We'll see what Slav does. The sooner he gets a productive Striker or 2 and gets rid of the Kline deadwood that he didn't want will be the making or breaking of him.

We need a striker in it has cost us too many points this season if we had a good striker we would be in the top six in terms of who is available I would buy forrestiri from Sheffield Wednesday will not play for Sheffield Wednesday again and scores a goal every other game slav knows him from watford.

It's sod's law' Birmingham missed a penalty! Our season should have been better last season but for missed penalties. It was a soft one at that, and sometimes a little football man in a dream, puts things right? Seriously, we deserved that one, and all Fulham fans should take that! We are a well documented depleted squad, and most fans think that a half our squad are a waste of time. There is 1 shining light for me, and that is Ojo! I don't know what Liverpool make of him? But i would sign him. If anyone who subscribes to Fulham TV? listens to Ojo, he talks passionately about Fulham. Considering that he has been out of action a long time, it is a welcome boost and a relief, that Ojo can come back into the squad running. A lot of players need more time to work themselves in, but Ojo thankfully has managed that. Oliver Norwood will also prove to be a good signing. I don't know if Fulham fans realise that Norwood has racked up a lot more minutes in game time than all our international call ups. Norwood will be a lot better when he is fresh for Fulham. We are a strange lot down at SW6, we sign players on contracts that are not quite good enough, and yet we have 2 loan players in Ojo and Norwood who we should have signed. We have a mish-mash of a squad, and yet we still could pull a rabbit out of the hat. All it takes is 1 or 2 signings in january, and the right centre forward might make a difference. This all over the place and quirky Fulham squad, could surprise a reluctant fan base yet. James Bond likes a Martini shaken but not stirred! I sense a flicker of something trying to wake up, and i sense a stir in this bunch of misfiring misfits of a squad. Don't give up on Fulham just yet!!!!!!

We won again and kept a clean sheet . But we should have been 3 or 4 up , not hanging on again at the end . Birmingham were pathetic , and their own fans ironic cheering summed them up . " how sh-t must you be , it's only 1-0 " sort of summed up the game , We just don't do fast and direct , it's Triangle passing over 10 yards without any thrust . Delighted to see Betts back in team , but in all honesty his distribution is no better than Button . We seem to be coached to play it up the wing but it's usually to a player right on the line and tightly marked , so no room for error . We just don't have the players for that type of system . Delighted with a win , but expect so much more . Hopefully January will seem so new blood coming in , and early in the month not players who are signed on the 31st and carrying an injury as seems to be our habit .

Difference is wolves have had a number of very good performances and wins this season. Have you been to Fulhams home matches this year. Every week its a struggle and we've got to expect a nervy finish which we are always given. Do Slavs post match comments ever fill you with expectation for the weeks to come.

Completely agree Davidk but I still think we will turn it around at some stage.Obviously it could be too late by then for this season.I'm thinking maybe it would be better to see this season out and hope that SJ can muster a few signings of his own choosing in the summer. He must have been very frustrated this season trying to get mediocre players to play his style of football with one hand tied behind his back.

Yes 'Really' I have been to every home game this season and whilst our performances haven't been great as I posted earlier we achieved the same result against a side who only 6 days earlier lost 1 - 0 to the league leaders, our season has been stop start which personally I put down to a lot of bad buys in the summer plus numerous injuries to key players since week one.

This league is tough and 3 points gained any week is a plus also we have just won 10 points from our last 5 games which is heading in the right direct.

Slav's post match comments are not a lot different to last seasons at this stage so I for one do not have a problem with them

I suppose you would like to see him sacked because he doesn't fill you with joy!?
posted by JBH (Guest) - Sunday 10th December 2017, 1:16 PM

What does not fill me with joy is his tactics.Sess playing as a defender,Johansen as a centre forward.Daft substitutions and obsession with playing out from the back regardless. Luckily Betts decided himself to play a long ball towards Ojo when necessary. Then there all this tip tap across the box going nowhere.JOK is very slow to learn from his mistakes.

