This is the time when we should beat them. If you look at their results so far this season the standout loss is 4-1 to Coventry. The old saying goes, 'Cometh the hour, Cometh the man' and there is no truer saying. All the best to Gonzalo; he shows promise. Works hard and good lay-off movement but we need him to be in the right places to score goals, this is the game to do it. There is a recent article about our new defender, Affenbruger; They are saying that we won't keep him because he is too good. He is decent in a not so flashy way and with him and Bassey in there we are solid as a rock. They are all important but Berge in particular, he is a big part of our play, he is massive. I still say there is a part in our team for Smith Rowe, he has decent link-up play and i would like to see him in there with Cairney at some point. Nothing we can do but work with what we have until...

I have a programme given to me from 24th November 1945. It is a bi-fold paper programme and cost two (old) pence. It is Fulham v Charlton which someone pencilled a 1-3 win for Charlton. Fulham team was H. Rickett, J. Bacuzzr, H. Freeman, J. Evan’s, E.Hiles, H. Wallbanks, J. Taylor, J. Miller, D. Rampling, R. Rooke, A. Shepherd. Adverts are NUFIX dressing for hair and the Laurel blade for shaving. If anyone at Fulham would like it for the archives let me know. I also have a similar programme for Chelsea v Spurs on 17th November 1945.
Replies
The Chelsea programme has a lost and found section as follows: Lost, a metal cigar lighter bearing a red lion. Of great sentimental value to a Russian lady because of its connection with the historic siege of Stalingrad. Found, a khaki great coat obviously belonging to a forgetful RASC sergeant.

We should have signed him no excuses! Doing well for Everton and Moyes is the Manager to get a tune out of him. We make too many wrong judgements at Fulham and i can recall some didn't think he was worth a punt, believe it or not.

We have three strikers already so had to sell one before we could buy one, or we could not afford him or he simply did not want to come to Fulham.

Following recent posts relating to the past many older members of this board, like me, occasionally sit in their favourite armchair and think about their youth which will include football. I often argue with my son on the merit of present day footballers and those of yesteryear. Whilst he maintains the present generation are fitter and more skilful I have my doubts although one can never really make comparisons of different generations. Today, commentators talk about footballers as if they are so accomplished that they are able to bend the ball, put side on it and almost make it talk. What they don’t mention is present day footballs are akin to balloons and are liable to deviate no matter who kick them and that includes children. Players are playing, for most of the time on wonderful pitches whilst wearing individually crafted boots. Going back to my younger days some of the pitches were atrocious and as a result games were often postponed due to pitches being unfit or even abandoned due to conditions. Most pitches descending into mud baths after too much rain and who can recall the old Baseball ground which would not be tolerated. Put the present day players on those grounds wearing the old toe-capped boots and see whether they could cope. I digress as I set out to comment on the Fulham full back combinations of Bacuzzi and Freeman. I only knew him as Joe although his names were. Guiseppe Luigi David Bacuzzi. Both Joe and Harry joined Fulham in 1937 and whilst Harry retired in 1952 Joe continued until he was nearly 40 when a serious knee injury force him to retire in 1955. Harry was our free kick specialist and my goodness he was considered one the best strikers of the old leather ball of his era. A wonder pair of full backs who served our club magnificently for 15 years together.

My favourite is about Maurice Cook when the whole team was paid £30 a week in the winter and £20 in the close season. Maurice finds out that Haynes is still being paid £30 during the summer. Incandescent he storms into Bedford Jezzard the managers office and with every other wording the F one demands to know why despite his Hurculean efforts. It’s because he’s better player than you Maurice Not in the f@@@@ ng summer he isn’t was the prompt reply. Priceless

My favourite player was Charlie George and i seen him at the Baseball ground twice, and yo are correct Bigboy, the ground in those days was more mud than grass. Charlie George was signed by Derby County from Arsenal and i guess George had his best days with Arsenal but he was still one of the greatest in my eyes and i just went nuts as a kid just to glimps the great man in action. Sadly George was more injury prone than in action and his playing days were limited at Derby. Bruce Rioch left the biggest impression on me when i saw him hit a 35-yarder that travelled through a muddy baseball ground and what a goal it was. Sadly i can't remember who the match was against. When i was a kid i regularly saw Derby players jogging along the Derby roads. Players such as Colin Todd, Kevin Hector and Roy McFarland, etc. You never see players road jogging very often nowadays. Kevin Hector went on to work for the post office. I guess some of them had to supplement their income through proper jobs. Henry Newton owned a post office i used to pop into every now and again and he was one of the nicest people you could ever meet and he always remembered your name and addressed you as Mr first with your sir name. Sadly Henry died a few years ago, he was a gentleman. Ironically, the passion for all things Fulham came about purely through a fantasy team and competition organised through work and a real nerdy set up of guys who quiz and we played fantasy football every week and my points added came from players such as Steed Malbranque, etc. I got stuck with the label of Fulham and i guess Fulham grew on me. One more thing about the Baseball ground? When i was a kid i sneaked in through a little turret door. The stadium had turret doors round and round and for reasons i don't know, some doors you could push open and join the crowd lol.

