Funny how things work out. Between the ref and var decisions, they took so much time faffing about the penalty poor Bruno Fernandez got himself in a tizz and forgot his lines and concentration which was good for us. They say that they are cracking down on the rough stuff that Bassey displayed and if true, they will also crak down on those kind of incidences in the penalty area. We will see?

For example, Bassey was merely shoving off a player who was deliberately running full tilt at him. This type of play is premeditated and organised, and if mainstream programs like MOTD can analyse it for what it is, then the Premier League should be calling out their manager. (There may be an argument that VAR should spot it too, but they only have so much time during play for that. But it’s all clearly premeditated.)

Leno's biggest fault, is that he is just not tall enough, and that is a fact of nature, and there is nothing we can do about that. If that penalty had been on target, he would never have reached it, but then again neither would any other keeper in the league. Like all keepers he will have a bad game, but they are few and far between. West Ham have bigger problems in this area.

A lot of criticism seems to come down to asking the keepers to maintain possession and play short passes around the back line. Leno is good at this, though many other keepers less so.

That said, Shilton’s lack of height was always his Achilles heel, think World Cup 1990 semi final a taller keeper would have saved Brehme’s deflected free kick. Shilton good shot stopper and had a presence in his penalty box not just 6 yard box, same applied to Clemence; Leno doesn’t have that presence.

We grew into the game and overall we deserved the draw i wanted to finish saying. Chelsea next week will be a harder test and the games against Leeds Brentford and Villa should give us points galore. I really fancy us against Aston Villa who are now suffering from the Europa blues that teams below the top 4 suffer for attempting to compete with the big boys. Yes we need a few more bodies to compete in this league but as we stand we don't look a million miles apart from anybody and maybe a few transfers will beef us up. The saying goes 'better late than never' and maybe after these two games Marco and the board can see where we are most vulnerable and put it right accordingly...

The very young fold under pressure and that is what we must do to them next Saturday make them fold. We have almost never beaten Chelsea home and away that must change. We have shown yesterday that Man U are at best an average team and we must show on Saturday that Chelsea are a very ordinary team who will hardly win another game after we have thrashed them nearly out of existence.

It will be difficult to pinpoint a man of the match, as so many of our lads played well. We could start with Bernd Leno. I had a perfect view of that brilliant save early in the game, and had that gone in, it could have been a far different result. Tete, Iwobi, and Anderson had blinders, and ESR, apart from scoring looked like the player we though we had bought. Unfortunately I thought that Muniz wasn't very good today, and I don't think that losing him,will be a big worry. My thoughts are that we are going to have a reasonable, without being a prolific season, and we should really take our cup matches more seriously. It is however, very unlikely, we will be involved at the bottom, but this season we must beat the lower order teams, something that we failed to do last season.

Looking at our first three fixtures, I honestly couldn't see us getting a single point, but here we are with two already, and unbeaten as well, so maybe, just maybe, our season will not turn out too bad after all, and with hopefully some new blood coming in, we will be fine again.

This is one of our hidden problems in this area of the pitch and T.N.O i think you hit the nail on the head. It is worth mentioning Palhinha who racked up yellow cards but the the one thing he brought to the table was not so much creativity but goals and some vital ones. Here is me thinking that Palhinha would be a liability for Tottenham but now it looks like Palhinha will be a very important and key component for them. Pereira just doesn't do enough but Smith Rowe we are starting to know what he is about and how to play him. It is worth mentioning Berg and Lukic again and compare them to Pires & Ljungberg. In the midfield, we need a lot more creativity going forward and maybe if we identify and get that one special player in there it would solve a few more problems further up the pitch.

Josh King not quite ready to start in these big matches , good to see Robinson back because he made a difference just a shame Sess didn't stay on the pitch and move to the left wing , ESR looks much leaner and fitter and should now start matches . Marco must have been worried about a threat from Man U down the left by electing to play Castagne on the right wing as it turned out it never materialised so maybe Wilson should have been brought on earlier . We need a consistent striker, Mitro always got in a position on the pitch where he thought the ball would come and he was nearly always right, He also scored about 70% of the good chances he had. These are the attributes you need for a top striker and our top two strikers do not show those attributes.