Interesting statement from Tom Cairney here, and i had those thoughts also. Cairney goes on to say that a top 6 finish was an amazing achievement, and that the loss was a big disappointment which sent our boys into meltdown. This can happen and they are only human after all. It happened to reading etc etc. I know we should be worrying about our own backyard, but sometimes we need to look at the other factors that cause a team to go into meltdown. Our signings weren't good, and the injury crisis has got to be a factor. Kalas talked about the endless mileage travelling to internationals and coming back. It does affect one's performance. Slavisa is still kind'a experimenting with formations, and maybe switching young Sess from left back to further up the pitch, is a bad idea. Fans were crying out for Bettonelli, and now he is in, maybe we can go on a run! Bettonelli needs a lot more game time to shake the rust, and he will get better. Sometimes a change brings one some luck, and Bettonelli looks lucky for Fulham. It might be tough finding a suitable CF after xmas, and i was kinda hoping that Derby would slack off, and drop points? Sadly they are on a winning run, and my dreams of poaching Vydra are slipping away. I figured that Slavisa would have his phone number from his Watford days, and we could poch him, no chance there! Anyway this win is a little consolation, and a few more will see Fulham fans happy into the new year. Let's hope our boys can keep it rolling, they really care and they are as disappointed with their performance as we are. Let's support them even more! COME ON FULHAM!!!!!!!

Strong as always, Owen. Love waking up on the west coast and getting me some Owen positivity. I don't think any of our lads made the World Cup? so they should all be rooted at Motspur for the remainder of the season. Any little bit helps. Betts in sure will.

To be fair to Fonte, he is a bit short of fitness and passing a bit short. That simply boils down to being in and out of the side. We can't expect brilliance from players coming in and out of the team. It must be a mini-nightmare not knowing if you are in or out of a team. Some players can make more of an impact coming back, and one player i would sign no questions asked is OJO!!! Fonte needs a confidence builder, then you will see the best of him. Not sure if his best is good enough though, and that goes for a few more of Klines computer signings. They know given a chance, they will need to play their backsides off to get a contract next season!!!

Betts back is good news. Californian nailed it, the poor season is on Kline, not Slav. We lost Malone and Aluko, two key cogs. We’ve also had injuries, Cairney, Piazon, Ojo, Ayite. I predict we’ll be 7th by end of January.
posted by Drago (Guest) - Saturday 09th December 2017, 6:49 PM

Really? Really? With the exception of De la Torre and Button, the substitutes were summer signings and are all completely useless. Slav can only work with what he's been given. With the injuries and players sold, he has nothing to go to late in a game week in and week out. Possibly the worst part is Kline signed these guys to multi year contracts so we're stuck with them. Slav's managing hasn't slipped, our roster has. The player quality is way below last year.
posted by Californian (Guest) - Saturday 09th December 2017, 7:13 PM

The only new player in the starting line up was the best player on the pitch. Other than that we had 10 players who haven't improved as a team at all. You can't blame anyone else for that however much you try. One of the worst teams in the league should have snatched a point today and if you think thats okay you set yourself very low standards. I don't expect to see any improvement until we get rid of Slav.
posted by Really (Guest) - Saturday 09th December 2017, 7:28 PM

Really if you think we can be successful with only 10-12 players over 8 months and 46 league games plus cups you're kidding yourself. Besides the ten from last year and Ojo, Norwood we have absolutely nothing useful. An absolute fact. Blaming a manager who had ZERO influence on signings is crazy. Would like to know who you think can manage this roster of only defenders and midfielders. The season has been a huge disappointment but the blame goes squarely at Kline and those that enabled him. After what we learned of the circus while he was there, how could anyone think otherwise.
posted by Californian (Guest) - Saturday 09th December 2017, 7:58 PM

Anyone who goes every home match and sees the same clueless football with exceptional limited tactics and ideas. Poor substitutions and no new ideas. This together with players on the pitch who seem to have no idea how they are supposed to be playing. That's who.
posted by Really (Guest) - Saturday 09th December 2017, 8:33 PM

Being 10 hours away with a good tailwind only allows me 2-3 games a year so you got me beat there. As for substitutions, looking at today's list, you tell me who could come on and make in impact in this division. As for players not knowing what they're supposed to do, they won 1-0. Clean sheet at home. Should Slav suit up so we can finally have someone who can finish in front of goal or is that the boards responsibility to get someone who can?
posted by Californian (Guest) - Saturday 09th December 2017, 11:08 PM

We won 1-0 at home against a poor Birmingham side because they missed a penalty otherwise we would be two points worse off. The performance was mediocre at best and poor in places. He says he changed the formation in his post match but I saw nothing different but the same struggle once we scored. The system isn't working but look at the stats. The same subs come on week in week out at nearly the same times. Why put graham and mollo on the bench if you are never going to use them. Yes we have players to come back in but will they make the difference. I personally don't see the football being produced succeeding.