Not that anyone will be really interested, but at one time in my younger days, my neighbour in Worcester Park in Surrey was Charlie Mitten, who was a lovely man. I have a feeling that Bobby Robson moved into the same house when Charlie moved. Graham Leggett used to live in the same road, and I often travelled to and from matches with him, on the train. Yes, on the train. I was lucky enough to make friends with Tony Barton, and would you believe I used to run him home in Sutton after our games, as I had a car, and he didn't, Can you imagine a top footballer not having a car these days ? I kept in touch with Tony for many years, but lost touch when he became the Villa manager, quite a long time before he died, at a far too early age. Sorry to boore you.

I will probably bore you even more, with this true story. When I did my National Service, I was in the same RAOC unit as John Bond. Although he was still playing for West Ham, everybody had to do the two years. One weekend he was playing for West Ham against Fulham, and he arranged tickets for me and a few others. He said that he would score against us. Needless to say he did, from a free kick, and we lost 3-1. When I got back to Paddington to return to Didcot where we were stationed, who was the first one I saw, yes it was John Bond, and he kept rubbing it in about his goal. I will never forget it.

I love these stories about the past. I also did my two years National service, and I played in the same football team as Maurice Norman, who played for Norwich City at the time, before joining Spurs, and he also played for England later. Unbelievably he could hardly read or write, and I used to help him write letters to his then girlfriend, who later become his wife. Unfortunately I hear that he died recently, which is sad. Keep the stories coming.

Here's another story for you. When I was friendly with Tony Barton. We played Stoke City, and we were leading 1 -0 at HT, and playing well. The 2nd half we played really badly, but managed to hold on to the lead, with a 1-0 win. In the car on the way home, I sked Tony why we were so bad in the 2nd half, where we played hoof ball. Tony told me that a HT Ken Hewkins our keeper at the time, had a fist fight with Johnny Haynes, and Hewkins said I will pay you back by letting in a couple of goals. We had to spend the second half stopping Stoke scoring by belting the ball up the field as often as possible, but we managed to hold on. I don't think that Hewkins played many times after that. We don't always know what goes on in the dressing room. I'm sure that the United dressing room isn't happy place at the moment.

Everyone is putting our goal at Villa on Saturday, as an own goal. I'm Sorry, but I do not agree. To me the goal should have been down to Iwobi. If he taken a shot from about 18 yards, and the keeper had fumbled the ball over the line, it would have been Iwobi's goal. The corner was the same thing, as it would have been a curler into the keeper and he fluffed it. My records will say that our goal was scored by Iwobi.
Replies
Watched it frame by frame and the moment the ball makescontact with suzukis hands 90% of his body is inside the goal line so i would definiately go along with you in giving Iwobi the goal. What i dont know is at what instant does the technology flash "Goal",when it hits the ground or whilst in the air.

Agree sure the rule is if on target it goes to player. Looked to me if keeper didn’t touch it, it goes in that makes it Iwobi goal

The majority of us consider the necessity to acquire a decent striker is of paramount importance. In the past, many clubs including ourselves, have achieved this by searching the lower divisions. We need to get ours scouts to get out and about seeking gems who are scoring consistently. Look at the Scottish and Irish league’s where there are strikers waiting to be found. Congratulations to the team on a gutsy performance at the Villa yesterday with the Cheif getting it right whilst I got it wrong. I believe we could have won if we had just taken our chances. Good attacking football with our defence generally coping well.
Replies
As we have a place in Southampton where we stay occasionally I keep an eye on Southampton FC who have a striker name of Cyle Larkin whose pretty good( in the Championship) 8 goals in 11 appearances this season. He’s on a contract which runs to ‘28 and they’ve just got striker on loan from Man. City. I’m sure he do better than Muniz.
posted by Mortlake (Guest) - Monday 02nd November 2026, 12:09 PM

