Make no mistake, the Germans will eventually get their act together. Why? Because they always solve problems and work out solutions if they get a chance to do so. We can see their flaws and we know England can expose their shaky defense. They also have a ton of experience with the likes Hummels and the likes of captain Neuer in their squad that are vital to the Germans. Rudiger from Chelsea is not the most likable of footballers and when we think we know his measure, he ticks i this German squad. I will not say a lot about the England squad, but i think Harry Kane should play this one. Yes' he is getting a load of flak his way because strikers need to score goals. Kane has been dropping deep and with no goals he is still vital and useful to England. Remember Alan Shearer and his 2 year goal drought? We obviously have no time to wait and Southgate will obviously need to work out a plan and a supply route to Harry Kane. What better supply route do we have better than raw pace, confidence, and no fear? Buyayo Saka is the answer to penetrating the shakey German defense, and boy' do we need somebody like Saka who is fearless right now. I get the feeling that some players are still coming with baggage and i think that Kane will only find his goal touch again if we can supply him like he does for Spurs. I still say that Deli Ali might have been a reassuring influence and a boost to Harry Kane. Jose Mourinho has done his best to destroy Ali and he is still up to his old tricks by criticizing Luke Shaw and Kalvin Philips. This is typical Morhinho. I still say that Southgate missed a trick by not resting the likes of Philips, but there you go, i am not a manager. It has been a long prem season and the young guys like Philips might have benefited from a rest in the Scotland game where he wasn't needed? Can you imagine a Philips like he played in our first game, and Saka playing like he does? Lastly' don't forget Jude Bellingham. You know what they say about birthday boys? It will be happy birthday to Bellingham on the day we play the Germans. Birthdays sometimes bring out the best in some players and i think a 10-15 minute cameo might just eek something extra, especially if we are in a 0-0 tight spot...

While not to enthusiastic about the speculation of Cooper becoming our new manager, those that have worked with him say he has a talent for developing young players into fully fledged 1st teamers, could this work for us, Steve Wigley spotting and moulding and Cooper completing the finished article.? ? ?. Lets face it we paid top dollar last season for some real crap.

Geezer as I've written before, I don't believe ANYTHING the press write. I read the Lancet and the BMJ for my enlightenment on Covid and I really try hard to get to the facts of subjects that interest me rather than speculation and part truths in the wider press - as you know from your own experience, Brexit was a prime example of that. When you read in the press how many players Fulham are going to sign in each transfer window, that gives you some idea of how much the Press value printing factual, well researched information. In addition ALL the papers are party political so they will always give biased opinion....

Agree' a really good option. I also think that West-Brom didn't do Bilic and club any favours by not allowing funds that might have put them in a better position to compete in the prem. West-Brom made all the effort to win promotion to then skimp on funds which is scandalous. Then to sack him without knowing the final outcome was even more bizarre. Big Sam or Bilic? Bilic every time. He will show more experience than Parker with subs, and i think he will have more ideas on penetration on goal. Scott Parker was not astute enough in that department...

Our isolation has reduced all infectious diseases. With all vaccine efforts worldwide gone into covid we do not have an effective flue vaccine so their is a danger of a flue pandemic as once all the restriction are off a huge wave of mass gathering will result. Are far as Covid is concern once everyone is vaccinated it becomes a much smaller problem.

I thought that the quality of refereeing so fat has been appalling. Time and time again the Czechs were guilty of nasty and vicious fouls regularly kicking players from behind and could have easily inflicted injury. The referee ignored the fouls without issuing yellows cards which encourage the Czechs to continue throughout the game. In addition, he ignored a clear cut penalty without consulting VAR. I am not sure he would be capable of refereeing a Sunday League game on the Purley Way pitches.
Replies
Sorry, I must disagree with you regarding tonight's referee, as I thought that he handled the game very well, and although I agree he did miss a couple of fouls, but what referee doesn't during any game, but he ignored all this nonsensical diving. Overall the standard of refereeing in the Euros has been of a high standard, including our own Michael Oliver and Anthony Taylor. It is a very difficult job in high pressure games, and the officials generally are doing an excellent job.