Excuse me, but who runs away with games consistently in the Championship when leading 1-0, no matter how bad the other team is? Wolves were up 1-0 at B'ham after 8 mins last week and that was the final score. Very few teams across Europe consistently close out games "easily", and those that do tend to have very good strikers. At Fulham we have none. Fonte is useless - but that was pretty much clear given his track record, and Kamara, whose first touch is dreadful, at this level, and given his experience m, is useless, too. As for the rest of the team, who do we have really that is so good that we ought to believe we should be an automatic promotion candidate? "17" loanees - mostly quality young players, yes, but with little experience at this level, a bunch of nobodies we signed from abroad, a bunch of free agents, and 4-5 guys who are very good Championship level guys (Carney, McDonald, Ream, Johansen, ...). Fredericks is special sometimes I must admit; Ryan is great but still a kid and he looks more and more like a winger or a wing-back in a 3-5-2 than like a fullback. In any case, we do neither have a particularly deep squad, nor a very experienced one, nor one with even 1 decent striker. Oh and we lost probably 2 of our top6 players from last season in Malone and Aluko (huge difference maker for us last year) to replace them with no one and one quality, yet very young loanee respectively. I don't know why most people here seem to think we have a top2 or top4 squad in the Championship, the track record of our players does not back that. Cut the manager some slack (yes, some creativity would not be too bad at times but he has the bodies that he has, and remember, we were the best team in the league last year during certain spells), wait for some of our injured guys to come back, and hope for some striker signing! Come on Fulham!

Bettonelli won't be at his sharpest yet, and we will need to give him time to work his way back in, especially kicking long. Great start though, no goals conceded. Sometimes when you change something, you change your luck, and that is the way the cookie crumbles. Bettonelli is a luckier goalkeeper!!!!

The sun is a good read today about the championship, and here is a little bit about 1 club in particular who should be doing better than Fulham..(Big spending Middlesbrough are known as the Galacticos of the division but manager Garry Monk apologised to fans for a poor 2-1 loss to Bristol city. But a 4th loss in 5 against Ipswich tomorrow could mean saying sorry to chairman Steve Gibson) Guy's we can be thankful that we haven't gone over the top with our spending at SW6, and that is a chairman's opinion. I hope chairman Khan is very generous come the January window and put right the mistakes from his stats man kline, or we really could be in trouble like Gary Monk. Steve Gibson doesn't have a whole world of patience, and he will wield the axe on Monks career. I am not trying to make excuses for our camp, but the championship race is very tough indeed and i think we all need to calm down, take a breath and give our boys the support they need, and we will make a turnaround. We have lost to the both sides of Bristols and to other teams now, and i think Wolves apart, Fulham can see silly mistakes for why we lose. I am sticking to 1 theory on our back 4, and that is we need to sharpen up, the international breaks havn't helped us. Ryan Sess we know shouldn't play left back. Our striker situation is well documented so no need to harp on about that. Middlesboro and others will be feeling the same kind of pressure. It would be interesting to ask every footballing fan who thinks their club is underperforming, who would they swap places with??? Fulhams plight isn't an impossible or hopeless one, and we still have a lot of talent here. I get a good feeling that if we click, the wheels will turn again. Slavisa Jokanovic can play his part in all this by fielding a Fulham side that can coordinate and crucially go on a winning run. It can happen if we all believe.....
Replies
We are constantly being told what a hard division this Championship Division is, but just because its repeated so many times, it doesn’t make it true. I cannot see any teams that are that good, and, with better buying and management, the proverbial cream will always rise to the top. Last season, we made the playoffs, despite having an awful first half...this year we have bought badly, and, I’m afraid, been managed poorly. Our preseason preparations were woeful, and we have failed to recover since. SJ is making weird choices e.g. retaining Button, and we are making our lives more difficult than necessary.

Yes Owen I read that article with interest, and that Sun pull out on a Friday is quite interesting. However, it would be nice if they mentioned Fulham from time to time, as we are certainly not flavour of the month, either with the Sun, or the Daily Mail's pull out on a Monday. Blackburn Rovers get more column time than we do. It's both frustrating and annoying.

I really feel that our players are not earning their inflated salaries. In most games several players rarely break into a sweat. They lack pride in their Club and are appear to be unconcerned about the fans who contribute to the salaries and turn out week In and week out regardlessly. Fulham players you should be ashamed and it is time you rolled up your sleeves and be prepared to fight for your club and fans.

Getting away from football for a moment, and turning to cricket. I am a very keen cricket follower, and I would even watch the tests in Australia, despite England's poor displays, but I am unable to do so, as I do not have BT, and I do not intend to get it either, so my interest in this test series is almost nil. Is it just me, or do other cricket followers on this site feel the same. I can't believe that not one of the TV channels are even showing any highlights in the evening, although of course highlights are few and far between, as far as England are concerned.

They all said that Johnny Haynes in his primt was destined for Tottenham Hotspur. Would that be a step up for Mr Sessegon? Most of their best players are being sold Kyle Walker to City and Danny Rose is oft to Manchester United or so they say.