I agree 100% that we need a target man that can score goals but we cannot do anything about our lack of scoring goals until January and we may not find one, every team will be in competition for a striker. Mortlake, i am sure your suggested striker would do better than Gonzalo also who has had a terrible run of a near 8 games without scoring now. Muniz got his chance against Palace and it was a big 90 minutes and he didn't score and they both need goals pronto. I may sound like a broken record but i think Arbeloa missed a trick by not subbing Muniz on earlier than the 80th minute onwards which is too late to get into the swing of things. Muniz is bad enough but if you look at his record on the pitch, it is minimal. We cannot do anything about a striker until January so we might as well get the ring rusty Muniz working harder and doing more minutes on the pitch and maybe share 45 minutes between the two of them. It is starting to get obvious and long in the tooth now when Gonzalo is playing out his skin every week and not doing what we pay him to do. Gonzalo is showing some nice touches when out of position i must agree but both Gonzalo and Palacios in midfield are struggling for awareness in their different roles. Muniz we will sell on for 15-20 million and i think there is a footballer in there somewhere. Muniz was Marco's prize project and he liked him a lot and it wouldn't have made any difference in what we were saying about him when Marco was here, which is bizarre. Gonzalo will eventually settle down and his confidence will rise but i don't see him as a prolific goal getter in this league, his height and his build isn't enough for this league. Both him and Palacious should and would have been learning their trade in the reserve league for most teams.

Or Jimmy Jinx, I bet that hardly any of our posters, even remember him. If we think that we are bad at scoring, Liverpool couldn't score today against Arsenal, and may I remind you, Liverpool couldn't score against us either at Anfield. Compared with Liverpool's strikers, our strikers are worth peanuts, but they like today, failed to score against Arsenal, after practically dominating the game. Arsenal's early goal proved to be the winner, so even top strikers, including Haarland, don't always score. So let's be more patient with Garcia and Oscar for now.

With five subs tactics have changed. The manager decides which of his four players would benefit from giving everything in 65 minutes then being substituted. One sub is saved for injuries or say to put on Cairney on for ten minutes to stop the opposition getting a late goals. This is the tactic most managers now use as it is very logical but to supporters it seems to be taking off the best performing players and replacing less good ones. The less good ones are fit and may be able to take advantage of the tiring opposition players. All in all very sensible tactics making use of the situation.
Replies
I can see your logic, TTIN but it would be suicide to take off the likes of Berge for Palacios just because you think Berge is tired? There is knowing when a player is tired and there is a word called 'winging it' and Arbeloa has winged it a bit with his subs in some games that we have lost, sad to say. Yes, he will learn and we all learn all the time the more we do anything repetitive in life but the life of a football manager is a results one and the quicker they get winning results the better for keeping their jobs. A wrong set of substitutions in so many games will see us losing and that's a fact. The best managers in the world don't always do subs because players are tired. Sometimes a tired player will have to carry the team for whatever reason the manager decides he should carry on. There is more to football and substitutions than we could imagine, that's why the top guys get the big bucks.
posted by OWEN - Sunday 01st November 2026, 9:20 PM

Wanted to say that Palacios doesn't have the required experience to cover a job that wants doing going forward in the midfield sadly to say so no amount of shuffling around him will gain us much sad to say. Arbeloa i think is persevering with his Spanish contingent in the hope that they improve and i don't blame him for that, a lot of money is invested in our Spanish boys.

Its my guess some are now looking at teams below us already hoping they keep on losing, bit like west ham last season.

It has taken a while for the new players to settle in and for the ways adapt to the new tactics, but it now seems to be all coming together. The manager knows the weakness is our finishing so he will be looking for ways to solve that with players he has got.

To take out the Patriot interceptors out of the Ukraine and to restrict the communication satellites that they need to keep up with the constant Russian bombardment would severely impact and weaken the Ukrainians' chance of survival immensely. I liken our trio or quartet of players such as Oscar Bobb, King, Iwobi and Berge as our human version of Patriot missiles and it felt like Arbeloa did just that last night as we were on top and pressing probing and searching for a break-through on goal. I can't exactly describe the feeling when our guy's were subbed last night but we lost the drive and impetus going forward. I am happy with the result like most fans and a draw we all would have taken before the game. Saying all that, substitutions are always important for tactical reasons etc etc and Arbeloa will have to learn quickly how and why a substitution can impact and lose you a game of football. In our case, i think we could and should have gotten a win from a Villa that had run out of ideas and they looked a touch ragged and devoid of ideas except to run us on the counter. Yes i accept that people will say shut up and enjoy the result, Owen which is fair enough. There are still a few regular people on here who for reasons i don't know have not commented and given their opinions yet? Maybe they are peeling spuds and helping out with the Sunday roast? Would just like to say, we are intelligent people on here and we like to debate opinions which are varied and overall we are very interesting people more so than that Brentford lot who are jealous and envious of our Fulham site. I wasnt keen on posting anything new for a while as in the same way that the UK is being taken over, i get the feeling that this site has also been invaded by posters who didnt exist a few months ago and who appear not to be contributing many points of interest. In fact maybe they are all the same person. Anyway, valid point Owen. Although a fully support the AA project, he does have a pèculiar way of subbing . We no longer have super Harry on the bench . Exchanging muñiz with Gonzalo and TC with anybody is a valid movement. However i have been revising our last 4 prem matches and its those 80th minute changes where Larsson and ESR have come on that really unbalance the side and we all know the consequences. This leads me to raising a question which on this site can probably best be answered by the likes of yourself or MST. Is it possible that some subbing is forced upon for economical reasons? i.e. players contracts being valued by the times they hit the field.

