A nice result today without the drama and now on 33 points we can say that we are virtually safe. It felt like there was a lull in the game
at various points and especially after Smith Rowe managed to get in front of the defender for his 4th of the season and i am pleased for him. If i had to pick two to score today it would have been Smith Rowe and Traore for different reasons. Rowe is our record signing and understandably there is pressure and i think you could see his emotions spill over after his goal, or was that a bit of dirt in his eyes? We are safe and Marco has said it but i still think we should step up a gear more than we showed against Leicester. The first two Leicester subbing wasn't popular and it looked like Vans tactics had started to work after they came into the game much more so after our 1-0 or we looked like we had settled for 1-0. Leicester look like it is Rowes lucky team to score against now it is two but i wish he would show more hunger, or is it just me who thinks he is too laid back? Smith Rowe will definitely get more goals if he turns up a lot more in the penalty area. How many times have we commented on Adama Traore and his poor finish? Today he was excellent with lay-offs and his goal was perfectly well timed and placed, i couldn't be more happy for him. I wish he would show a bit more emotion and delight because he is better than we think he is. Tom Cairney was a good sub at the right time and well done Marco for today, your the man! 'Life is but a Dream' that sums up today. Can we play like this in the remaining games and get into Europe?

Why do some of you harp on about getting into Europe, as at this stage, as a settled Premier League club, it would do us more harm than good. At present we don't have enough depth in our squad to hold our own in the Premier League and dabble in Europe. Personally I don't feel that we will qualify for Europe anyway, and our focus for now, should be trying to hold a top 10 spot, and making a serious assault on the FA Cup.

Good post Owen and agree with Brian’s comments too regarding Europe. Think we need at least another season of consolidation and squad strengthening. Weaknesses remain as witnessed by our inconsistency and regular lapses of concentration.

What a difference having Berge back in the team makes. As MOTD pointed he wins the ball frequently and passes accurately. Some players who have had a long injury break, like Smith-Rowe, can take a considerable time to get fully match it. Let us hope we will now see a step up in his performance. If Traoré can add regular goal scoring to his talents we have a better version of him than any team has had before. It must hurt the players badly to realise how many more points we could have with a lttle more effort from them. This realisation must drive this improving group of players to great things in the second half of the season.

Ted, last time we were in Europe was 2010 and we were relegated in 2014 I believe.

Ignore football history, but we lost the manager the who brought us that success during that period after European time. Have not been near to repeating that success since. It must be the Champions League to aim for as that allows you buy whatever players you like and nearly guarantees you a permanent PL place.

This is one of the sensible set of postings that I have been involved in for quite some time, and a real pleasure to read. What a pity it isn't more like this. To add my two pence worth, I have to agree, that although it would be very exiting to be involved in some type of European football, and obviously seeing teams from other counties performing at CC, I feel like some others, that this would be far too soon. We are beginning to establish ourselves, as a decent, yet inconsistent Premier League club, but at present, not quite good enough. Providing that we hold on to Marco, and make ma couple of different signings in the summer, we will be able to push on next season, and then, and only then, will we be able to really think about Europe. Surprisingly, Nottingham Forest seem to be heading for Europe, and good luck to them, but aren't we one of the few teams to have beaten them this season, and away as well. the return at CC, will be interesting. One last thought, is if we win the FA Cup, or even the final, we might have to play in European football, probably against our will ! !

No club will play in Europe with regrets as it brings more money to the club that means better players and hopefully more success.

Just one point both the goals we scored were my two of our players unmarked in the box. How often does the occur.

My point about Boro was that Europe can be a poisoned chalice for smaller clubs. It took Boro 2 years to get relegated, it took us 4. It's not always the launching pad to further success, better players mean bigger wage bills and more fixtures mean extra pressure on a limited squad. West Ham have not been relegated.. yet.

Now that Man C won a very comvincing victory a bet some reporter will say they have put themselves back in the title race, and no one will say we have a chance of doing winning the league.

We are five points behind 4th place. A few wins in a row and we are close. Consistency of performnce and holding onto leads is essential.