These rumors never seem to pan out. I see talk about Lewis Grabbon from Sunderland. Excellent but it wont happen as Sunderland would be finished if they lost him and as for Dwight Gayle , no chance. It also the worst time to buy , desperate teams paying over the odds for players. We need to look at a couple of loanees from the prem that cant get in there teams.

Grabban is on loan to Sunderland from Bournemouth. Sunderland are alleged to not have the money to buy him. If we are interested then the issue is will Bournemouth sell.

Listening to Jim and Jamie from Beyond the Mic, i agree with jim, we can and should be doing better than we have been doing! If Ojo had buried that chance before halftime who knows? A proper centre-forward was needed in that situation. Mistakes in team tactics by Slavisa, and the sending off of Odoi cost Fulham that game. We will be short of a proper defender if Ream isn't fit for the weekend, and that could be troublesome. We all know our shortfalls, it is well documented, and there is nothing we can do before January. There should really be no need to keep harping on about it. Ask yourselves a honest question, are Fulham really that bad deep down? Can we do better? And should we be doing better? My answer is yes' to all 3, Tom Cairney might be talking fairy tales, but i genuinely think Tom and all the players know they should be doing better!!! All we have to do now, is to go out and prove it! A decent run of winning games from now until Christmas would see us shoot up the table. This is all possible because we beat Sheff utd, Forest, drew Middlesboro/tough, notts Forest we beat, Cardiff we should have won we drew. Anything is possible and we are capable, we just need to turn up from now on. I am not saying we won't concede goals, we have a leaky defence, we always concede goals, but we are more than capable of doing better than what we have been doing! Even with a below standard squad, and every Fulham fan knows this deep down!!!!!

I was listening to Talk Sport and the conversation could have been all about Fulham FC, The Director knowning better than their Manager/Trainer, Buying players the Manager did not like or want, too many Loan signings, it was only when I got to the end of the programme I understood they were talking about underachieving West Ham United. O.K. our club is not involved in the huge some say fraud of the British taxpayers that the Board of West Ham United have done - at the London statium, but one thinks I am glad we are still at the Cottage and NOT in the same situation of having our ground sold by Director who have cashed in on their major asset the old Boylen Ground the profit of which is going in the pockets of those self same Director. Good old Jimmy Hill, who had the Cottage Grade 2 Listed and no owner can take that apart. What a champion of our club he was!

Well said Rich.. sensible "big picture" perspective. There's a little bit too much “we won a game or two, play offs here we come”, and “oh no we lost a game or two, sack the manager, we’re going down” going on around here.

Rich, you can’t blame West Ham for taking advantage of the ludicrously generous taxpayer subsidy they were handed on a plate. They saw it as a chance to join the top table of London Premiership clubs, all of whom have, or will be, upping sticks and moving to new, bigger stadiums. I'm sure if we were based at the other end of the District Line, we'd have taken it as well. This deal all about saving face, and ensuring that there was some 'legacy' from the vanity project that was the Olympic Games in 2012. The Olympic Stadium was never going to be a viable commercial option because it was designed only for athletics events. And the only way to ensure that it didn't lie empty - hence betraying the 'legacy promise' - was to do a deal with a football team.

Both the much hated mad doctor Felix Mengele and the much loved but out of his depth Kit were allowed the benefit of a close season to assemble their own teams. Fair enough. So why shouldn’t Slav? He had no say over the loss of Malone or Aluko and made absolutely clear that the “two tick” basis on which new signings were to remade was one tick only..Cline’s tick! . Consequently he now finds himself managing high fan expectations, with a raft of players thrust on him, all of which have one thing in common..they are not good enough. The seriously hard time he’s had was laid bare on October 30. I cant believe that anyone posting here is unaware of the shenanigans of that day..but just in case here’s the link.http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-5050295/Moneyballs-Craig-Kline-stats-madness-Fulham.html I appreciate the criticisms of low morale and apparent “lack of effort” but it cant be easy when you’ve had to put up with the rubbish he has had to endure from further up the food chain. My feeling is that with a good budget and a lot more control over the next close season transfer window the current manager will deliver. Sorry about this season folks, ...but the long term forecast remains bright!

We're out of the running for a play-off place, so a decent FA Cup run will be some compensation. And with Saints looking forward to nothing more than a lower mid-table finish, hopefully they'll be thinking along same lines and will want to put out a decent first eleven. Last time they came to the Cottage in 2014, Lallana and Lambert terrorised our defence - they've gone, the current team doesn't score goals like that side, so that should even up the odds. Rather looking forward to this one.

