A man sent back to France under the “one in, one out” scheme has returned to the UK on a small boat, the Guardian has learned.
The man, who wants to claim asylum in the UK, and has spoken to the Guardian since coming back, is being held in a UK immigration detention centre and claims to be a victim of modern slavery at the hands of smugglers in northern France.

He’s obviously not short of money to buy another boat crossing ticket. How does he get access to the money, even if he has it. But that’s shocking given we only returned a handful of people back under the new scheme.

As much chance of getting these people out as getting Prince Andrew out of the Royal Lodge.

You wait until Nigel gets into No 10, and there won't be a migrant left in this country, and look at the billions we will save. Come on REFORM, let's get this bunch of idiots out.

I think it is very biased (even racist) and one sided to for newspapers to report that X amount of benefits go to people not born in the UK. What about the Y amount of tax that people contribute who are not born in the UK. Why not share the two numbers so we can objectively assess if non-Uk born citizens contribute to the country or not. Does it matter anyway?! That's the problem with newspaper and parties like REFORM jumps on it. Without immigrants, this country would not survive the post 2nd word war, nor would have any growth in the last 50 years.

It’s very simple, if you are taking more out of the state than you put in, go home. If you are a criminal or sexual pervert, go home. We have enough of the feckless and deviant among the native population. As for the NHS, the BMA artificially reduce the number of home grown doctors by putting limits on the amount of doctors that can be trained in a year. We should have universities filled with medical students instead of media studies or flower arranging. Let the foreign doctors and anyone else go home if they don’t like the UK.

Paddy, you can be an irritant, very akin to sleeping under a mosquito net in the tropics with a couple of the blighters trapped inside. However, I agree 100% with your latest post which is excellent.

Unfortunately, our politicians do think or understand what the “ordinary man in the street” thinks and once elected are interested in lining their own pockets and wasting tax payers money on stupid projects such as Miliband’s pet net zero project by 2030. In addition, overall taxation is at its highest post war level which demonstrates politicians fail to understand that the higher the taxation generally leads to decreasing receipts as witnessed by the “black economy” which, though unknown, is at least 10% of GDP or in the region of £200 billion per annum. In addition, the flight of entrepreneurs and a considerable number of the highest tax payers reflects the stupidity of successive governments. Until taxation is slashed together with the scrapping of paying illegal immigrants to come to the UK our country will continue to decline. We are known as a soft touch throughout the world and it is ludicrous to provide free legal aid for illegals to contest deportation on some obscured human rights issue.

Not one statesman running any european country. Long gone the days of a leader with principles and decision making. Miss you Maggie. This is absolute self destruction. Political correctness continuously stops vital decisions being taken. Before Brexit ,Uk had thousands of European youngsters working and studying . Most of these loved the country and had to work to maintain themselves. They have now been replaced by races who not only have no affinity, but who within themselves openly admit the goal to come to the UK ( or to France, Spain for that matter) is to live off the system without putting anything back. Destruction, violence, theft ,etc is part of their culture and everyday life.

For me it's simple; asylum must be claimed in the first "safe" country in which the migrant arrives. Unless they got here direct from their home country by plane, they have travelled through several "safe" countries so return them to the first safe country in which they arrived. If someone from (for example) Turkey or Greece illegally entered the UK, then we would send them back on the next plane. so do the same for illegal migrants.....simples!

Agree MST. Unfortunately we only get the news that big brother wants us to get. How have the thousands lined up in northern France got there ?.A high percentage of north and central africans boat into the Canary Islands from which "All" are given asylem for humanitarian reasons and are flown into mainland Spain or simply crash jump over the spanish southern borders. No big issue and welcome to Europe boys. i deliberate say boys because most leave the girls behind. From there onwards they can get to France. As UK is much more generous in respect of free housing, a lot decide to relibe 1866 and take the hasting route. God help us all.

I find it amazing that the majority of posters like MST, TTIN, Paddy, JohnC and many others all post sensible posts on this subject. The principal points on this subject I believe are enshrined in EU law that asylum seekers have to be given sanctuary in the first country they step foot in. The people on this board are probably a good cross section of the community and all are in favour of rules regarding immigration should be adhered to by all EU countries. Why are we wasting billions of tax payers money on supporting up to 1,000 illegal immigrants a week, during good weather, and stupidly paying France approximately £467 mln for a three year period for them to assist in preventing crossings from the French coast. Not much evidence of successful prevention to date.

Could we not move the chavs who love air-gunning swans on ornamental lakes and rivers and place them at strategic points along the south coast, and have them usefully employed to aim at and puncture the approaching dinghies instead ?