Totally disagree with our supporters that want Parker to stay. He inherited a costly squad, bought in what he thought would make the team gel and failed. I'm sure every Fulham supporter would like him to succeed after what he did for us as a player and manager. However, I think it's time to move on. Eddie Howe, there will soon be a vacancy which I and many Fulham supporters would hope you would consider and take up. COME ON YOU WHITES
Replies
You correctly state he inherited a costly squad but you fail to understand that the buying and selling of players is governed by Tony Khan who couldn't see the wood for the trees when we were crying out for forwards. We are desperate for a very strong personality who can get through to Tony rather than another quietly spoken guy like Parker who takes the money and tows the line. It's now really up to Daddy Khan to find that man and see his investment grow. I sincerely hope that Tony's wrestling venture takes off and fills all his time (personally I think it's absolute garbage but it has so many followers)

Interesting response & I understand what you are saying, however, Parker hasn't been a good manager. Falling short can't be blamed totally on the owner when our manager DID have a say on purchases. He did take us up & then took us down. Time to move on. Khan has invested heavily in the club like his predecessor and we should appreciate what he has done so far.

Scott Parker should stay and complete his contract also he should be given the freedom to bring in the players he needs to win promotion rather than be forced to work with players imposed on him . Management should give him a vote of confidence and end the uncertainty it’s bad for the Club .

I can't tell you how many times my washing machine gave up the ghost back in the days when me and my other half was making our way into the world in our first flat years ago. I decided to go big Bosch German and we have stuck to that format since. Scott Parker is on his merry way out and we need to get someone in quick and sometimes a quick fix ain't gonna cut the mustard! We all have ideas and opinions on who we should bring in to skipper the ship, but we just cannot afford mistakes this time around, failure is not an option! Yo-yo twice relegated now and counting. Fulham will quickly become the laughing stock of clubs if we cannot get our act together. Parachute money we have that in abundance and it is about time that we make good use of it. My idea of a good fit and manager is Carlos Carvalhal for good reasons and for his brief prem and Championship experience, but what do i know? That fool Tony Khan will most likely cocked it up as usual, so my suggestion is go German! My 3 suggestions are 'Roger Schmidt-Bosch! 'Ralf Rangnick-Bosch!,, and Jurgen Klinsmann-Bosch-Bosch!!!!! It isn't rocket science and it is a safe option to go German and it will cut out all the nonsense and all the mistakes and cock-ups we create down here at the Riverside. Knowing our luck, a little cat by the name of Felix will come meowing to the door of the Cottage. We don't want to be 'Foolham' anymore, we are 'FULHAM!!!!!

Who else is hoping the Scotch go out tonight? Come on Croatia! Also if England are going to progress wouldn’t it be better to finish second considering the possible opposition. Wouldn’t be at Wembley but they would have weaker opponents. Mind you after the last performance surely a team that bad couldn’t possibly win the competition

My biggest worry now, is that with the new season, and pre-season friendlies not far off, the Khans are still dithering around with a will he won't be our coach next season when it comes to discussing Scott Parker. If, as it seems Scott will be leaving we need a new manager quickly, and it scares the life out of me, that the club are considering Mr personality Steve Cooper. Honestly if you were a top player and you had a chance of joining a number of clubs, would you jumping through hoops to play under Steve Cooper. The answer is no, so please Mr Khan, try to get a coach in that players would love to play under, and I have a feeling that Eddie Howe could be that coach.

It is not so easy Parker it seems doesn’t want to work for Fulham any more and seems set on leaving they want the Swansea manager which I believe could be a good fit for Fulham as he has a good record of working and bringing young talent on through the ranks we are going to have to pay compensation to Swansea and do we really want to pay more compensation to Scott as well I would rather we spent that money on the squad

Big budget doesn't mean smart investment. How else can you justify us buying Knockaert for DOUBLE his market value only for him to go on loan the whole season? He was our most expensive buy last season. What about the amazing investment of Tosin? bought for less than, 2M but having an extremely low relegation clause (10M). What about the investment on Kongolo? Why buy him definitely (4.4M) when he clearly can't stay fit? That deadwood cost us the same amount has the loans of Lookman and Aina together... Wanna talk about Statistics and Analytics (Tony's supposed go-to)? Why invest money on someone who hasn't touched a ball for more than 5 full games per season for the last 3 years??? So many questions and such lack of logic behind each deal...