FFC are heading downwards. Should miss the drop but by how much? We need a central defender and a left back. We need a striker and a goalkeeper. Just 4 positions to fill but that is more than a third of the side. I have stopped watching FFC after more than 70 years. I know when I am being taken for a mug. Stay home and watch Chelsea and Spurs. Two London clubs that play good football. Worth watching. Brentford, Burton Albion? You must be joking. Goodbye SJ and the Khans.

Could be a very good move Willie. It’s like Ernie Clay all over again, ruining our club with their in fighting and machinations. Being a proper SW6er have always supported Chelsea, alternate Saturdays, so have a fall back situation, which the numb nuts will criticise, but hey, at least I got a team who have a genuine desire to win games. As for Spurs, they’re London so don’t have a problem following their progress. Fulham were beating them a few seasons ago, when will that happen again?Sad, very sad and we’ve got posters still trying to support the un- supportable. Mind Cairney, who didn’t kick a ball at Griffin Park thinks they played well until Odoi got sent of........in your dreams. See you down the Bridge:)

You are RIGHT ....any side that has the lead but is unable ever to win the game from a leading position is not going anywhere. Because you do not surrender that which you have in professional football. We simply cannot defend a lead. From this point of view we have to send Mr Kalas back to Chelsea and start signing a Defence that is capable of Championship level defending and are 100% Fulham and not some other clubs players. Goal keeper, we have an England Under 21 goal keeper why is he not getting a look in?

Fulham captain Tom Cairney believes the first half at Brentford was one of Fulham's better performances away from home, but that the Dennis Odoi red card changed the game..... The rest of this story is up here on this site if anyone is interested. The intriguing thing about this Tom Cairney article, is that there doesn't seem to be any alarm bells in how he describes the game of football. He really thinks that the sending off changed everything, and there was nothing we could have done to turn it around. Brentford are a half decent side. I can only recall 1 match i think? where we turned it around after a sending off, and that was against Norwich away i think? Guy's we have crucified our team to the max and called out the manager, and now on reflection, maybe we need to give our team and manager some slack? It has been a up and down season afterall with injuries/internationals, we have more than a few talented players travelling, etc. Let's put this bad result behind us and move on to the next game. We know we need a few bodies in the jan transfer window, and there is nothing we can do about it until then. We all want our team to win every game, but that is impossible and we all say things that we don't mean to harm. Let's give the lads some slack and hope they can turn it around next game.....

It’s always been said that a jockey is the worst judge of horse flesh. Maybe the same goes for football captains. I watched a YouTube video yesterday in which Fulham fans leaving the Brentford game gave their assessments. Must have been at least a dozen consulted and their comments criticised the whole team really, as well as the manger and his tactics. They really spoke with one voice, which in itself is unusual, you normally get one or two with differing views, but not on this occasion. The reference is Fulham1879FanTV. I guess many will have seen it, but if you haven’t worth a look and amoments thought.

Footballs' about winning nowadays. Haven't you noticed? Gone are the days when we all said we were unlucky and we played well but still lost. Ask any Spurs fan how he's feeling this morning, they'd love to play badly for a couple of games and still win! The Championship is full of clubs like Fulham. Anyone could win it and its not Christmas yet. This is not true of the Premiership. Only a few clubs can win that. I think we should wait until Spring, and then see where we are. Fulham are famous for shifting out managers, but be careful what you wish for. Look who Everton ended up with. Talk about last resort!

Are we for real down here at SW6! We have lost a game to Brentford, and everyone is going into meltdown! We are getting sympathy from Brentford fans who think we play some of the best football in the championship! We have had a horrible season full of disappointments surrounding duff transfers. Not to mention injuries to some of our key players, etc, etc! There are a few Fulham fans who are aware of an even direr situation, and that involves losing Slavisa. This is not the time to call for his head, there is nobody out there available that we would want. I personally would want a Marco Silva, or Claude Puel, or a laudrup. None of these guys are available so why panic? Give Slavisa the benefit of the doubt, and i mean 1 more season to prove he can turn things around at Fulham. If we bleat load enough, we might panic Khan upstairs, and he might just unload us with 1 vacant Tony Pulis. Is that what we want down here at the cottage? Honestly, we would get bored of his type of football. The trouble is, we are spoilt down here, we play some decent football, and it just goes over our heads sometimes. I would love to talk about some of our wonderful movements when we do get it right. It is a joy to watch, just ask those Brentford lot who give us complements....

Passing the ball back and fore across the oppositions back line for 70% of the game isn't pretty football. For me it's boring and going nowhere. If it ended with the ball in the net now and again, great, but we ain't good enough to play this style. We spend 10 minutes trying to break the defence only for the other team break and get a shot off. Hence no clean sheets every week.

