I am privy to certain information re : FFC and the topic within the hierarchy of the club is Parkers future, there is 3 parties interested in having him on board for the 21/22 season, being Crystal Palace & Southampton, no idea of the third one but speculation is it could be Leeds or Arsenal. but that said there are other factors, in his being retained at FFC, on the board side he must keep FFC in the premiership, and his view what sort of transfer cash will he be given. Watch all reports as speculation until confirmed is little more than guess work. But at FFC the next 3 months will be very interesting.
Replies
I know it doesn’t mean much, but didn’t Scott sign a three year contract at the beginning of the season? Couldn’t see him being interested in Palace or Southampton, and maybe not Leeds, but Arsenal may be different.

Don't think you need much to work that out. the priority is staying in the premier league. If we can stay up, as long as owner prepared to invest, it doesn't really matter if we lose Parker or not. The teams that managed to stay up in their first season, then relegated the next are the teams not investing in their second season. Huddersfield and Sheffield United are two recent examples. We need to do a Villa (invest another 50-60m) if we stay up.

burnley 29 pts, fulham 27 pts, newcastle 27 pts, brighton 26 pts,w brom 18 pts, sheff unt 14 pts, thats how the table should read if VAR had done its job allowing our goal v spurs and giving arsenal a penalty against burnley. would be looking even better for us.

You're forgetting the penalty and red card against Newcastle... That would be 1 less for Newcastle and 2 more for us

That wasn’t a bad VAR job vs Spurs, that was a horrible FIFA law interpretation which was changed the Monday after and will go into effect in July, too late to help us. The Newcastle VAR screw up was one of the worst in the league this year unfortunately for us. We just gotta keep playing well and we should be ok.

We beat Everton 2-0 and Chelsea beat them by the same score, so when we play Chelsea we will at least draw 0-0. It is of course which team has improved the most by the time the match arrives that really counts.

So pleased that we didn't sign Josh King, as he looked a complete waste of space, and in the long run next season, it looks like Maja will be the better bargain providing we sign him.

Maja apart from his 2 goals against Everton hasn’t really shown much, more mobile than Mitro guess he gives us an option wouldn’t pay that much for him.

Chief' Maja hasn't been the most prolific of strikers but he has been on target with his very few opportunities. A well-taken goal against Spurs which was disallowed, not his fault, and i remember a point-blank header straight at the goalie which are fine margins i know. Maja looks like he will make the most of his opportunities which isn't much, but i rate him higher than Mitrovic who seems to find his route on goal a touch harder. For the money, Maja just edges out Mitro, fine margins between the two...
posted by OWEN (Guest) - Monday 08th March 2021, 9:19 PM

Why does everyone keep writing off Mitro as if he has finished as a player and should be moved on. In my opinion he still has a lot to offer, and he will add to our goal tally before the end of the season. When he came on at Anfield, he become involved by laying on a couple of neat passes, and had a really good strike on goal from way out. He could yet be our saviour with a couple of important goals.
posted by Malden Mick (Guest) - Monday 08th March 2021, 9:38 PM

I’m not writing of Mitro still think he’s capable of nicking the odd goal,he’s really badly suffering from confidence nothing a couple of goals could sort out. However we’ve completely changed the way we play which suits Maja,Carvellio and maybe de Corva Reid better.
posted by Chief (Guest) - Monday 08th March 2021, 9:56 PM

Whenever Mitro plays he looks as if he does not want to be there. He is obviously depressed and isolated and if that is the case he will never play well until his head is right.

You can prove everything and nothing with statistics. The certainties in football are uncertain. We could do very well in the remaining 10 games and still not stay up or we could do not very well and stay up.