Most importantly we all want 1 thing,to improve as a team/squad managers come and go as do owners fans are there forever. It’s a bit naive to expect a manager with zero premier league experience to take over and not make any mistakes. The vital ingredient missing is goals and until we find that weather it be with what we have(unlikely)or what we need will have to be patient.

Fantastic performance yesterday,if only we could start taking our chances we’d be right up there. Most fans would have to admit that if we give AA a chance he can build a really good squad seen a massive improvement in our displays in fact apart from Sunderland away we’ve looked decent.

I know that it is daft, but I keep changing my mind about our season, after every match. Against Palace, I was almost ashamed to think that I was a Fulham fan, as we were so bad. Considering how much of a jinx to us, I would have thought that AA, would have put out a stronger team, like we did yesterday, but no, we made 10 changes, and we know what happened. Yes, Palace made 10 changes as well, but I couldn't care less about what they did. Once again, we have thrown away a good chance of a decent cup run. Now after yesterday, here's me thinking, that we are a decent side after all. Alright, we were unlucky with Villa's penalty miss, but we made up for that, and at times outplayed a side that had just beaten Man City. I know that we won with different club colours than normal against Coventry, but wasn't it good to see us playing in our normal black and white. The biggest change yesterday was Robinson's performance, which was superb, compared to Wednesday's dreadful showing. You wouldn't have thought it was the same player. This morning I am full of hope for a decent season, but lose next Saturday, and I will probably change my mind again. That's football for you.

You lot are on drugs if you think that 1 away point means we have turned any sort of corner. We STILL cannot score a goal. Our forwards are toothless. It took a missed penalty and an unforced error by their goalie, to get something out of the game. Gonzo couldn't hit a cow's backside with a banjo, Bobb missed a sitter as did Iwobi and the defending for their goal was Keystone Cops material.

Scrappy but we have only lost once in 5 maybe 6 games, so can’t be all bad.

With any type of goal scorer, we would be sitting in the top 8, instead of still looking behind us. We have only lost 1 match in the last 5, which is good, but we were winning the game we lost with just a few minutes to go. That Ipswich loss will annoy me for the rest of the season, come what may, and I only hope that we can make them pay for that in the return fixture. We should have been in the lead before Villa scored, but that we weren't was not Bobb's miss, it was Villa's keeper's brilliant save. We were also lucky with that missed penalty. I fully expected Jackson to have taken it, but thank goodness he didn't, as we would not have got a point. In the old days, they would never have got that penalty, as the referee didn't spot a handball, and only VAR picked it up. It was hardly a deliberate handball, but hopefully we will receive a good VAR decision, sometime soon. Villa got away with it, last season, when Josh King was pulled down in the penalty area, but VAR overlooked that one. Because of our lack of a Mitro, we will be in a relegation fight all season, unless we can find a good striker in January, but where from I ask you ?

We dominated possession so no need for Palacios who is good for nothing and Cairney not really needed up to that point. There is nothing wrong in the way how we dominate but we just cannot finish teams off and that's the problem. Arbeloa is a wind-up of a manager sometimes, we just lost the emphasis with those subs.

Agree about Bobb, should have kept him on. Yes a good point but we really should be taking advantage from the 50th minute onwards. I wouldn't give Arbeloa more than 5 out of ten tactically and that's the difference from turning a possible loss from a missed penalty into a winning night. It just feels like we lost something after getting on top of them.

It was probably a fair result, but if it wasn't for Villa's keepers error, we wouldn't have scored. Saying that, if it wasn't for their keeper's two vital saves, we would have won. That save from Oscar was just world class. Who was that imitation Robinson would played against Palace, as the real Jedi turned up today, and what a difference. Oscar Bobb is just improving in leaps and bounds, and even Garcia looked much better this evening. 7 points from 3 games is a big improvement, so if we can keep that up, we will steadily climb the table.

Agree with your comments Craven . An improvement to be sure but there are still a lot of questions to be asked. Whilst the second half was good the first was pretty awful. Questions about the managers substitutes too.

As one commentator said the five subs mean certain players can give there all for 65 minutes then be substituted. The exception is Cairney who is put on late to stop us conceding a late goal. It is not difficult to see which players are working extra hard in a game. The manager decides who he want to give their all for 65 minutes and tells them.