The Brentford coach said with a high press , our defence was prone to mistakes . He got that right . SJ Feels that if we encourage the opposition to press us high that leaves gaps for us to exploit . Great in theory , but we don't seem to have the players to run into empty space , maybe with exception Kebano . The rest like to play tight tippy tappy in a 10 yard triangle . I know you can't compare us to the top or even middle table prem sides , but they also encourage a high press but break at speed . 3 or 4 touches and they go end to end . I don't think there is anything wrong with the tactics , just that we are about 9 players short of doing it right .

Unfortunately SJ has done as much as he can for us and eventually he will leave or get sacked. We are nine points off the playoffs that was not the target for the club nor the board this season.your can blame the board for what has gone behind the scenes but this went on last season and we were still in the playoffs what has changed.it is time to give someone else a go with new ideas like Michael o Neill or aitor kiranka.you may laugh at redknapp but he would not be a bad choice until end of the season just to steady the ship we have got good players we were not sixth for nothing last season redknapp with his man management skills would get best out of the players.

Is it only me that thinks every time we play Sess at left back, we lose and when we play him at left mid we win?! Ok. Maybe not 100% of the time but it is obvious our results are much better with Sess higher up. I know we lost loads of goals at Sheff united but surely Sess wasn't the solution to stop the leak. With Ojo and Sess, we have 2 players who can cause more chaos upfront! It seems to me everytime we gain some momentum, we change our tactics and play Sess at the back? Why!? Please play anyone at the left back but Sessengnon!
Replies
I am in agreement with you john! Sess is better playing forward, and i don't know why Slavisa switches him sometimes. Maybe Scotty is up for coming back in January? and he might be surplus to requirements? Rafa Soares is obviously a mistake and Slavisa doesn't see a use for him at left back. Fulhams transfer policy is the only reason why Slavisa should be given 1 more go at putting things right!!!

Absolutely agree. Slav has made two tactical errors this season. Insisting on Button after Betts took us to the playoffs. And not recognizing that Sess is lightweight as a defender. The kid is skilled enough to be playing on the wing, and that's where he should be. Soares should be playing left back.

Totally. Sess is potentially a great winger, but only a mediocre left back. So many goals conceded can be pinned on his mistakes!

FFC dusfunction in player recruitment has been well documented this year. The Kahns are taking the piss and making sure a dollar out the door for a player is replaced by a dollar coming in by selling one. We have to back SJ or you fools calling for his head will be rewarded with Redknapp or some other joke.

Great to watch a proper game of football with 2 teams playing decent football. So many championship teams just play hoof ball. Glad we won but grudging respect for Fulham for the way they stay true to their ethos... These are not my words, but i think all true Fulham fans need to read this and to really digest it. To be honest guys, i am also very disappointed and i am not going to try and defend Slavisa's tactics in this one. Not many football loving people think we are so bad in this league, and we still are greatly revered for our free flowing football. Our problem i the same as readings problem, and that is the low point after last seasons play-offs. Maybe i am clutching at straws here? and i do tend to look for excuses for why we lose when we lose. Whatever happens next, or where we finish up? I think Slavisa should get another season at Fulham. I do think Slavisa plays head games for one reason or another with his team selections and his tactics to an extent. There are some obvious reasons for this, and i also think that our Slavisa is a sulky so and so. Slav knows he can slip away from this project sooner or later, and it all depends on if he gets what he wants. I have seen the suicidal tactics that he does when he played Sess at left back against the likes of John Terry in the Villa game, suicidal!!! Slav likes to play games and he can afford to do so knowing that he holds some aces, because he didn't pick half that squad. We owe him 1 more season to work on his project! It sounds ever so clinical, but Slavisa is bluntly that way inclined. Where is Cisse? What happened to Soares? ETC??? Not my problem i imagine Slavisa is saying! 2 players make up the fine margins that we are missing, and Aluko, and Scotty made a big difference. We still had that old problem in defence, but hey' we were better off with Aluko and Scotty....

Watch what you wish for on two counts. As I have a season ticket at Brighton as well as Fulham, I witnessed the way that Liverpool took Brighton apart on Saturday, and for the Brighton fans it wasn't a pleasant afternoon. It didn't bother me of course as I am there to watch a Premier League game. Brighton and Newcastle ran away with the Championship last season, and Huddersfield won the play offs, but some of the Brighton fans I speak too, rather wished that they hadn't been promoted, as each fixture is now looked at as a coming defeat, apart from Huddersfield away next week, where they could scrape a draw. All three are going to be involved in a relegation battle this season, and if we had of been promoted, this would have happened to us. Birmingham at home this week will be a game that we will hope to win, but it could have been Burnley at home, and what chance would we have had, none I expect. On reflection I suppose that we should stick with Joka, as we could get an even worse Manager. At least Joka now knows the players that he has got, and providing he is left to get on with his own choice of players, we should give him another season, to prove his worth.