Honestly' you would think the world of football is in crisis because we beat Liverpool. It was a close encounter the first time of playing them and we really should have had at least a point from them at the Cottage, where they came with a better lineup. In truth, parker-ball hasn't been as popular as a Bakewell tart bought and eaten in Bakewell while walking around a duck pond while hungry swans chase around you hoping for a crumb to follow a trail, as you do. Just watching through sky news today is amazing when you hear the stories and reports about Liverpool in crisis? The truth is that Klopp didn't do his homework concerning Fulham, and the clues were out for all on display for all and sundry. Parker-ball is a simple and effective plan really and the most it requires is 90 minutes plus of sheer concentration and doggedness. Any lapses of concentration and the whole thing can fall apart, especially when we give away the first goal. In truth there is a bit more techno-babble to Parker-ball which would take too long to explain to the likes of Kunye etc. Parker-ball can be breached and unlocked, well demonstrated by Jota, what a shot. It takes a world-class goalkeeper to hold the fort and we have one by the name of ariola. Basically, Parker-ball is reliant and very effective when our forwards harrass and press the opposition defenders and just break up their rythum on the whole. The top teams have constantly had the run and too much respect in the game for far too long now and along comes Scott Parker to gate-crash the party. I am sure that the likes of MST and Time is now can explain all the other techno- bull to our game more than i can. I will just concentrate on all the hairy-fairy jargon which all you guys seem to enjoy. To sum up Parker-ball, it is like playing for Barcelona-Man City, with a hint of the old-school park the bus Jose Mourhiho, especially in the 2nd half, did you get that? The truth might be that Parker-ball might catch on and all teams might cancel each other out, leading to low score and nil-nils, Pheeewww!!!!!!

Kopp thought that despite our good run, we would still be a soft touch, and it would also give him a chance to make some changes, and get back to winning at home again. In the second half he realised his mistake and brought back his fire power, and it might have worked if our terrific keeper, not made that vital save, and Andersen hadn't hooked the ball away, but all ended well in the end. To think that Liverpool have now lost or drawn at home to not only us,but Burnley, Brighton and WBA. Burnley were the luckiest winners with that late, late penalty. We can still stay up, but we will need to improve at home, and if we beat, Leeds, Wolves, Burnley and Newcastle and pick up a couple of draws away somewhere, we can do it, but nerves kick in against both Burnley and Newcastle, especially if it all comes down to the last day.

We did just fine but and always a but, some of that shooting was just aweful, lookman jezus what is he about ? does he ever look up and see his options? all in all great show from a team on its knees a few weeks ago.

Even if we spent three times what we can afford on a striker you get no guarantees. Players who consistently score are very rare. So you need goal scoring midfielders and we are missing them.

When you make an historic allusion, such as the comparison between Sturgeon and Robert the Bruce it’s always a good idea to know your facts. Whether Sturgeon is good or bad for Scotland is debatable but the facts about Robert the Bruce are that after several years of war with England he achieved independence after the battle of Bannockburn. This remained so until the act of union in 1707. As for Fulham, I believe that we have the wherewithal to survive.

Only way i see Parker will stay with us for next season is we stay up and Khan invest £50-70m and sign some of the key loans (Areola £10m?, Andersen £20m, Lemina £15m? and possibly Lookman £20m)...that's about £65m worth of players. On top, he would need to sign a proper striker - say £20m. Selling Mitro and our fringe players may recover £30m or so.

That Rangers lot couldn't care less what you call them. It has taken so long to win a title and comes what may' they are gonna party! The lockdown has gone on long enough and mere mortals want to come out and breathe. The harsh reality is that some people will not be taking the vaccine so this virus will be with us in body and spirit forever. Boris Johnson will not call for another lockdown any time this century and who can blame him now? Our country will be on its knees in recession and job losses. Nicola Sturgeon is equilivant to Robert The Bruce and will sell Scotland down the river and most likely skint them. Her dislike for Boris and England, in general, could see Scotland sink to oblivion just like half of Europe will eventually in my opinion. It takes somebody with brains to rule countries rather than emotional feelings...

Just to add, when will people understand that the vaccination does not make you immune only lessens the risk of serious illness. You can still catch and spread the illness after vaccination. Additionally the new variants appearing all the time across the world means the vaccination will become more hit or miss. Ultimately we have to learn to live with this illness and social distancing will remain for a generation.