? ? ? iPad iPad Sent from my iPad iPad Pro ?Having just returned from a late Autumn holiday in Egypt it gave me time to reflect on Fulham’s recent performances. I was certain we had a good chance of collecting three points against Ipswich but once again we failed to capitalise on our superior possession due to our inability to score more than our one goal. Just when it appeared we would succeed the Tractor Boys conjured up two goals in the last five minutes. The team have failed time and time again to defend a one goal lead due to poor substitutions and the continual preference to utilise the Spanish players who cannot adjust to Premier football. The following week against the high flying Tigers, a game we were expected to lose, saw a wonderful attacking performance which made Hull look like a Second Division side. I have seldom seen such a one sided game where we turned the opposition inside out. I don’t believe Hull even had a shot on our goal whilst our forwards were virtually camped in Hull’s penalty area for 75% of the game with King and Bobb outstanding. However, once again we failed to exceed our scoring quota of one when it could and should have been six. I just do not understand the continual inability for our failure tho score goals and it stresses the need to find a good old fashioned striker who can finish opportunities created by others. We then visited fellow strugglers Coventry where we needed to win. In a fairly even game neither side looked like scoring although, I thought we had the better chances. However, neither team could apply the finishing touch until Bobb produced a magical moment in the 80th minute font footwith wonderful control, and completely bemusing the defender and then hitting a wonderful shot into the far corner of the the net. This time we managed to hold on to a one goal lead. Two wins on the trot is was too much for AA who ran onto the pitch, prancing around with arms swinging like one of the screaming Dervishes that General Gordon faced in Khartoum. One would have thought we had won the League or, at least the Cup Final. Then came the EFL Cup match against or bogey team Crystal Palace which we were favoured to win as their recent results were appalling. We started on the front foot and dominated the game against a poor Palace side but, as usual, spurned chance after chance. With most of our players camped in or around the Palace penalty area, they broke quickly down the right flank with only one defender in sight, before switching the ball inside where the ex Arsenal player could had the easiest job of beating Lecomte from the 7 yards. Once more the game followed the similar pattern where once again we had 75% possession but failed to capitalise on our chances. There has been much discussion on whether AA should continue as manager ad in my opinion the answer is a definite NO. He appears oblivious to the fact that the people Spanish players are not up to standard and lack the experience to remain playing. The manager is slowly strangling the club and the form of several of Silvia’s old team have been cast aside which has caused unrest within the dressing room. The policy of a new broom sweeps clean is certainly not applicable in this case and it appears that by ignoring the Old guard which more than held their own in previous seasons apparently do not and will not be included in the starting line up. For me the manager needs to be shown the door sooner rather than later. This evening we face the Villa and I am afraid we will came away empty handed. Up
Replies
Agree we need a striker, and the Spanish boys have not settled yet but see glimpses of talent and are young. I’m still not sure about manager but feel he’s improved. As for Marcos players he gave some a chance v Palace Muniz and Andersen were very poor, so was Kevin when he came on like every game he’s had chances this season. Smith Rowe whose talented has been disappointment since at the club. Charles and Affengruber have been great signings. Let’s hope it comes good soon COYW

We could buy our way to success like some clubs do. Personally I would rather we continue to punch above our weight unlike some clubs who punch below their weight. What would change in our lives if we paid for success and achieved it? Happiness? No! And there would only be one way to go after that. Down. We are very very successful in our own unique way, which many other clubs probably envy.

All very poor managers for Fulham when we were’t “good enough”. If you want to go back further there are at least 10 poor managers I could name when we also weren’t “good enough” just during my support since 1973. I’m sure older fans could name many more.

Once that a sex maniac took over Fulham everything change and we went from being a poor team to one with much higher prospects. His money made the lower divisions look easy to get out and we started to become regular PL team, 13 consecutive seasons in fact. I know we have had some dreadful managers over the years and some decent ones but never one like the top teams can afford. The top teams have always been able to spend at least double what we do on players so we are not likely to win the League but other than the top teams win the cups but we have never managed to do that.

Even in the late 40s and 50s we were considered the poor neighbours and that was even before Chelsea had won anything, 1955 I recall. Fulham’s underdog status is why I chose to support them in preference to Chelsea, who should have been my first choice having been born in Walham Green. Guess I have that not uncommon English characteristic to support the underdog. Basically, due in part to ground size and succession of diabolical owners, we have always been a resource poor second string team and it’s kind of difficult to imagine us being anything else in the future. The injection of big bucks from our last two owners has definitely improved our possibilities, but we still have revenue limitations, albeit Brentford, Brighton and Bournemouth would suggest despite our limitations we could do better, as we did during the Roy Hodgson era, but the club contrived to blow those advances in quality. Not sure we can ever achieve more than a brief flirtation with success, but never say never. A brief moment in the sun can be more satisfying. Better to travel well than to arrive, as the old saying goes.