This decision is going be a difficult one and one we need to get right. We also cannot be in a situation of taking too long to find a manager like Palace and spurs because new manager will need the time to prepare the team for next season. Eddie Howe would be a good choice my only concerns are he was bournemouth through and through and why does fulham become more attractive than celtic. Javier Periera would not be a bad choice been part of two promotions with fulham and knows the players only downside not managed in championship. Steve Cooper could be a good choice done wonders with Swansea with no money to brink of promotion to premier league brings youth players through but Fulham is difficult kettle of fish and more pressure. Valeren ismael not a good fit for us plays long ball football. Carlos Carvalhal is a good shout as well but sticky point is paying compensation to braga. Frank lampard not sure about either. Whoever we pick give them a chance even Steve Cooper.

If we have to make a change, get Eddie Howe now. I doubt there are many Fulham supporters who would be delighted with Cooper. As mentioned in comments below Swansea fans would be delighted to get rid of him.

I did not take much interest in the Championship last season but I am under the impression that Swansea were dirty. Eddie Howe would be a good choice, but I think he must be holding out for a job with a big club in the Premier League. He’s paid his dues at Bournemouth. It's unlikely he would think of Fulham. I'm sorry the loan players, particularly the defenders, didn't keep us up this season and they presumably will return to their parent clubs. But don't we have a whole defence still sitting on the bench that was good enough for the Championship the year before last? I don't see any PL club coming in to pick up any class players that might not want to drop down next season. I'm not sure why there isn't a good squad there for an incoming manager to pick up.

Eddie Howe comes with baggage from his Bournemouth time and his appointment wouldn't guarantee us success. I wasn't surprised when he turned down Celtic because it is more than a career move. For one thing, family comes into these equations, etc. What makes Eddie Howe better than most bread and butter managers after Guardiola and such as? Bournemouth did have plenty of success and big moments in the prem, but they also had their moments when it was touch and go concerning relegation. Timing is like flipping a coin and i guess that we had bad timing when relegated with a few games to go. Bournemouth always managed to drag their way out until the inevitable. Howe was just too emotional around Bournemouth in my opinion and we should leave well alone. Howe is lingering too long outside of management and i don't think he knows what he wants after Bournemouth. I personally think that the best move for Howe now is he should hold on for the Southampton job when it comes up again. It sounds strange me sayig that, but ask Harry Redknapp and he will explain it better? Its all in the water they say....

I believe you should give people a chance Cooper did a good job with the the England youth and seems to give the youth a chance at Swansea and they did very well last year considering they had one of the lowest budgets we have a great youth system in place at Fulham and I believe it is the only way for a smaller club like us I believe he could be a great fit for us

Carvalhal is not going anywhere. Braga know how to do business. The manager before, Ruben Amorim, was an unlicensed manager with just 2 months of portuguese premier league experience... and they managed to get 10 million as a compensation fee. (Amorim is actually a young and very successful coach, bagging his license while coaching Sporting Clube Portugal, and managing their first league title in 19 years). So I doubt Braga would allow Carvalhal to go cheap. Also, why would Carvalhal leave? He finished 4th on his first season at the club, they are going to Euro League, Braga is known to have long relationships with it's managers, allowing them to do long term projects. Completely the opposite of Fulham. If you want a solid Portuguese choice go to Luis Castro, who is free. Did a good job on Vitoria Sport Clube (5th place) and Shaktar (first year - won the domestic league and reached Euro League semi finals, 2nd year - finished 2nd in the league).