If you drive a car you can be killed in it. If you work in a office it can catch fire, if you work on a building site something can fall on you, if work on the roads you can fall down a hole. Believe me' Lookman was a nightmare against Liverpool. Our goal came from the opposite side but overall, it was the Lookman side of the pitch where we opened them up time and time again. Lookman can always find spaces on the counter very quickly and he was away like a flash. Sometimes he can make a wrong decision but in the main he is very quick which tends to catch us out. The stats will always say that the Lookman side of the pitch gives opponents the most headaches. We can afford to put up with Lookmans ball greediness in my opinion. I would rather have him than play against him...

Lookman played well but Maja was always waiting in the box for the ball, a real forward. We could have been three up by halftime if Lookman had been a little less selfish. He will learn, he has already learnt so much from Parker.

Yes I do like to see him take a shot on goal, I also like him to take a quick look and make a pass if other players are in a better position.

RLC on the bench was a step everyone knew was needed. Parker finally did it. The other change was Aina for Robinson at LB, with Tete at RB. Robinson has ridiculous pace, and rarely gets beat. But Aina offers more going forward, and a better rapport with Lookman. Teté is the best RB we have. Parker is learning, the players are fighting. COYW!!!!
Replies
Aina is the most improved player in the squad, when he first appeared for Fulham he looked unfit, lazy, overweight and slow. He has improved so much now, but still feel he has to stay on the right of the defence. Robinson's confidence has been knocked a bit now, lets hope he fights for the left back position and claims it as his own.

Fulham's Parker staying focused despite 'massive' result By Chris Bascombe Scott Parker, the Fulham manager, urged his players to keep their eyes on the prize and finish their survival quest rather than get distracted by the scale of their Premier League recovery. Parker’s side was considered a certainty to return to the Championship after their poor start to the season, but victory over Liverpool moved them level with Brighton and only a point behind Newcastle. Asked if he could sense those above fretfully looking over the shoulder, Parker said: “It’s not for me to say. All I will say is what we need to focus on is us and what keeps making us better and makes us the team I want us to be. If that is our focus I know we will be more than fine in this league. “What is happening around us, or who we are dragging in or what other results are, is an irrelevance. If we had listened or watched or taken any focus from ourselves we would not be in the position we are in. So the message stays the same. The players understand it is about us and keeping on moving in the right direction. Don’t worry about the noise and who is winning and not winning.” Parker added: “I picked a team to suit Liverpool’s style and how we could hurt them. The attacking players were nothing short of fantastic, stretching the game and always a goal threat. I am immensely proud. We were fantastic. It is a massive result."

Scott Parker paced anxiously around his technical area, hollered instructions and then, when the release of the final whistle came, clenched his fists, screamed in delight and hugged his assistants. Notwithstanding the fact that everyone wins at Anfield except Liverpool these days, this was a landmark success for Fulham. Two moments at the end of either half encapsulated how Parker and his players achieved what was only a second ever victory in 35 attempts on this ground to bolster belief that they could orchestrate a remarkable escape from the jaws of relegation. There was the sight of the central defender Joachim Andersen, on loan from Lyons and better than any defender wearing red, perfectly positioned in his own six-yard box to clear a low cross from Andrew Robertson in the 92nd minute. Behind him, the substitute Sadio Mané was lurking, his right foot awaiting the chance to tap in. Andersen’s intervention ensured the lead that Fulham’s endeavour and intent earned just before the interval would remain gloriously intact. A free kick from the right by Ivan Cavaleiro was headed clear by Robertson to Mohamed Salah, who controlled the ball with his chest as he faced his own goal on the edge of the penalty area. Before he brought it under his spell, however, Mario Lemina snaked out his right foot to win possession, took another touch and then rifled a shot with unerring accuracy beyond the diving Alisson and into the far corner. Lemina had been quicker, stronger and more determined. The repercussions of this outcome will reverberate from Sussex to Tyneside. Fulham remain third from bottom, but are now level on points with Brighton & Hove Albion and one behind Newcastle United. Momentum lies with them with ten games remaining, and the way in which Parker has coaxed and cajoled his side into becoming such a well-drilled, threatening outfit reflects well on him whatever happens next.