Just wayching Sky Sports News.. A.A. reported to have said 'Fulham need to do better in final third of pitch and that Muniz and Garcia need better service! Well pardon me for mentioning this, I thought as 1st team coach this would be an elementary requirement rather than tactics for any team in any game, which all professional players are aware of? If you have to instill this idea into your squad then you either have a huge failing in your training regime or the wrong and incapable players at your disposal, whichever the reason do not state the obvious to a TV channel without making yourself look even more displaced from your task let alone idiotic? One does not require an 'Einstein' to realise that not all players are equal, all possess specialities, some can unlock opponents defences with one pass, these are who are needed to supply this 'service', not leaving them on the bench awaitong the next transfer window to escape, two such players in my estimation are Harrison Reed and ESR, who possess more on field vision than some of AA.'s continued choices. If this 'Coach' cannot identify his players assets then we have the wrong person in charge, at more than one level!

Talking about clubs like Brentford, Bournemouth, and Brighton, who seem to be scoring goals for fun, something that we just can't seem to do. Have any of our fans ever watched these teams games, and honestly say that they know the names of their players. As you all know, my local team is Brighton, so many of my friends are ST holders at the Amex, and talking to one of their fans, he said that even he and his fellow ST holders don't know half of their team, and where they come from, but they keep producing goal scorers, which is something we have failed to do, since Mitro left. I loved Mitro, but I will never forgive him for leaving, just for the money, as if he didn't have enough already. Brentford and Bournemouth seem to regularly come up with strikes, even when they loose the top strikers. Embarrassingly we end up with Muniz and Gracia, who are pretty hopeless. Our predicament is all down to he useless Tony Khan, and if we do get relegated, I will put it down to him, and him alone, as he has absolutely no qualifications for the job, and choosing Managers for a Premier League club. He is is hardly here anyway.

I hope we continue to make good chances but we simply must put most of them in the net. Is that really hard and to much to ask. They all need to spend extra hours practising running through and scoring, scoring open goals and scoring through crowed penalty areas. Spend hours of your own time in making yourselves expert scorers.

I think i owe an apology to all fans after that performance from bench players who should be up to a basic standard of playing football. Kevin for instance should be capable of delivering corners that go beyond the far post, that was shocking from him. I want them to do well over the Spanish players and thinking about it, there are no excuses and i make tons of them. I am now in the camp for getting shot of Muniz who should be doing better now a long time after injury. Mortlake and Rich and anyone else i upset i sincerely apologise to you guys. I want the best for Fulham and maybe we can get a reaction from players against Villa Saturday.
Replies
We can only get rid of Muniz if we can get at a replacement scoring striker but they are very rare. I hope the Spanish players turnout good but with any young players you are taking a big risk they must all work tremendously hard to turn themselves into top Premier League players. A lot of young players do not have that in them, why so many players with obvious talent not make it and end up in lower divisions where life is much easier.

Whoever we sign should not be some Spanish rising star, but a quality British professional footballer of some experience. What I would give for a Danny Murphy, Alan Mullery or someone who could take our team by the scruff of the neck and turn in some good performances, for the increased cost of our season tickets this year,
Replies
What does our manager know about experienced Premier League players? He knows a lot about young Spanish players. Though of course the manager should only be an influencer in who we purchase as that is not part of his job description which makes it difficult to know why we acquired all those unproven young Spaniards. Part of the deal to sign him perhaps.

Enormously disilusioned by our carabao cup chances going down the pit, I thought it might be sensible to recap on some of the positives so far this season and being confident we will make xmas in a far better position than most on here think. Alvaro has transformed Berge beyond limits Marco would never dream, unfortunately never again should he have Anderson on his back nor anywhere in the team for that matter as he is totally incapable of playing at any decent pace. Cash at xmas please. Josh is our rising star and apart from his personal qualities somebody should take some credit for confiding in him. After yesterday I am extremely concerned about our full backs. I wont repeat anything already said so I will go to the point. Today I heard rumours that we could be after a 24 yo left back from Seville by the name of Kike Salas who IS an established la liga player, has just missed the Spain squad for November matches and affordable. Mean time please give the job to Sess, or even Cuenca played occasionally here for Villareal. Hes no by no means a terry cooper but pure defensive roll covering Bassey might be worth a try. On the other side im nearly equally concerned. Castagne is still simply just having a good run and Tete has lost his Ferrari and running a Scalextric. Yesterday was one of his worst performances I recall. This summer we just missed signing a Rumanian called Andrei Ratiu who plays for Rayo Vallecano , a Madrid club with ongoing problems with their chairman hence a chance to retake negotiations.

As my name implies LTS, it stands for, Long Time Supporter, I have been following Fulham, since the mid forties, so I have watched Fulham loads and loads of times. Obviously I have seen us play some highly entertaining, and good football sides, but my goodness I have seen some absolutely dire matches, of which last night's match was one. I am no doubt repeating myself, but when we were struggling in the lower leagues, and nearly ended in the Southern at one time. The only way I could stop watching Fulham, was to become a referee, and I was lucky enough to become and Isthmian league referee, and along the way in different competitions, I actually refereed the likes of Chelsea, Arsenal, Brentford, and yes Fulham at CC, which was a dream, believe me. If some of you younger guys are fed up with watching Fulham at the moment, take up the whistle, as it is a brilliant career.