It seems remarkable that so many believe we are now immune from COVID. This awful disease is not going away anytime soon if we don’t take difficult decisions now. That includes securing borders and continuing social distancing measures. It does not include opening up football stadiums to full capacity. Let’s be very clear vaccinations are helpful but there still remains serious doubt on their effectiveness against variants and the longevity of protection. The fact some one is double jabbed gives them immunity is ridiculously unwise and will be a recipe for disaster. Turning this to Fulham if the Riverside Stand is not reopened next season it will mean season ticket holders herded together in the remaining stands without social distancing, this is not reasonable. Add, to this the need to travel to and from the stadium on public transport and you begin to build an unhealthy picture. The club need to recognise this and offer season ticket holders a more thoughtful package of benefits should they not be able to attend matches for valid, legal and sensible reasons. It seems the package has been rushed through with little thought to what is actually happening within our society at this very moment. COVID is surging and the next two weeks are going to be awful. It will be followed by an equally grim winter. We need to hold steady now for another 8 months to let the rest of world catch up and to understand the disease better before letting go, for heaven’s sake pregnant women are understandably not getting vaccinations because the vaccinations have not been tested properly for them, so now is not the time let go. Unfortunately, we are going to get things wrong again and we will all be pondering why we were so stupid, it is not the benefit of hindsight that is needed but instead strong prevention measures remain intact.

You are wrong in many ways. The economy and people’s jobs require an end to this crazy situation. People need to mix to build up herd immunity which will make this virus no worse than flu. Politicians talk about following the science. Science is about opinions and many scientists have different ones. Being locked down does not solve problems it causes them with depression and a lot of off shoot problems. This disease is not going away in 8 months time it is here for life and we have to live with it. I can but can you?

Then on demolition was shunted into the Putney end and will nor renew until covid is brought more under control, not least of which till the kids ( who now seem to be the main agent for transition ) are double vaccd. The combination of the view from the Putney end, and the general proximity of the crowd means that I will miss at least a whole season for the first time since 1961/62. A sad prospect, but I simply wouldn’t feel comfortable .

If you had the intellect to understand, I had not stated we don’t need to open up the economy (which by the way is opened up and doing very nicely in most industries) I said for many reasons we need to secure borders and keep social distancing measures until we know more about the virus and for the world to catch up. Only 6 percent of Africa has been vaccinated for example.

VOR - I sent them an email this week and was called seperately by two people who were only there to assist anybody renewing. I remember when the Riverside was demolished that those of us who had a track record of annual renewals would be offered a similar place in the new stand, and sought confirmation that ‘breaking’ the cycle by having a years sabbatical wouldn’t count against. All I got was tickets in and around where I sat opposite the halfway line would be deemed ‘premium’ and would be adjacent to the new hospitality seats. In other words no crumb of comfort whatsoever. You can see what’s coming , all out for the prawn sandwich brigade, and the rest of us can go whistle.

Have you actually looked at the daily deaths and hospital admissions!? God I despair at the way this Country has turned into a pathetic scared entity. What next, take all the cars off the road? I mean, thousands are killed in RTCs. At some stage we will find out just how many people have died because they have been denied treatment for curable cancers, heart conditions etc. When I think of my late parents going through what they did in London during the war, without moaning or seeking praise; and just look at us now. Thankfully this disease kills the old, and even then the average death age due to Coronavirus is over 82; in fact older than the normal life span. Let’s get back to normal and take what comes.

Totally agree Jegs. The government ran, and keeps on running, a totally irresponsible scare campaign on this issue which would make a communist dictatorship proud. The trouble is that it has worked so well that a large minority has succumbed to abject timidity and are now scared of their own shadow. The hospitality, travel and aviation industries are on their knees, cancers, heart disease and many other conditions are going untreated, and overall mental health is declining, yet people still want to hide behind the sofa. Covid is way down the list of causes of death now. Vaccines are winning the battle. As a nation we need to grow a backbone and get on with life, and I for one will be taking my seat and cheering the team on next season. Rant over!

My son is a doctor at one of London's major hospitals, and he was telling me only last week, that there are hardly any beds taken up with Covid 19 patients, and the disease has dropped off rapidly. Most of, but not all, patients in hospitals, are from people in their own choices, have not taken up the vaccines, and it is their faults that they have caught the virus. What they don't tell you is how many are coming out of hospitals daily. The doom and gloom people are making the headlines, and the others with are most honest opinion on the virus, are being ignored. A couple of my neighbours are refusing to have the vaccine. They are in their late 70's, and despite my pleading that say, that they are not going to have some foreign chemicals put into their bodies, and we will all pay for it later. I have never heard of so much rubbish, but this is these are the type of people we have to try and persuade to do the right thing. Thank goodness the younger element are now getting the message, and life we hope will return to near normal on July 19th.