Everybody seems to think that our main rivals for relegation are Brighton and Newcastle, but in my opinion, and a few others as well, my bet would be Burnley, who people seem to ignore, but their fixture list, which includes away games at Everton, Southampton and Man United and also very importantly, Brighton and Fulham. Their home fixtures also include Newcastle and West Ham, and a hopefully improving by May, Liverpool.

How great was it to hear Danny Murphy on MOTD2 say, “Fulham have a great song.... ‘Stand up if you still believe’, ....and I think they will be singing it now”. Brilliant, not because we are on a decent run, but good to hear because when we sing these songs in the stands the players actually hear what we are singing and take it on board. Great to know we’re not wasting our voices.
Replies
Danny did not say it but the others were on a poor Liverpool note rather good Fulham. Until we have won the title a dozen times, the cup a lot and the champions league a few times we will not be recognised as a good team. We have not won many games this season but we have beaten three of the best teams in this league so we can hold our heads up high knowing what a good team we are.

I think Scott Parker should leave, ASAP. Only one goal at Anfield, Disgraced. Get rid of him like we did Bobby Robson, he never went on to do anything after Fulham and I think Parker will be the same. I doubt he will ever be considered for another Prem team, let alone get the chance to manage an England team

Great credit to the team and Parker for finally getting what they deserved after a run of cruel luck and decisions going against them in reason matches. The players fought for each other and Andersen was outstanding as was our keeper. We have looked like a Premier side over the last eight games and now no longer look certainties for relegation. We need to maintain the level that we achieved in the first half as we started to give he ball away too often and our passing deteriorated. For me, every minute of the second half seemed like an hour and put years on me. Beginning to gradually recover.

What a good win, but nerves got the better of me, and I switched off for the last 15 minutes. I know I'm a coward, but I just thought that it would better not to watch, the trouble was that when I did start watching again there was still 4 minute's of extra time to play, and that was still sweaty palm time.

There were many among us, and that is including me, thought that we would get about 1 point from our next three games, but we have exceded that, and we have 3 points already, and we all know that it should have been 4, even before we play Manchester City next weekend. I see that the bookies have made Newcastle 11/10 favourites for the 3rd place drop, and we have gone out to 13/8, with Brighton 4/1, and Burnley at 6/1. Interesting.

Any thoughts on how many points will be needed to stay up? I had hoped it would be 35 but now feeling it may well be 36. Could do with B&HA v Newcastle being a draw as it would be deflating for both and stop one of them edging away from us.

We've reached our point tally for our last feeble attempt at survival in the Premier League 26. With 10 games to go I think 12 points would definitely do the job.

Will we ever be able to get out of the bottom three, as it seems whatever we do, another team, and in this case Newcastle, manages to thwart us, to keep us down there, and even Brighton have a better goal difference, although on the same points mark. Despite that we must, after today's great result, have have fighting chance of survival now.

Well done to the team today. What a battling display, a fair amount of skill and a deserved three points. Looking at the table, only 6 teams have done better over their last five matches in terms of points earned. I've previously criticised Cav so it's only fair to dish out some well-earned praise for his contribution today. I hope someone works with Lookman on his decision-making; huge amounts of skill but needs to do better when choosing to shoot or pass. Congrats to Lamina on his first goal - super anticipation and cool finish.