Yes a shocking start for the Hammers especially against Sunderland, who would have predicted that one. Burnley get wacked by Spurs then revert back to type Championship level and then beat Sunderland 2-0, Parker will have a smug smile looking at table going into tomorrow. Brentford beating Villa was another shocker also but then again second season after Europe exploits shouldn't surprise. Watch out for the return of Buzz Bee if we lose tomorrow, that won't be a surprise! We need our 'A' game tomorrow for 90+minutes. Pereira will be going and it is up to the likes of Smith Rowe and Muniz who must score tomorrow to convince the moaners that we don't need another striker. Personally, i think this game will help us decide or sway a decision on whether we go in for a striker before the window closes. The rumour is that Mitrovic prefers a move back to London and it would not be a surprise if we didn't go in for him in the last hour, i would be satisfied with a Mitro come-back considering that our recruitment has been woeful this new season...

The ideal situation in my opinion is for a Mitro return and we keep our young improving prospect in Muniz and Jimenez and we are complete and ready for anyone but this is the real world and even if Mitro returns the reality is that Muniz will be sold if his contract to Fulham is not written in stone. I read this piece of news from givemesport and yes i know it might be rubbish but we live in hope that the great man returns...

Tarkowski should either have stayed still, or moved across more than he did. As it was, it was an experienced pro trying to get away with both leaving his arm down AND moving to block the ball as best he could, in this case with his arm. It was handball. Does anyone remember Edwin van der Sar keeping his hands down by his side but blocking an oncoming Man Utd forward, preventing a certain goal opportunity? We got away with it, though Alex Ferguson was livid on TV after. (Mind you, I don’t mind Fergie being livid as long as we stopped the goal.)

Personally, I think that VAR has spoiled the game and is proving to do the opposite of what was intended. Yes, the technology is fantastic but it is still open to human interpretation so the game is slowed down and extended but we still have the same mistakes and debates. C’est la vie!

It’s happening in all areas of life, so why not football too? It’s true that there will be ‘grey’ areas in what is inevitably a contact sport, but the overall quality of decision making is far less controversial than it used to be - or do people really want arguments and leaving a game with a feeling of ‘We woz robbed’?

Silva involved in who we sign, the club just don’t seem to to get things over the line, a proper director of football may help, but loads of mid table clubs have struggled this season it’s not easy when trying to upgrade same clubs after same players. Agents and players trying to get the most they can, . I feel even lo we have done our business later than I would have liked the last few seasons, we’ve got a good squad which our results mostly back. But yes Muniz should already be on a better deal

By every account Brighton were the better side, and perhaps this might kickstart our window and get some players in. That was a weekend when clubs like Spurs, Forest, Liverpool and Manchester City had ‘statement’ wins, setting up nicely for them what will be a long season. Even Man U made a good account of themselves after a torrid last few months. Fulham should be hearing a few alarm bells.

We dominated the game for the first 20 minutes and the last twenty minutes. A few extra signing might be useful but the player we have paid the most money for is hopeless so signings are not always the answer.

After the match, and then watching his interview later on the Fulham website, he seemed very enthusiastic towards Fulham, saying how happy he is. Yes it was possibly part of the euphoria after scoring a late equaliser, but somehow it seemed genuine to me. He is certainly hot the greatest CF, that we had, but I have a feeling that if we stick together as a player and club, he could become as big a legend as Mitro was.

We are not a million miles from them. Brighton played only slightly better and in my opinion, we can play a lot better than the ramshackle display today. Where was Sessegnon, was he on the bench? We didn't do enough to make breakthroughs, and it was a game for Sessegnon who can make things happen. Josh King played better than i first thought but there is nothing better than experience and Sess was needed today. We have got to stop treating Smith Rowe like a sub, he is our record money player for Pete's sake, like him or lump him he should play from the get-go. Not overjoyed with Marco's first eleven today but thanks to his better judgement second half we got a result from his subs. We didn't play well enough or deserve the win against an average Brighton...

Wouldn’t argue with you but in the past when Muniz has started a game, rarely of course, hasn’t he looked a bit off the pace, however when he comes on as a sub seems to have the edge on defenders? I guess if we are to keep him he’ll want to start games. Decisions decisions.
