Fulham Manager Jean Tigana, despite his team looking jaded, refused to use that as an excuse for their 1-0 loss.

Instead, he chose to look to the future and hinted that he wanted to dip into the transfer market when the transfer window re-opens in January.

"Some of my team looked very tired tonight, although we had fresh players, so I can't use that as an excuse.

"It's possible that we'll pay the penalty for so many games, so we need a bigger, stronger squad."

Tigana had no complaints about the dismissal of defender Zat Knight for a challenge that led to Paulo di Canio scoring West Ham's winner from the spot.

He said, "It was normal that Zat was sent off tonight. He wanted to get the ball but missed it.

"We made the same mistake as against Manchester United - one ball that went between two players."

When asked about the media coverage of the new stadium issue Tigana stated: "We have to play here and forget all the problems around the stadium.

"We don't have a different solution so have to play here and try to win.

"The rest of it is not my problem. I'm not happy tonight because we didn't win, not because of the rest."