Time is now' we played a stronger Liverpool team back at Fulham and we should have beaten them then. Our weak-link has always been our finishing and final product. The form doesn't lie at the end of the day and we are a good team. I also think that all teams will take notice that Fulham are no longer a soft touch and to beat us, they have to break us down. I just didn't get the nonsense talk that Scott Parker has got us playing crab football from side to side? We have found a system that nullifies any opponent which is based on safety first, and admittedly it needs tweaking to an extent. We still have problems scoring goals and we are not free-flowing in that department. Our next game is against Man City which doesn't really matter who now, but there might still be a need for freshening our team up? Scotty should utilize our bench much more, bring back Anguissa for instance. Harrison Reed was combative and the buckling cavalier in this game like he was at Everton, but after Everton, he was not so effective. Sometimes the top games take the edge of players and Scotty should learn this. I would say to Scott Parker' 'don't try to play an unchanged side against City weekend because we are not at that level yet where we can do this. I hope now that some fans who are not so convinced, look at form and read it properly. The stats tell you that we are hard to beat, regardless of who we play. Newcastle have the worst goal against record which say that they are the most likely team above us to drop in the danger zone etc. The Fulham fans who doubt Fulham should apologise, are you insane? Spurs beat us and we were robbed, and we are supposedly no better than the championship? Any Fulham fans who still think that nonsense should be flogged and put in the stocks and have rotten tomatoes thrown at them. What do you say 'Kunye'??? COME ON FULHAM!!!!!!!

IFAB have changed the stupid handball rule which compounded its stupidity by being inconsistent with when an attacker handled the ball (in the style of Lamina). Josh Maja is the type of striker who can strike in the first or last minute. In between all that you might not see him but he still knows the route to goal...

Slightly off-piste but probably still more exciting than the dull West Brom vs Newcastle match! If you listened to radio today or on any social media, you’d be bombarded with 3 thing. School opening (good topic), Harry and Meghan (FFS!) and this new gender pension gap that a woman in her twenties today would have a pension pot less than a man by 100k. Not sure what they want to be done unless a woman is paid to take a career break, which I believe is the primary reason. There should be a campaign for me to explain why women get their state pension earlier and why men’s life expectancy is around 5 years less than women?? Surely 5 years of living is just as important as 100k pension pot in 40years time. I am not complaining for me and am a big supporter of gender equality (jobs, pay, rights, etc) but sometimes i feel some women can’t stop feeling sorry for themselves. Sorry gone off-piste and I know I will be shot down by many people here that I am sexist (I am not!)

Yes we know the goal should have stood. Yes we know VAR is not the best. Our issue is we do not take enough chances so we are reliant on the one goal to help us. Hopefully the team can take a chance and take some shots and see what it creates rather than too much tippy tappy around the box. Lets stop blaming one decision and VAR and get behind the team and hopefully we will come good in front of goal. COYW

We all know VAR and the idiots operating it are creating problems. The solution, allow each manager the allowance of one challenge to go to VAR each half, if the challenge is successful it remains in play for that half. The VAR challenge can only be made after a goal scored or red card. Aside from the manger challenge VAR only used by ref for purely objective decisions (ie was it in or outside box, wrong identification of player getting cautioned) offside decisions can only be challenged by manager when it involves a goal scored. This would improve things dramatically.
Replies
VAR is not the problem it is the rules and the way the VAR officials are instructed. They will change that silly hand-ball rule next season and one hopes they look at offside. In cricket for LBW they allow a margin of error that favours the batsmen they could do that with offside leave a margin of error that favours the attacking team. Off-side was originally introduced to stop players hanging around in the attacking half where ever they liked its interpretation has become overblown.

Apparently, those Spurs lot think that Andersen especially is far too good for Fulham and they fancy Areola too. Andersen was on the Tottenham radar list in 2018 and he was priced up around the 20 million mark back then. Dropping back down into the Championship could see the break-up of this squad and us Fulham right back to square one. What is square one in the Fulham school of hard knocks? Re-building a team again would be painful for all to watch with Scott Parkers system which needs time and patience. Don't get me wrong, i like what Parker is doing so far, but it is taking time to cultivate. Take out 6 and half dozen players and back to the Championship will not see us doing a Norwich any time soon. Fulham has always been slow burners and it would be too much of an upheaval with the likes of Anderson, Lookman, and Loftus Cheek gone in my opinion. Playing Liverpool tomorrow can go horribly wrong if we gamble and open up too much, so i think Parker will set up the same as usual with a cautious approach in the first half and raise the tempo 2nd half. I think we should expect the same against Man City before we can really release the brakes and let loose maybe against Leeds? Maybe we can pick something from the remaining top teams we play, but against Leeds it could be like a typical game of open play against 2 teams that like to play football. Against Leeds could be like a typical Championship game and full of incidence. Letting loose and throwing caution to the wind a little bit will see the likes of Mitrovic introduced a lot earlier? Scott Parker may well throw further caution to the wind in the conquest of goals which might mean we play with one less defender depending on results against Liverpool and City. To stay in this division we need wins and goals and i am still hopeful. We have stopped leaking goals but now we must find a way and passage to goals galore. If there is any chance to keep the likes of Andersen, Lookman, and the ever so popular Loftus Cheek, we must let loose and throw caution to the wind. COME ON FULHAM' and lets go 'ere' Parker!!!!!!!!!