It seems that I have been watching Fulham, almost as long a LTS, and for the most of those years, apart from a couple of promotions, we have achieved very little. In the old days my friends and myself, used to go the Fulham one Saturday, then Chelsea the next, and out of the two, I chose to become a Fulham fan over Chelsea, and that was probably a big mistake, but I'm stuck with it now. I'm getting more frustrating on a match by match, the way that we have thrown away points, by not having a regular goal scorer, in fact I think this is one of the worst seasons ever, for poor strikers. Muniz will never make it now, and we should play without him, even be on the bench. We have no alternative but to play Garcia, as we have absolutely no other choice. That's how bad it is, and we will be extremely lucky to avoid the drop this season.

Now with the upcoming winter transfer window I expect our manager to be again looking to bring in some more Spanish players. Hope not we've already got a central striker Gonzalo Gracia who does not seem to know where the goal is in this country and a Manager who keep bringing on Rodrigo Muniz which just shows how out of touch our Manager is because he simply is not good enough for the Premiership. Best player we have got is Josh King and he'll be off in the summer to Tottenham Hotspur or Brentford. He is an excellent player in an under forming side.

Keeps bringing on Muniz? Rich, our bench guys hardly get a look in and when they get minutes, we expect miracles. Past players coming off the bench were classed as super-subs or impact players and the most famous one was Ole Gunnar Solskjær. Kevin was atrocious with his corners coming on last night and i agree not good enough service for those waiting for a decent delivery late on. We know Kevin is better than that and others. I think there is a deep resentment amongst our bench players and the blame for it is down to Arbeloa who is obviously not good in man management. Believe it or not we need all our bench players to be content and yes, they need to step up when they come on. What happens if the likes of Josh King gets injured 12 weeks like Saka of Arsenal? They are a bigger squad than ours and they can still play and get results but we will be in trouble and i suspect we might be in trouble now? That said, we are showing good form against the likes of Man Utd and Liverpool and it is a mystery why we can't batter naff teams like Crystal Palace. It was not so long ago that Marco Silva had gotten results with the likes of Kevin Smith Rowe etc so they can't be bad players overnight. This is down to Arbeloa and he needs to fix it before the January window. In the meantime, there might be a need to cal upon these bench guys.

I only got to look at the highlights. I would like to add a little bit of balance to what appears to be somewhat over critical view points coming in from some sectors. We are defending well, we are showing nice touches in midfield, we are creating chances. It is apparent that we are not finishing off those chances, We must go into the Villa game with what we have. Therefore, the manager needs to really show some fortitude amongst those tasked with the job of scoring goals for that Villa game.[ A rocket under their posteriors[. That part of the job should have been done already.

Apparently Palace made ten changes from the team that played in the previous league team - and that ‘stronger’ team had lost their previous 5 games anyway. I think the Palace manager must be worried. He had put out the much weaker side to focus on the Premier, and now he has the problem of being in the Cup as well!

After watching Brighton hammer Palace 5-0 a week ago, I thought that this time we had a big chance of beating our jinx team, but then I wasn't anticipating AA putting out such a poorly selected team. At one stage he said that he would field stronger sides in cup matches, and not use them for training purposes. What is it with this small competition is used by most clubs to field reserves . Look at City and Brighton. Bournemouth who have been struggling in the Premier League, suddenly score 3 goals in consecutive matches. Can you ever see us scoring more than 1 goal in any match ? No neither can I. If Muniz or Robinson are not left out on Saturday, I dread to imagine the outcome. Take a mortgage out and back Villa, as that bet would be as safe as houses ! !

The release of Jiminez says it all. Kevin came on, without kicking a ball took two corners, one behind the goal, the other could'nt beat the first man. Tete off the pace, continuing to play Robinson high on the left is beyond his ability, his best is coming from deep and driving forward. We all know about Anderson, Palcious still not ready, Muniz apparently never will be. 3 or 4 gilt edge chances spurned. Goal from the left side when Iwobi lost the ball, Robinson up the pitch. Our lack of abilty to take any chances against a low block will surely cost us in the top division. Starting team picks itself apart from goal scorer. Our one hope is better teams will not play a low block and come at us. 36 points seems a long way off.
Replies
Agree Robinson coming from deep can use his pace. He has not got ability to play so high up not a great crosser of the ball can’t shoot. If not for his pace properly wouldn’t have made it as a footballer. Sessegnon has a much better football brain. As for Muniz we had all the ball and he doesn’t help the midfield with his movement if he so much wanted a start he should at least be showing some energy. All I can say is the players who wanted a place after wanting a chance let the manager down and can’t complain now when not in side showed little effort
posted by DMK (Guest) - Thursday 29th October 2026, 8:58 AM

The best forwards go where they think they can score even if they may get hurt. Muniz seems to shy away from danger. He never gets in the right place to score unless by accident.

