It's short term pain for long term benefit. Europe is finished and we're better off out of it. Come back in 5 years when Europe is flooded with covid ridden Africans and the detritus freedom of movement can no longer foist on us.

Given that the Uk has recently had the highest amount of COVID deaths per million people in the world, others might not want to come here! Brexit deal is very thin and detrimental to this country. Britain has lost standing in the world by the government looking to break international agreements and enable Trump. It's a tragic spasm of insular English nationalism that is a major historical mistake and is likely to lead to the eventual break up of the UK.

Leaving the EU was no mistake as you will find out in the next ten years. We should always deal with the president of the USA, Trump was on our side unlike the democrats who seem to dislike us. I think the USA is up for some real troubles now they have someone who cannot tell their friends from their enemies.

Move on, Brexit has happened, the country needs to work positively together to make it work. All this whingeing helps no-one not least the UK.

Paddy, you choose your timeline and we’ll see where the U.K. is (or what will be left of it) and where Europe is: 3; 6; 9 years ? Less/more - you choose.
You say Europe is finished but like so many, you don’t propose an alternative. Brexit represents the first trade agreement in history to put up trade barriers! It will also lead to the break-up of the U.K.! And for what? Some phoney populist rhetoric about ‘taking back control!’ From where, from what? We already had control and could veto decisions in Brussels or opt out as we did regularly as an EU member.
Let me ask you this. If you were my biggest business client and I told you that, from now on, while you could continue to trade with me, you will no longer have any say on the terms and conditions of such trade - what would you think? Well that is precisely the deal this Government has agreed with the EU. We can trade freely (but, of course with hugely increased bureaucracy - rules of origin; customs formalities; the Kent passport and significantly increased costs to British manufacturers and increased costs of goods and services to U.K. consumers etc.) but we will no longer have any say on rule setting in our largest market. Madness! And just to put things into perspective, the estimated annual costs of these brilliant post-Brexit trade arrangements for business are estimated at about €12 billion€ - the cost of the UK’s annual contribution to the EU budget! Brilliant!
England will simply become a tax free haven for the rich (the Tory agenda) and the rest will get poorer. The whole thing beggars belief - a huge and irredeemable act of national self-harm ! By the way, the Pfizer vaccine is manufactured in Belgium!

Sounds like some people are very bitter, take a leaf out of Nissan’s book as they now see the benefits of Brexit having previously been very anti.

Brexit done, can’t look back need to look forward too many other obstacles in our way.
Most countries in the world in financial ruin only a couple who are in a very good position to clean up.
So much debt in Europe need to stand on our own 2 feet.
A top English or British striker required (Toney of Brentford fits the bill) let’s
Survive and move on.

Solution is very simple. Nations control their own borders and cease free movement. Europe is unrecognisable from what it was even 20 years ago. We all know why.

Does that include Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland Paddy. That’s what voters in those countries want now so how long before the Union is broken up and there is a United Ireland at war with England? None so blind as those that refuse to see.

Why would a United Ireland be at war with England? The truth is sadly the UK is a spent force, even China doesn't care about it. There is little manufacturing and no resources. The economy is centred on tourism and banking and both of them are taking a hiding at present. What does it have to offer the world? It was Great once, but Empires come and go. Face it the place is in terminal decline Brexit or no Brexit.

Ireland, united or not would be part of the EU who in the next decade will invade the Middle East, Germany already has six bases surrounding that area, that is why they want a united EU army. When the EU invade the Middle East, Russia and China will be moved to intervene and will very likely turn to atomic strikes. For us in England, no matter what Scotland decide to do, we are better off to stay out of it, My worry is that while this is going on some might come our way, ‘just in case’. Even so, while the damage would be awful Europe will cease to be. I just hope our new stand will be left alone.