Owen get real we are going to return the loanees at the seasons end plus a couple of our talented players, then we have what Mitro,,, Betts,,, mawson,,,knockhart ,,,cairney,,, include this lot next season and we are mid table championship side. Make no mistake we are going down

Can’t compare us to Norwich they never spend big and are coming back up with the same squad, was at Liverpool a few years ago when Dempsey got the winner, think it was a midweek game. Considering they’ve lost the last 5 at home gotta fancy our chances.

Agree owen that we would have to rebuilt but would add that if we went back up we would have to rebuild again. Not an attractive proposition for any mánager and less for the squad players who know they would have no chance of the got us back to pl.

If we do or don’t go down, Areola and Andersen will be picked from us by the the “top 6” and Lookman will have offers and RLC will go back to Chelsea.

A better day would be Burnley not getting the help of VAR!! Normally at this time of the season the bottom teams are in a race to the bottom - so if we can even get one point from the next two games, it would be decent

A young mother was pushing her baby along the street in Manchester when suddenly a huge rottweiler dog lunged towards the pram, gnashing its teeth. The young woman thought for a moment that the dog would kill them when suddenly a man rushed over, wrestled with the rottweiler and broke it's neck with his bare hands. Another man rushed to the scene and said, "I am a reporter and I saw everything that happened. Wait until I put the headline in my paper. It will read 'Manchester United fan saves baby from savage rottweiler!" "No you can't write that!" replied the man. "But why not?" said the reporter. "Because I am not a Manchester United fan, that's why!" replied the man. "Oh, okay then," said the reporter, "I will write Manchester City supporter saves mother and baby from savage rottweiler!" "You can't write that either," said the man. "Why not?" asked the reporter. "Because I am a Liverpool fan!" replied the man. "Oh I see," said the reporter, "How about this then, 'Scouse ******* kills family pet!"

If a player is under contract he still gets his wages when injured. Any firm that does not have full sick pay for an agreed period is not worth working for, otherwise one day you are working and month later you may be on the street.

I agree but some players would play through anything and break all barriers to play for a team fighting for their lives,Cairney is definitely not one of those. When he was supposedly captain Kevin Macdonald used to do the team talk as you can tell I’m not a big fan of Toms.

I belong to a generation which grew up without the technological abundance of today for which I am more than grateful as I have no doubt that all these so called advances have negatively affected personal human relationships in many ways. I have no intention of entering into a debate about this, so I will simply admit that most of these are wonderful inventions which do however share a common problem, they are handled by human beings and many a time not in the most appropriate manner. This leads me on to VAR. A fabulous invention immensely misused. This gadget should be an assistance to the referee, however its anything but. Our highly technological and sentitive society has converted it into a permanent conflict. Possibly the fault lies not in what it can do but in how someone has decided to use it. In my opinión when a doubt occurs, be it yesterdays, a penalty, an offside or whatever ,a referee can make or miss a decisión and go into immediate dispute. At that very moment VAR comes in, there should be a máximum of 15 seconds for a split new decisión to be made. If it cant be made then the refs decisión stands and play goes on. Var should only bother about the big errors. With this philosophy our goal yesterday would have stood, so would have the 1966 hurst goal, but other episodes such as the south korean world cup cheating vs italy & Spain, or blatent fouling by Holland in the world cup final in South Africa could have been identified and dealt with .
