Good morning all. As an avid Fulham supporter since 1945, and being an ex season ticket holder, and on many many occasions an away travelling fan as well, but because of health reasons I am no longer, regretfully able to go to CC to watch my team. However, I do follow our club, by watching the highlights, and even the 90 minute recordings of our matches on the Official Fulham website, plus all of the interviews covered. That was until this week, as when I tried to use this site, all I am getting is a padlock in the middle, which has stopped my viewing. Despite Emailing the club, and even getting some very unhelpful replies, they have still not told me how to rectify this problem, even though, I am willing to pay whatever it costs for this service. May I ask if anybody else, is having this same problem, and if so, what do I have to do, to get back in to watch everything as I have done in the past.

Just for the record, I am not necessarily being critical of Owen and anyone who has read my previous posts will know that I am his strongest supporter. An erudite gentleman who entertains us with his flowing prose which are informative, punchy, and interesting. Strong opinions, often wrong, but containing interesting theories which always manage to elicit responses from friend and foe. Carry on as you have established yourself as a much loved contributor who never, to my knowledge, said a bad word about anyone.

Nice to see Silva looking for Denis, one of our best headers and perhaps the best, designing a play for him… and what a play. This is a pick in basketball, legal in football only if Fulham player establishes position and doesn’t move and doesn’t raise his arms. A rule Chalobah followed perfectly Very impressed with Silva in this respect- it’s been a long time since we were a set piece threat.
Replies
Great movement by Dennis, I wish more players would do that against zonal defences which are very static.

Don't see too much credit being given to the owners for this brilliant start. I know it's early doors but it's certainly looking promising. It's the owners who hired Silva and it's the owners who funded the purchase of Wilsy. Haven't seen the other two relegated clubs do the same. I think we are pretty lucky to have these owners, other clubs would welcome them like a shot

Not quite sure why some clubs are whining about parachute payments, did not several of the clubs in championship come down from prem with payments?,some never got back like hull cardiff wigan preston etc,all were relegated with payment but you have to be lucky and astute when you drop out and start buying ready for another promotion push, some make it first time some dont so why whine.?At some stage a club has to make it without any payments good coach decent players and luck ,brentord never had payment in there history as did bournmouth, and they did it on 10,000 gate ,so no whining please you may get lucky yourselves and find yourself in same positio .
Replies
It is Covid that has made the difference the PL clubs including us get the loss written off then got the parachute payments on top of that so we have done very well financially with spending power well above most of the teams in the Championship.

Great result, mixed feeling about the performance but understandable due to new players coming into the team. One thins is for sure, the depth of the squad at Fulham is solid enough to be able to see us through to a good season. Glad to see Mitro getting a bit more involved with the team now and working harder. Tosin, was outstanding last night. So onward and upwards!... PS Guys get over Parker, he is no longer with the club.
Replies
Silva's tactics were very clever, let Birmingham over attack and put the ball over the top when they had. It worked beautifully as all we had to was beat their missing defence, while they had to beat our packed defence. It appeared that Birmingham played well but we outclassed them in every way. They did not have any players close to the ability of Tosin, Seri and Wilson.
posted by The Time Is Now - Thursday 16th September 2021, 3:28 PM

Agree. It’s a smart tactic, Mitro pulling focus of the central defenders, the follow him, then they’re nowhere, can’t help the RB/LB when Seri/Chalobah go over the top. Clear to see that Quina is no Carvalho however. Movement off ball not as dynamic or instinctive.

Why do some people just look for someone or somethings to slag off or fid fault with. Top of the league, beating most teams easy, good players to come back with depth in squad. Some people must have miserable lives.

Looking on the Birmingham fans site they accept they were beaten by a much better team but blame it on the unfair system that gives the relegated teams a huge financial advantage over the rest. None of the rest could afford the wages of our players and none could afford Harry Wilson. We have quality running throughout the team that it is impossible for them to replicate. We must take full advantage of our class advantage in this division and we should, as we have a manager who is good at his job and is PL class.

Absolutely no question that the benefit of the parachute money, combined with the damage done by the pandemic to Championship clubs, has made the gulf between relegated teams and the rest even larger; only self destruction or bad management should prevent all three relegated teams from an immediate return to the Premiership

And that's also the case with the six to eight top EPL sides who have more money and better players than us. The best we could hope for on our hoped for return is to copy Leicester, whose team is funded by a Thai billionaire.