We offerd Jimenez a new year contract he wanted to go back to wolves is now only on bench in championship. Same as Wilson offered him 2 year deal he got offerd a 4 year deal for Leeds on a big wage which at the end will make him 34 we wouldn’t match it and his getting little game time

To be fair to Jimenez, he is getting on a bit now and maybe at age 35, games are catching up with him. He had a lively World Cup and he played a lot for Mexico. I also think it would be the same outcome if Jimenez had stayed with Fulham, a bench player.

Jiminez Bench player behind our two world class centre forwards. At least he could play others in, when he had the ball. We all know Anderson is no longer capable. We all know Robinson likes to run into space and not receive the ball in a forward position. We all despair as Muniz as a striker who will score goals. We all saw Tete playing at 50% of what he used to. We all saw Palacious not ready at the level required. We all saw the 2 corners by Kevin at Sunday football level when there was a chance of an equaliser. Why did we not start with our first team and then bring these clowns on when in front. Ask AA he might be able to help with your car, or if you have a drink problem.

Whatever happened to Robinson out there? That was a shocker from him and not the same player coming back from injury. Just to think they were talking about a big money transfer to the likes of Liverpool for Robinson. I think Sessegnon will take his place as soon as he comes back, personally. Muniz never got into the game when he desperately needed to and i doubt he will get the time and minutes he needs to get his form back. What is happening with Kevin from two shockers from corners he should be doing better with when we need him to? Palacious is struggling to adjust to the pace of the prem, you won't get the time you get in Spain to even think what to do next. Andersen wasn't switched on and got caught out and no surprise there. A bad night at the office and it is down to Chairman Khan if he decides to close the chapter on Arbeloa's fulham career or give him more time? I have seen us play like this with Marco in charge and no surprises there. How do we get a talented team of misfits to gell and play more penetrative football is a mystery. I hope for Arbeloa's sake that he gets the time he needs. I expect a back-lash from the Muniz haters who will say that this loss is down to him. Sadly this is some fans level of knowledge about the game of football these days.

Mortlake, the likes of Muniz and Kevin are coming on cold and not played football in a long while now and believe it or not it can take a while to warm up and get into the game of football. It's not just me, fans shout for Muniz because Gonzalo who plays every week is worse than Muniz. And for the record Muniz was Marco's pet project and he would have played him more often. The biggest fact is that the Spanish contingent, Arbeloa recruitments are not ready or even good enough for this league and that's his fault he picked them. Marco's choices are not useless and players such as Kevin Muniz and Smith Rowe are reacting poorly because they don't get regular games. The simple answer is to drop Kevin Rowe and Muniz and carry on with Arbeloa's first eleven and everyone is happy. Nuff said!!!

Fans sing for Muniz because there is more expectation from a poor signing in Gonzalo who is too weak and not big enough to survive in this league. And there you have it….the Spanish new recruits are not at Premiership level. But surely this could have been assessed when they were under consideration. Responsability lies beyond the manager. Several FFC officials must have been involved in supporting the Manager’s choices. Some degree of accountability should exist for such failures!!!

… and a three hour drive home with motorway closures. Again I ask, what makes anyone optimistic about this manager, his team selection, his tactics and ridiculous substitutions. Back in the bottom three by the international break. For crying out loud Tony get rid before it’s too late.

Couldn’t agree more.if steps aren’t taken immediately we will be relegated. Drop into the bottom three and we will stay there.

Unless your new manager can play striker as well, it just doesn’t matter. With this squad, we will be bouncing in and out of the relegation zone for the next six months regardless of manager. They’re just not that good.

Tonight would have been the same with Marco. Alvaro limited the amount of squad players given a chance and they all let him down. Tete, Anderson ,Palacios and Muñiz rubbish. Add to that a useless Robbo whom i hope Sess displaces as soon as his ban is over. We literally want to walk the ball into the net and it just cant be done. Weve been playing decent footbal recently but take Charles and Affenbruger out and the team losses its spark.

Robinson probably just had his worst game in a Fulham shirt and with Berge and Anderson in the same side it was snails pace. Newspaper reports have suggested Utd want Berge and Robinson. Roll on January and come and get them, they're doing nothing for us now. Sessenong and Charles can replace them easily. Don't know who might be interested in Anderson now because he's no longer up to it. That leaves the little matter of finding a goalscorer because at the moment we're powder puff up front. So so disappointing, again and again

I wish someone could explain what he brings to us? He slows the game and has he ever had a shot on target?

Berge plays well with Charles, but reverts to his old self with someone else.