Oh I suppose you would prefer it kills the young then like the Spanish Flu in 1918. Well I’m 71 and I’m glad I am more at risk than my children and grandchildren so I’m not apologising for that. I have carried on seeing my kids and grandkids all through this pandemic and hugging them; and I made it clear from the start that if I caught it through them that was down to me not them. What is the point of being old, having had a good life and then just locking oneself away just to survive. And if I had caught it badly I would have been quite happy to be given a shot of morphine to see me on my way rather than take up a ventilator. It seems so many old people are just frightened of their own mortality; well, I’m sorry nobody particularly wants to but we are going to die at sometime so you might as well get used to the idea

Timing is everything, knowledge is everything, securing borders is everything, protecting resources is everything. Vaccines do not make us immune. If we lose sight of this and social distancing measures at this time we lose everything and new variants will again create havoc and the collateral damage to the NHS will burden us all young and old. And yes have a thought for those in our society who for valid reasons are not vaccinated like pregnant woman. Don’t be so selfish some of you

The thing is making all these quotes about how many die from other problems dont wash, because they happen staggered , covid fills up beds and ward super fast, it stretches medical staff to there limits, road accidents for one do not fill beds over night they are spread over a year,so breaking down the figures of say 2000 in a year comparison to 150,000 in eighteen months dying of covid ,whole different set of problems ,just a thought .

One good thing that might happen is the flue jab and the covid jab might be combined and given to everyone which would save a lot of lives and a lot a lot of lost working hours.

I suspect Eddie Howe would be up for the job if offered. Handily living near Christchurch. Easy drive to the office each day up and down the A3/M3. Does not have the upheaval of moving family and living on the hoof! I think he would be the ideal fit.

If Cooper plays the right way and can develop the talented young players we have, maybe he would be the right fit. But there are questions as to whether he can get a team over the line. I go back to the point I made last week- I think the key is to find a manager who will stay for 5 years and will see a plan through. Cooper is not Fulham through and through and seems fickle.

Even the Swansea fans want Cooper gone so that tells you everything you need to know. He would be an awful replacement for Parker. The only viable option for replacing Parker would be Howe. So, once again for all the Parker haters, be very careful what you wish for.

Eddie Howe been there done it and is qualified for the job and gets my vote. The Swansea fans seem happy to let Cooper go so hardly a vote of confidence. How about this the owners listen to the supporters and take there wishes into account.

Please, Mr Khan, think seriously before you make our next Manager/Coach appointment, and please, please do not ask Steve Cooper fit that bill. First we just have a feeling that he would not be made too welcome by us supporters, and right or wrong, the majority opinion is that Eddie Howe on the other hand would be most welcome. Yes Steve Cooper guided a pretty poor Swansea outfit to the play offs last season. which was an achievement, but it was a pretty poor division, which is proved with Brentford being promoted. Eddie Howe, although he was in charge at Bournemouth when they were relegated seems to be more of a Fulham man, and he has been experienced in the Championship, and encourages his teams to play very good football, which we all enjoy at Craven Cottage, even if doesn't mean promotion next season. With the Khan's backing, and more financial clout, I am sure sure that EH, would be a very successful Manager in the long run here.

Can't see how Parker can stay on now. Or be allowed to stay. How have Bournmouth got away with this. They have virtually offered him the job when he is contracted to us. Thank heavens and a dream come true for me to see the back of him but there are rules. It's gone too far now for him to stay as our manager. 2 years gardening leave will be the end of his career. No personality so can't see him as a tv pundit.