An extremely welcoming win, especially after last weekends result. COYW

Goal difference could be key come season end. I think it will be closer than we think and there are maybe 3-4 teams chasing us. Bournemouth and Scott Parker will be up there also. Parker has no worries on how to get the ball up quickly these days and they can stay with us? There is no Mitrovic at Bournemouth so no worries on how to get the ball up to him etc. Scott Parker will also be observing and he is learning how to get the ball up quickly to make more impact in a game. I hope we are out of site come end of season and we don't have Bournemouth in the play-off. Parker will learn loads with the artillery he has inherited and they will be up there and thereabouts. The set-up at Bournemouth is excellent. No more slip-ups, let's just continue making progress. COME ON FULHAM!!!!

I have always been a PARKER fan, and I feel if he was still with us we would be performing much better, no points dropped against Blackpool & the Middleborough draw would have been a win, very sad when such a brilliant manager was driven out. Whichever Fred you are, I've never read such rubbish about Scott Parker. If he was here now, we certainly wouldn't have won at Huddersfield and Birmingham tonight, as we would have taken the lead, set back and probably come away with draws. That will happen to Bournemouth over the season, and I can't wait to play them, to show how much better we are as a side now.

I did not see a hard fought game I watched us defending comfortably against one of the top teams in the championships and when we attacked always looked as if we were going to score. We outclassed Birmingham and they must wonder what happened to them. Wilson and Tosin were immense.

Regarding Scott Parker. When we play them at The cottage do hope we give him a decent reception. Ok it didn’t work out with him as our Coach but as a player he always gave of his best and he was a very good player. Since joining Bournemouth they are doing well and it will be interesting to see who comes out on top ( this is by the John that thinks Owen is a very decent chappie)
posted by John (Guest) - Thursday 16th September 2021, 9:56 AM

Parker fans are delusional his defensive tactics are risky and relay on the opposition tiring, that is why we drew so many game we should have won last season. Last night Silva knew Birmingham were susceptible to balls over top and with the pace and cleverness of Wilson that created lots of chances. Silva is so much more tactically aware than Parker will ever be. Journalistic overexaggerating make all English managers look much better than they are.

Let's be honest we have played much better, as against Middlesbrough, but tonight was a really hard working performance, which is sometimes what we need in the Championship. I thought that Tosin was outstanding, and although he gives me kittens at times, Gazz in goal had a far better game than usual, and maybe he is not as bad as we thought. All of our team tonight put in a shift, and Seri and Mitro worked well together at times. I am hoping that Harry Wilson only came of as he was a bit knackered, and not injured again, as we will need him on Saturday. Overall though things are looking good.

I have always been a fan of Dennis Odoi. He is a versatile player and could also do a good job in midfield along with Seri. Tim Ream too is excelling himself again under the new manager.

I wonder if Norwich fans would prefer to be back in the Championship where they win more games than they lose? It’s not a lot of fun, as we well know, going into a game knowing the odds are very much in favour of you getting hammered. The Championship is a very competitive league where any team can beat any other. On paper Fulham have the best players and squad, but that don’t guarantee promotion

While we are critical of the big clubs spending excessive money (pumping money into football and largely into footballers pockets), clubs like Watford, Norwich and Burnley have owners taking excessive sum of money out of football into their own pockets. I wonder which is the worse of the two evils??

Bournemouth were saved by their keeper otherwise another 2 or 3 points gained and lost! West Brom can’t beat Derby. Huddersfield look like a different team since we thrashed them. Bournemouth hit top spot, although only their keeper saved them from at least a draw, and once again WBA fail to win at home against Derby, so it now gives us a big chance to go top again tomorrow, so let's hope that we just don't roll over and get beaten by Brum.

To record that it looks like Harvey Elliot has broken his ankle playing for Liverpool FC. I hope he gets better soon. Likewise Manchester United's Marcus Rashford. Rashford says now he has aims outside football. He has Ronaldo at the club, even at 38 he is a dedicated professional. Perhaps Mr Rashford ought to concentrate on his football as a forward he is good, but not outstanding - think what a certain Mr Jimmy Greaves had done by his age and also he still the top scorer in the top division in this country!