What a load of rubbish...so on that premiss let's just settle for crap. Does no-one remember we managed to become an established Premier league team, that's what Brighton can achieve and their fans should aspire to that. Every game in the Prem is a cup final and I sorely miss it. With a good manager and expert scouting you can survive and build on success season by season, bit by bit. Little Bournemouth are having fun and we should aspire to that. Staying with Joker will give us nothing, taking a risk with another manager is always going to be a risk but one worth taking. Unfortunately, none of us have any trust in the club management to get that appointment right so it becomes a bigger risk. I don't think anyone would believe if Warnock were in charge of Fulham we would be doing worse than Joker, and that says everything you need to know about the useless Head Coach we currently have. And, if anyone thinks things are going to dramatically improve with Joker then you are clearly deluded, or if you really think so please use this message board to state your case. There are some who state Joker should stay but don't say why he has earned that right, stating the next Head Coach might be worse is a hypothetical nonsense and accepting defeat before even trying. Some will also say he hasn't signed the players but this is also rubbish because he is the Head Coach and knew the score when he signed his contract, but also he virtually has the same team as last season. The crux is, we are going absolutely nowhere with Joker and never will. Pope and others state your case why Joker should stay based on the experience we have witnessed this season, Joker has has plenty of time but he offers absolutely nothing and seems to have learnt nothing during his tenure at our club.

Slavisa deserves 1 more season to prove himself, and my reason for saying that is team selection. A lot of this team isn't Slavs choosing, and i remember he got us in a play-off position last season. There isn't anyone available out there except Tony Pulis, and i don't fancy his style one bit! Any credible Fulham supporter worth his salt would think the same. What is the rush for a new manager anyway? We had a lot of injuries that didn't help our situation, so let's wait a while. We have January yet,and Slavisa should get a few picks of his own this time. For petes sake'don't call him joker, I wouldn't appreciate that title.Sometimes people deserve some respect, and down at SW6, we are losing it a little bit.

I have been banging on in this forum for weeks saying that Joka has lost the plot and must be replaced. I cannot however agree with those of you who blame the lack of quality players in our squad. They are basically the same ones that were being 'approached' by several managers last year while we were on our end of season run-in, and everyone was playing excellent. Other managers have now sussed out our tactics and can easily by-pass our defence and nullify our tip-tap football going forward. Here is where a good manager would have made changes to our style of play. Please stop blaming Button as he is not used to rolling the ball out everytime, just the usual pump it up field. Last season we had Martin, although not prolific in goal-scoring, was a target man to hold the ball up until he had support. We have not given Kamara or Kebano the same role. Fonte was a good player and will be again in a better set up. I could manage this team better. Button or Betts, Odoi, Kalas, Ream, Madl back four. Frederick, McDonald, Cairney, Johansen, Ssegnon midfield, Kamara up front. Full backs to stay as defenders (not constantly getting out of position up front) and Fredericks and Ryan frightening the life out of defenders attacking down the flanks. They ca also defend. I would love to see that team against Birmingham next week. If we won 6-0 would I be approached for the manager's job? Looking at the table, we are not out of it yet. We have scored 26 (3 less than Villa in 5th) and let in 27 (3 less than Sheff Utd in 4th). We are 9 points off 6th place. If we had won all our drawn games we would now be 3rd with 42 points. Doesn't sound like the end of the world does it? We must act NOW to save our season.... What do you think guys????

Agree with your post Brian and if you notice all Brentfrod goals came down left so did Odio two red cards and warning (no he was silly to get 2nd yellow) but the guy had no cover from left back not blaming Sessegnon he’s 17 and playing to tactics and has been said on this board loads of times not a full back so easy to play against Jokanovic will ruin Sessegnon