Should have added I knew Peter Reids brother and worked with him. When he was sacked from Sunderland they never reached a settlement and he was on gardening leave for the remainder of his contract. If he took another job Sunderland could and would have stopped paying him. Kiss of death for Scotty. Can't see him being a top manager anyway. I thought when we beat Liverpool I was all wrong about him and I felt we would stay up. Cometh the man as they say and he failed miserably with a set of players that really seemed up for it. Nearly all of those player linked with Premier clubs now except good old Cav who Parker deemed not good enough in the championship. Depending on who the new manager is we may well have seen the last of Cav

Don’t really understand all this criticism of Parker,he has a 100% promotion record in the championship after a challenging season I’m sure he’s learned a lot if he had someone next to him with a bit more experience I reckon he could become a top manager.Realistically who is there around to replace him? Unless we get lucky with someone like Lampard gonna end up getting a foreign money grabbing mercenary. Think the bigger problem is getting our owner to delegate the right people to purchase any future signings,he’s son made a pigs ear once he got involved but very tricky if your father runs the show.

Parker could be sorted next week. Once which type of compensation can be agreed between all parties. I expect Parker will leave by mutual agreement allowing Bournemouth to pay us some compensation and us not to have to pay severance monies. Protracted turmoil can cause greater harm than biting the bullet and taking swift action. This was a game for Jordan Henderson but i guess he wasn't fit for this one? I also think that Grealish might have been on from the start and definitely needed more time to warm into the game. Ian Wright is asking the dumbest question on why Southgate took Foden off, is he for real? To put it bluntly, there are far bigger and better teams to come after Scotland and what does Southgate do? Southgate was determined to play his best 11 mostly apart from ReesJames and Luke Shaw. This isn't change enough and i think that Southgate should have utilized his squad a lot better than he did tonight. The likes of Kalvin Philips should have been rested and wrapped in cotton wool for the big hitters to come. If Southgate had done his homework, he should know that the likes of Kalvin Pillips is trained by hard task-master Bielsa who notoriously burns players out to the max. Foden might have appreciated the rest also and Sterling and the missing in action Harry Kane. Yes' the draw will do England nicely and that is 4 points, but somewhere on down the line there is burn-out come the big teams. Stones did okay, but there is a mistake in him come the crucial times and so Walker. This was also a game for Maguire and fresh would have been best tonight. Gareth Southgate seems to have put his best game-plan at Croatia and he assumed that a unchange England would have enough in possession to over-run the Scotts? This game was always going to be blood and thunder and Scotland needed the result much more than England. Southgate will convince us that this was a vital result and England did what they had to do. Scotland will take this draw as a victory and with satisfaction, thay didn't lose to St George and England. At the end of the day, Scotland must beat Croatia next time out. England will be drawn further into the competition with fatigue and tired legs and up against the bigger teams. No pressure then? Harry Kane is nearly on 2 plus 90 minutes and no goals and looking flat as a pan-cake. While the old man Ronaldo is enjoying this tournament and scoring goals. Kane is starting to look like Mitrovic and England don't know how to get the best out of him in their present shape. Sounds all so familiar doesn't it??
Replies
Sorry Owen but once again your long drawn out post disguises your real point. Southgate is very negative and starts with the mustn't lose approach. It's fine in the tournament format , 16 out of 24 qualify ( that's the problem)

We have four points probably already enough to qualify. It was always going to be a difficult match as the Scots have a heart the English lack. The Scots also know how to buy thousands of tickets intended for the English.

As Fulham fans we know exactly how that feels, Southgate's tactics have stifled Harry Kane. Don't blame Southgate's tactics for the way Kane plays. The top premiership teams play with a fast passing midfield and very quick strikers. Kane is not quick enough for this system. People who criticize the side-to-side and backwood passing must realize that the midfielders are waiting for a front player to make a run. With Kane on the half way line, that's not going to happen. You have to be tough to be a decent manager, and that means sometimes dropping your captain. If you want to know what 'front running' is all about, take a look at the kid playing up front for Sweden. Always available, quick, good in the air. We could do with him at Fulham.

In the first three months of 2021, British food and drink exports to the EU fell by £2bn — or by 47 per cent — compared with the same period in 2020, according to figures from The Food and Drink Federation (FDF).

