract discussions that we have already had onto paper."
It is understood that Hodgson will sign a rolling contract that could be worth up to £5million by 2012, when he might combine his role at Fulham with coaching the Great Britain side to contest the London Olympics.
Hodgson, whose vast experience of international football includes coaching the Swiss, Finnish and United Arab Emirates national teams, is highly regarded within the Football Association and the 62-year-old is believed to head a short-list of candidates for the Olympic job.
