Player description
Fulham followed up the signing of Jean Michaël Seri in July 2018 with the announcement that he'd be joined at Craven Cottage by his OGC Nice teammate Maxime Le Marchand.
A versatile defender who can operate in the middle or at left-back, Le Marchand was born in Brittany and, after a spell at local side Saint-Malo, he joined Rennes’ academy in 2000.
As a teenager he enjoyed success as part of a strong youth side at Rennes, winning the Under-18 Championship and the acclaimed Coupe Gambardella tournament in successive years.
Le Marchand made his professional debut when he was sent on loan to Le Havre for the 2009/10 season, and put in a series of impressive performances that convinced the club to make the move permanent the following summer.
He spent five further years at Le Havre, ending up as captain of the team, and when he departed to join Nice in 2015 he’d racked up 173 appearances.
In his first two seasons in Ligue 1 Le Marchand helped the club finished fourth and third respectively, while last term they missed out on European qualification by just one point. He arrives at Craven Cottage having played 81 times for Nice.
