Fulham bashing by referees continues. Referee
Frankland oversaw our game with Sheffield United and couldn't see a punch
up, extreme time wasting and persistent dangerous play but could see 17
Fulham fouls and 20 Sheffield United fouls. United must find it hard to
believe that their kamikaze tackling tactics, punch ups and the rest finished
with them being penalised just three more times than Fulham.

The above
data represents the cumulative average number of fouls per yellow
cards for Fulham, the Division One average and the average for Fulham's
5 promotion rivals. The figures cover a 14 week period starting on
the 6th November 2000 and the source is the Nationwide Fairplay League |
|
On the plus side Ref Frankland dished out
just two yellows to Fulham players for the 17 fouls, our second highest
tally this season, and pulled our cumulative fouls per yellow average
up from 4.9 fouls per yellow to 5.1. Unfortunately this still leaves Fulham
with the highest number of yellow cards per foul ratio in English football
and it is now hard to see how the bias against Fulham can be corrected
within 16 games without even more laughable refereeing performances than
Mr Frankland's.
As can be seen in the graphic the current situation is that since the
start of the season on average Fulham have received a yellow card every
5.1 fouls against a Division One average of 7.8 and an average for our
promotion rivals of 8.6. That means that our players have received 19
yellows more than the divisional average and 22 more than our promotion
rivals average. Sounds fair!!!