Anybody seen him? By Fulham FC The Club is delighted to announce that defender Stefan Parkes has signed a new two-year deal. Stefan was mightily impressive during his first season with the Under-18s, forming half of the defensive partnership which helped fire Fulham to a second successive league title. The versatile defender made 24 appearances under Steve Wigley and will be hoping to make a huge impact once again for the upcoming campaign. Stefan gave fulhamfc.com his reaction after putting pen to paper: "I can't put my emotions into words and I don't think it's fully sunken in yet. It's another milestone that I'm thankful to have achieved and it motivates me to work even harder." The 17-year-old is motivated having seen some of his ex-teammates make an impact for the senior side. "The coaches within the Academy ensure us that at this club, age is no barrier. If you're good enough you'll get what you deserve. Seeing the boys step up drives me each day to keep on improving and hopefully I'll play in the First Team myself." Academy Director Mike Cave added: "I'm delighted that Stefan is continuing his journey with us having signed his professional contract. "Stef has been a part of our Academy for several years, demonstrating his talents as an attacking full-back. Even more impressively, he has suffered, come back from, and excelled following challenging periods on the side-line with injury. "He represents the reward of hard work and endeavour and I'm excited to continue to watch his development as he pushes towards the next challenge and steps into the professional game."

Likewise, will watch his progress with interest. I must say that Steve Wigley and his team have developed some great talent, which in my opinion he has not received enough recognition.

This ain't gonna be a walk in the park up at Birmingham on Wedsnesday. I honestly expect Lee Boyer to unleash beasty boy Troy Deeney on us weds night and he will be a handful make no mistake! Why should we think that we only need to turn up to get a result after Blackpool? Marco Silva made his first big mistake in team selection for the Blackpool game in my opinion and now we are in a bit of a pickle for a while me-thinks, or i should say we need to wait until the dust settles down? To be brutally honest, can Mitrovic regain his sharpness back so quickly after a recent international and a barmy 90 minutes plus against Blackpool? I would have preferred a fresh and rested Mitrovic in battle against a Troy Deeney who will be chomping at the bit, can we cope with him wed night? There is a right saying when they say 'horses for courses'.Remember the great Red Rum? Rummie never competed around courses like Plumpton on a day out at the races too often. He was only really wound up for the big one at Aintree once a year. Mitrovic is not a 4 legged beast of a thoroughbred but i am comparing him to a nags form for good reasons. Can Mitrovic find his form quickly for Birmingham weds night because as far as i know it, he has been useless for a while after international duty. I hope i am wrong and we end up winning and i eat humble pie after Wednesday. With Mitrovic or without, we really need to compete and put the hard work in against a bouncing Birmingham. COME ON FULHAM!!!!!!!!!
Replies
I think we have seen the best of Mitro this season and after Wednesdays game where he will have a nightmare, all and sundry will be calling for his head. And to Silva don't do a parker and leave out Stansfield or Bowie when we have 2 goal scorers who must be given their chance.

So, we should be afraid of Troy Deeney tomorrow when we play Birmingham, if so why. He couldn't get a game with Watford in the Premier League as he is past his sell by date, and now because he is back at his favourite club, he is going to be one to worry about. We are a side supposedly trying hard to get back to the Premier League, where nearly every team will have far better players than Troy, so if we are worried about Troy, or even Birmingham as a whole, we should forget about returning to the top table, where we would meet Ronaldo, Kane, Salah and Lukaku and more, so let's just forget Troy Deeney and just concentrate on beating Birmingham, and not fail again as we did against a far inferior Blackpool team. Tomorrow is a real test to our season, and we must not not get beaten at St Andrews.

Kongos' i am saying that we shouldn't take Birmingham and Troy Deeney lightly. Deeney is a lad who can look after himself a bit and make no mistake, he can bully our defense. If we are talking fisticuffs and a punch up between Deeney and Mitrovic, i would put my money on Mitrovic. Now back to the football! I like Mitrovic and it is great to see him come back to form with goals for Fulham. I would have preferred Mitrovic rested along with Wilson but not to be. Mitrovic needing an extra 90 minutes with pie chips and gravy and why not chuck in one of Harry's jam-roly-poly? No! What planet are you guys on? The guy had half his brain beaten up and a black eye. Would Mitrovic had benefited from a break against Blackpool? The answer is 'YES'!!!!!!! Let's just hope Mitrovic can make a speedy recovery and find some energy to score a hattrick and to get one over Troy Deeney, (out of the refs view) 'Me Owen Negative? Give me war and piece! If we defend like we did against Blackpool those defenders are going to have to sit out next season again, should we be promoted. Leeds are not a bad side and could be hopeful of a place in one of the lesser European tournaments, yet Liverpool completely outplayed them. Man U equally easily disposed of Newcastle. Even Arsenal got their season started against relegation favourites Norwich. The gulf between the top of the Premier League and the rest, particularly those in the Championship, gets wider every year.