Overall first quarter UK exports fell from £5.1bn in 2020 to £3.7bn in 2021.

While losses were seen across many sectors, dairy exporters were the hardest hit with milk and cream exports to the EU falling by more than 90 per cent, while cheese exports fell by two-thirds.

Chocolate and whisky were also notable trade losers, with exports to the EU falling by 37 per cent and 32 per cent respectively.

Dominic Goudie, the FDF’s head of international trade said: “The loss of £2bn of exports to the EU is a disaster for our industry, and is a very clear indication of the scale of losses that UK manufacturers face in the longer-term due to new trade barriers with the EU.”

Dave Clang. I think its been many a year when the Libs were in power. I also think that people are fed up with the two party system we have now.

MST got to say you were spot on about getting out of the EU. But as an HGV driver i have just got a nice little pay rise. Because of the shortage of HGV drivers. But it has come a little late as i will be giving it up soon.

I have a mate who lives in Amersham. He says that most people are resigned to HS2 but object to planning permission given to housebuilders building on large parts of green belt land surrounding the town. I also live in Buckinghamshire and am disgusted by the way they are building on any square inch of land that's been there for thousands of years and was also designated as 'green belt'. Also, I have noticed that the people moving in couldn't give a toss about the town or village they move in to. They only stay for a couple of years anyway.

Hundreds of police officers are referred to the official police watchdog every year for abusing their powers for sexual gain, according to exclusive figures obtained by PoliticsHome.

Data from the Independent Office for Police Conduct shows that the highest level of corruption referrals this year were concerning police officers engaging in inappropriate sexual contact with often vulnerable members of the public.

Referrals received by the IOPC for abuse of power for sexual gains this year was 118 out of 490 overall referrals – more than double the amount received for theft, fraud, and drug supply.

Police were reported to have requested sexual favours in exchange for pursuing or not pursuing a police function as well as gratuitous sexual contact, such as inappropriate or unnecessary searches.

This year a former detective constable was jailed for 10 months following an IOPC investigation that found he had taken inappropriate photographs of a vulnerable woman without her knowledge or consent and sent inappropriate sexual messages to others.

Another police constable was dismissed after a gross misconduct hearing which found he sought to take advantage of a female victim of domestic abuse who he had met while working in the Public Protection Unit. The IOPC found evidence that the constable attempted to meet female victims of domestic abuse during and after police investigations and made sexually inappropriate comments, in some cases with the aim of starting a sexual relationship.

When the police and do gooders allow people with criminal records and also allow people not suited to the job to join the police service what do we expect. Joining the police force used to be a career for 80% of people if you could get in, now it's just a job to keep you busy for a year or two. Too much bloody paperwork and not enough on the group police work. Police on the beat, police stations unmaned, the list goes on. Cost before a good job.

When I was a young lad growing up in Fulham in the 50s, it was common knowledge, that some police constables on the night beat used to pull in a local mentally retarded( excuse me if that wording is not correct) young lady, affectionately known as Lubby Lil or Loo, when they felt the need to sexually relieve themselves. The practice only stopped when she fell pregnant. However, it had gone on for a long time but I don’t think anyone was charged with an offence and she, I believe, had an abortion and disappeared, presumably to some institution somewhere. Nothing appeared in the Press. So I’m afraid poor behaviour has been around for a long time. At the time, whilst I was pretty young I lived in Lancaster Court overlooking the yard at Fulham Police Station and was therefore part of quite a close knit community that was always up to speed on what was happening. Sad but true.

Bish I be been racking my brain, not easy I tell you, but can’t really recall the name. Did know an Alan who had 2 sisters, one Janet the other Annie, but strive as I may, can I remember his surname? Like bu**ery I can. If you’d have asked me a little earlier, say 20 years ago, I might just have remembered some relevant detail. How you doing, obviously hanging on in there and not letting this crap get to you? I’m spending most of my time in Devon at present, where things have been pretty quiet, however now the holiday season is gaining momentum things are a lot busier and I suspect infection rates will soar. Think I will probably move back up to Hampshire, where having renewed my ST, I might actually get to a game or two. You stay safe and out of trouble.
