An out-and-out winger Malik is a fantastic crosser of the ball and, after he signed a professional contract, Assistant Manager / Academy Director Steve Kean admitted that the young Ghanaian-born Academy scholar was “probably one of the best, if not the best, crosser of the ball we've got at Academy level.“

Kean added; "It's always good to have wide players who are able to deliver quality into the box. Now Bjarne Goldbaek's gone, we don't have too many options on the right-hand side. Malik certainly did well in the Reserves at the end of last season and, if he can keep that form up, he'll have a good chance. He had a bit of an injury scare last year with a pelvic problem which meant that he had to rest for almost nine months, so he's done really well to come back from that."

Keen to help the Club in any way he can Malik has spent the last two summers working with the Community Department and coaching children from local schools.