When I watch these Premier League matches and watch the likes of Manchester City, Manchester United, Liverpool, Chelsea and even Villa, I wonder if it is worth striving to gain promotion again, as even teams like Palace, Spurs and Arsenal are out of reach from us, as Watford, Norwich and Brentford are finding out with a quick return to the Championship already on the cards. Let's face it, if we can't even beat a very poor team like Blackpool, we have no right at all, to be back in the big time, and we will be better off staying where we are, where at keast we won't be relegated again.

Agree with the statements regarding the gulf between premiership and championship, thought there should be 4 teams less in the top sphere and remodel the 2nd division to north and south as in the old days.

We can easily compete and win against the bottom 8-10 in the premiership and maybe nick the odd result from the likes of Liverpool maybe? We were close under Parker-ball but no answer for draws (too many) and missed penalty kicks. Analyze and take a long-hearted look again and know that experience counts for everything. This time around, we have a good manager in Marco Silva who would have gotten the best from Anguissa, Cheek, and Seri back in the prem. Remember also that we had 13 wonderous years in the so-called impossible prem and we held our own and competed in a euro final. Lets all stop wallowing and get a grip and back on focus in this championship...

Getting back to a football topic, as yet there does not seem as yet to be any runaway leaders, and 4 points separate the first 9 teams, so unless over the next 2 months no one breaks away from the pack it could be any of the present 12 teams. I had a bet on QPR at seasons start with very good odds, and there constant fight backs have to be admired.

‘79 and ‘80 were definitely different as was the ten pints a day regime in Dublin. I was in the boardroom for the pre-launch of Guinness Lite. Iveagh and the boyos were in good form and we all raised our glasses and took the first mouthful. Joe Lewis took a second swig, held his glass up to the light and opined “I don’t think this horse should be exercised for at least three weeks”. So began the short and highly unprofitable life of one of the worst brewing ideas in recorded history.

I know that this is a football forum, just meant for us Fulham supporters, but surely we must say a heartedly congratulations to Emma Raducanu for her brilliant win in the American Open last night, especially as her opponent was exceptionally good as well, and what a future Emma will have, and thank goodness for a change she is actually English. It was so absorbing that I almost forgot what a miserable afternoon I had spent after our unbelievable defeat against Blackpool. When we gained promotion under Jokanavic we lost our first game at Barnsley, but recovered, so all is not lost, but we do play another B, on Wednesday in Birmingham. What is it about playing teams starting with B, and it was Birmingham who stopped us getting automatic promotion in the Jokanovic days.

Not all Brazilian footballers will make it big in England or any other foreign player. We have Muniz now and it is Marco Silva's opinion that he can step up and make the grade. We have to go with Silva's judgment and i guess Muniz didn't feature more on the pitch because of fitness? Even the likes of Tuchel can get it wrong for putting another Chelsea big signing into the battle too soon? Saul played a nightmare 45 minutes and supposedly being more experienced, he was constantly hustled and harrassed off the ball. These things happen to the best of them in the prem or Championship. Chelsea's history in the modern game is littered with so-called big named players who fail to live up to expectations, why should we be surprised or baffled? The difference with Chelsea and Fulham is that they can make mistakes with failures time and again but ours are limited. Silva is choosing to pitch Muniz in slowly and this can still prove a wise move so don't stop believing and expecting. On his full debut, give Muniz the razzle-dazzle and party welcome. The razzmatazz and party atmosphere is what all Brazilians dance to the beat too, even barefoot on a sandy beach. We just gotta hope Muniz can dance the rythum of the 'er' party? We could well do with some Razzle dazzle Brazilian style midweek because our big man Mitro might be needing some pipe and slippers time to recover from his international exploits. Can Mitrovic recover in time for a Wednesday night against a bouncing Birmingham? History say's not but maybe Marco Silva can get a tune out of him...