Not disagreeing, as such, but would just point out that second half of last season, when Betts was in goal, we looked a different team. Ream for one was transformed. I don’t think any of our mid-field or defence have any confidence in Button. It is a goalkeepers roll, as well as stopping shots, to give the team confidence and to initiate quick counterattack’s. It ain’t rocket science to throw the ball to the player who isn’t having his pocket felt. Button is totally unable to indentify that man and I’m sure Joka’s instructions do not imply he should just throw it to anyone in a white shirt. Yesterday he must have kick the ball out a dozen times, thus giving away possession, each time. So we are opting for a goalkeeper who can’t throw a ball sensibly or make a long clearance with any degree of accuracy. A long punt up the middle, Martin or no Martin, isn’t really too productive. I’ve stated it many many times, going back to early last season, that Button is a liability in my view, when he was changed our season was revitalised and I felt exonerated. I thought we’d get rid in the summer, we didn’t, to my amazement, and to add insult to injury the manager continues to play him despite the fact he gives the opposition a goal virtually EVERY game. Not much more I can add. Sorry Geezer we are going to have to agree to disagree on this one:)

neither Button or Betts are sweeper keepers or comfortable on the ball. Betts is slightly better in that role which is why he did well in a confident team at the time. I have been appalled that Button doesn't move to create angles and space for teammates to play out from. If you want to play out from the back your keeper has to be constantly on the move to create space, Button is static. Either he cannot do the job (so get rid) or he hasn't been coached properly, either way poor from the club.

Last post ! we're not at a funeral yet Bishop. Yes it is time for a change anything less than a 3-0 win against Birmingham I think Khan should call it a day on Jokanovic's reign. Thanks for taking us so far, but we are going backwards the wins we've had we have just scraped by hanging on like grim death. The killer instinct (I think is what's missing) has all but gone. If I were to take over the first thing I'll do is give the captaincy to Kevin McDonald the proof that Cairney is NOT a leader was all to clear yesterday. But we've been down this road before and will for many to come it's a bad patch and dose need a change. No more pussy footing around new man by Christmas so HE can bring in the players he needs. Once again I fear that Birmingham might be a swansong for our manager.

We started well and looked good until they equalised . From then on Brentford were on the front foot . We were poor throughout the team , and that has to include SJ. Yet again we were slow starting the second half , how often does that happen , seemingly week after week . Are the players just confused by SJ 's motivation talk . The sending off today was for the third reckless tackle , none of them were dirty fouls but it was a build up . But it was no excuse , we were already chasing the game . Fredericks also lucky not to be shown a ref after the mist came down after he had been disspossed . You would think the players would sense the desire of the fans , but they hardly seemed bothered .

What we must hope for, is that Cardiff City get promoted. Neal Warnock says that he loves being a Manager, but that he has no interest in the Premier League, as the Championship is his real love, as it is a challenge to get a team promoted. Logically then, he will leave Cardiff, and be available, for us, if we can step in quickly. It looks like Fulham under Joka has run it's course, and either he has lost the dressing room, or he has no idea on tactics or organisation. How on earth did he ever get Watford promoted, that is a real mystery ?

Looking at the league table this morning, it already looks like the top 6 are in breakaway form, as the gap between them and the rest of us is widening weekly, and we have now dropped down among the dead men of the table, and although at this stage I do not expect us to be involved in a relegation battle, but I don't know where we go from here, as there is now really nothing to play for, except to go through the motions of completing our fixture list for this season. We are talking about adding to the squad in January by bringing in a couple of decent strikers, and a strong centre half, but which player of any calibre will want to play for a club, with no chance of being in the top six, so what's the point anyway with nothing to play for now. Let's just write this season off, and start planning for a real challenge next season.

I would ask the managers detractors to give us there solution under the circumstances he has to manage. I do accept however that some of his substitutions are strange, but then he knows who is carrying minor injuries and who is not.

He picks the team, with most of the players he had last year, he sorts the tactics, he makes the subs, when its not working he is supposed the change things. When its not working he should have some plans. Instead nothing changes, no one understands the substitutions he makes, no one understands his pre or post match comments and if you attend you don't expect anything different.

Agree pope; Ken H you are writing complete rubbish, Joker has a contract at the club as a Head Coach, that does not give him any right on who the club recruits. A Head coach is given players and it is his job to mould them into a team. Joker should use the players in the best way. If he didn't like the contract terms he should not have signed. But also read Pope's comments. And Ken H, you are talking rubbish about the defenders, we have a number of central defenders, Djalo, Madl, Odoi, Ream, Kalas, and Mcdonald can play there. That was an utter disgrace. Just proves what a mess this club has become. Not only by poor signings but now after defending SJ I have to say enough is enough. Tactically poor. What does he say to them t half time that makes them start the second half so badly every game. This boring slow football is more at risk of conceding a goal then scoring by the amount of times we play poor passes out of the back. Button doesn't have a clue what to do and I know we have no target man and a lot has been made of it but our defence is shocking. How many clean sheets have we had? Once again we make a very poor team look average and far superior then us. The blame lies at the board for sure with the poor signings especially in this weak division but SJ is walking on thin ice!