Having read all the hype about a revitalised goal getting MITRO, this I have to query, I feel that he will revert to his old lazy sluggish ways. Completely my own opinion, a point in which hoping I am so wrong in making. The manager is I am sure aware of how the players are performing, and we have a good replacement in young Jay Stansfield & of course a competent Rodek chomping at the bit.

Serbia have only one decent player and he get used to excess by his country. He really looked knackered on Saturday, it was the manager job to notice that. The two Americans had just come back to Fulham, they should not have played. Silva made a tactical mistake which is bound to happen at times. If we win the next 5 games this will soon be forgotten.

Should have started Mawson, Bryan, Reed, at a minimum. The international players got back too late, especially the Americans. The players who have been training together for 12 days were probably desperate to start and put in a shift, show the manager they belong. Especially with another match in a few days - internationals would be fit and adjusted for that one.
Replies
It would have been an ideal time to try Muniz as Mitro was going through the motions. He is Serbia's best player and does 90 min plus every game. The two Yanks only came back yesterday and then had to travel to Blackpool. I believe we have an excellent manager but he made selection mistakes perhaps thinking a weakened team would be good enough against Blackpool. You need energy as well as skill to win a football match, we lacked energy.

A lot of our best players missing and the Blackpool manager told his team to keep pressurising us and they did that very well. This is a big test for Silva he will need to revise his tactics to counter the Blackpool tactics which others will follow. Wilson and Carvalho will make a big difference when they return. The new young bloke from Watford looked out of his depth. We were always going to have a bad day do not panic.

So we lost a game that we fully expected to win by all and sundry, and Blackpool were 9/2 to win this game. I know that we were short of a couple of players, but our under 23 team should beat Blackpool. The trouble is with both us and WBA, we seem to have the attitude, as I have, that we are both bankers for promotion, but this is a very difficult league to just try to stroll through. Hopefully this will be a real wake up call, because being away to Birmingham in mid week is not an easy fixture to follow a defeat, with our confidence a bit shattered.

Nice to see doom and gloom merchants out again in Fulham Supporter. One loss and the seasons ruined.

If we were the real deal we wouldn’t lose games like today. Massive game for us mid week to see how we respond.

Do not worry stay happy. Even the very best teams have bad days. The international break and the manager of the month award was always going to mess us up.

I listened in to gentlemen Jim's commentary on and off during the afternoon, and he sounded very disappointed with our performance, and I suppose that only consolation was that unbelievably WBA couldn't beat Millwall, but other clubs are closing on us fast now, so maybe it isn't going to be as easy as we anticipated that it would be. However, this unexpected defeat, might prove to be a blessing in disguise, and we should find that out, away to Birmingham in our next game.

No need to panic but Stansfield needs a run, even if its from the bench... he scored another two against Southampton 23s last night.

"Len" you do have a pathological hatred for Brentford, envy possibly being the reason. Lets face current facts, not those memories you constantly regurgitates from half a century ago. SEASON 2021/2 Brentford mid table in the premiership Fulham (At present 2nd in the championship).least till next saturday when you also may be mid table. Wake up the Haynes, . Cohen, Mitten, Jezzard, Robson, Macedo, era has gone.

Although I have no great love for Brentford, it does appear that Len holds some sort of a vendetta against them

So Fulhamish. Why do bottom teams always upset the odds when they play us?

International break hasn’t helped us unfortunately, the momentum has stopped but we’ve seen this before, just need to get back on a roll it’s a marathon not a sprint

This is the first time I have seen Fulham supporters leaving bofore extra time when only one nil down. They were more disappointed than I was watching it. When Read shot over from close range in the final minutes many of them had gone.

I had a bad feeling about this game before and it didn't take a genius to work out that we should play fresh legs after internationals. Marco Silva will know now that the strongest team on paper doesn't always get you 3 points.

If a Martian had landed at Blackpool today, he would have thought Blackpool were league leaders, it’s a shameful performance from Fulham

Having watched the whole game live, Blackpool obviously wanted the win more than Fulham did. Ok we presented them the only goal of the game but Blackpool ran their legs off today, it was only the last 15 minutes that Fulham put any pace into attack, to say I’m very disappointed with the performance is an understatement 09

A dreadful goal to concede, first Sari passes to fresh air, Blackpool picked the loose ball up and run with it into our penalty area, Robinson whose having a nightmare allows the attacker to pass him and score, Fulham need to raise their game , at the moment they are being out thought and out played.
